Synopsis: The original "Heimat" (West Germany/1984) was a saga of 63 years in the life of a German village. This sequel, by contrast, examines the denizens of a large city, Munich, during the turbulent decade of the Sixties. Starting in 1960, the film centers on a young man, Hermann Simon, who leaves his hometown for the city, and follows his life and that of his artist friends as they fall in love, get married, start businesses and families, and grow older and wiser against the backdrop of postwar Germany.
