What A Great Series - Rating: 5/5
I saw the preview for this series on one of my other DVD rentals and was instantly intrigued. A short trip later and I settled in to watch the first disc ... and the second and ... got on Amazon and ordered my own copies (kept the rentals until my own were delivered). Love the show - love it! The storyline is amazing so far (I'm only through the first season), the characters are wonderful, the wit is subtle, sarcastic, and over the top funny - it's just overall a fantastic sci-fi show. I've already preordered Season 3!
It's like a mix of the best part of the old X-Files (the first few seasons when it really rocked) and StarGate.
Just a bloody brilliant show all around.
Very silly, Idiot plot - Rating: 2/5
I purchased this being a huge fan of "Dr. Who" and "Torchwood." With that in mind, I have to say that "Primeval" is really silly and idiotic. I love science fiction and science fantasy, but the writing here is really pitiful. The basic idea of the series is great, and the acting is passable. HOWEVER, "Primeval" has what Roger Ebert calls an "idiot plot" - the show would end in 5 minutes if the characters had the common sense that any viewer has. The story just goes on because the characters make one foolish, unrealistic mistake after another. It was really disappointing and I'm surprised at the overall high reviews this series is getting. I found myself getting annoyed and bored with it most of the time. I should have saved my money and bought another season of "Dr. Who" or "Torchwood."
Deliciously scary - Rating: 5/5
My granddaughter and I fell in love with this British TV Series. That is why I purchased the first season dvd. Now we get to see scary monsters in widescreen when we want to! Scary, funny, great eye-candy (James Murray and Doug Henshall), and innovative plots. Just all-around good fun!
Sadly dull and childish - Rating: 2/5
Was hoping for the quality and writing found on other BBC America series.....is not there. Dr. Who, Torchwood, etc are phenominal. This one falls seriously short.
Great entertainment! - Rating: 5/5
This show it so much fun! It's suspenseful and funny. It totally keeps your attention with every episode. I can't wait until they come out with season 2!
