Dreamworks 'Descent' For David Goyer

DreamWorks picked up rights to "The Descent," which sci-fi/horror specialist David Goyer ("Blade") will direct from his own adaptation of Jeffrey Long's novel, reports Variety.The sci-fi thriller is about a group of scientists led by a former cave explorer who must map and research a network of tunnels six miles beneath the surface. They must deal with a terrifying new species that dwells in the caves that may have been the basis for stories about hell.
Goyer and Red Hour's Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld will produce.
"As soon as we read Jeff Long's novel, we knew there were exciting opportunities for a film," Goyer said.
