Synopsis:
British novelist Elinor Glyn relates the lurid Hollywood tale of an alleged murder on William Randolph Hearst's yacht: Hearst, suspecting that his mistress, actress Marion Davies, is having an affair with Charlie Chaplin, fires his gun in a jealous rage. However, he's mistaken another guest, movie producer Thomas Ince, for Chaplin. As he strives to cover up the murder, top gossip columnist Louella Parsons finds out the truth - and uses it to blackmail Hearst into giving her a lifetime contract with his newspaper chain.
