Karl Urban Takes The Lead In 'Doom' Adaptation

Karl Urban (The Bourne Supremacy) is to star in Doom for Universal Pictures, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The video game adaptation is being directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak.

Urban will play John Grimm, the leader of a special ops team that is at the center of the futuristic action-adventure film. When dealing with alien demons, he is forced to cross paths with the organization responsible for his parents' deaths.

Production is slated to begin late next month, with an Aug. 5 release planned.
