Sean Ellis To Make Thriller 'Broken'

Gold Circle Films ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding") will fully finance and produce indie thriller "Broken," from first-time feature writer-director Sean Ellis, reports Variety.

"Broken" is a contemporary female-driven thriller somewhat similar in tone to "Rosemary's Baby" and "Don't Look Now."

The movie features a supernatural element and twist, centers on a woman who comes out of a coffee shop in a bustling city street and thinks she sees herself driving past in a car. Disturbed by the event, woman follows the driver and sets out to find out who the woman in the car is and why she may be trying to replace her.

Ellis, who trained as a still photographer, began his career in the U.K. as a fashion photographer for hip music, fashion and lifestyle magazine the Face then became a musicvideo and commercials director. He shot two commercials for French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier and his Japanese line Homme Object that aired on Japanese TV.

Ellis also directed the award-winning musicvid "Never Ever" for the All Saints and wrote and directed the short "Left Turn."

Pic is expected to shoot this fall in Montreal with filmmakers next going out to cast.
