Decent, not great - Rating: 3/5
Most here are raving about this movie. I thought it was decent, not great, and most of the sci fi & Battlestar fans I know seem to feel the same.
I'll focus on some of the worse aspects only because there's so many raves here.
The acting of Kendra--the main character is flat. I'm talking Anakin Skywalker/Padme Amidala flat. Just like Star Wars Ep 1-3, that flat acting mars the movie which is incredible in so many other aspects.
The story is good, but the flat acting dulls the delivery of the punch. It also made what should've been heart stopping moments into something I didn't really care for. Its kind of a shame because some of the scenes in this movie are very well written if you think about the movie purely in terms of a script. It had some of the same exact goings on that the fans wanted to see that were mentioned in the Pegasus episodes.
It also didn't have the benefit of being part of the long story arcs that make Battlestar a much deeper show than 1 episode (or in this case movie) could present. It does contribute to the larger Battlestar plotlines, but its a side contribution. It doesn't have any of those shocking discoveries you see in the show that took seasons to build up.
What makes this movie worth watching is that it adds to the Pegasus story arc, adds backstory to Adama, has some incredible shots of the Colonial fleet before it was destroyed & aside from the main character, the acting on the part of the other actors is very well done. Michelle Forbes as Cain is very well done & on par with her performance in the Pegasus episodes, but alas, she is not the main character.
Overall decent, but it could've & should've been better.
Razor Rocks! - Rating: 5/5
This show seems to play even better on DVD! Not sure exactly where the "extras" minuts are, but that doesn't seem to matter much, it's still a great episode! Now when are they coming out with the Blu-Ray?
Razor - Rating: 5/5
Awesome film, gives quite a bit of background history for the people on the Pegasus. Same awesome thrill that you'll find in the TV-show. Do not watch untill AFTER seeing season 1 and 2, and preferably at least half of season 3.
below my expectations - Rating: 3/5
I didn`t like the main character from the very beginning (Kendra shaw).
The special FX and the battles are fine, but this DVD it's not worth your time and money and I say this being a huge fan of BSG.
Not too shabby - Rating: 3/5
I enjoyed this movie, but it wasn't as good as much of the rest of the television show. I'd say it's worth seeing, but it isn't the best of BSG.
