DVD Review

After being disappointed with many of the Fireplace DVDs out on the market that we tested, we were inspired to create a fireplace DVD that:

1. Used a real wood burning fire (not gas).

2. Was lit properly so that the fire didn't overexpose the shot.

3. A fire that filled the entire screen of a wide screen television as well as a regularly formatted TV.

4. Had no cheesy hearths to distract from the fire's magnificence.

5. Allowed the viewer to control what stage of the fire they wanted to see.

We believe that addressing these issues with a professional DVD has allowed us to create the best virtual fireplace available.

There are two basic aspect ratios 16:9 (widescreen) and 4:3 (standard) so look for these while you are searching your DVD player's menu. We shot the DVD in Anamorphic, which will allow it to switch between 16:9 and 4:3 formats without any issues.

If you are getting the black bars at the top and bottom of your TV screen, you will need to access your dvd player's menu (found on the remote). On your DVD player menu there should be an option to change the format (aspect ratio) so that the DVD displays properly on your screen without the black bars. This is how our DVDs are able to play on both widescreen and regularly formatted TVs.

This DVD has been tested in a wide variety of widescreen and standard screen TVs and displays full screen on both TV formats.

its just ok - Rating: 3/5

It looks ok, but the video quality is not, even for a mid size (42 inch) LCD, instead go for the blue ray for the best experience

Great roaring fireplace, no cleaning necessary! - Rating: 5/5

This is an actual woodburning fireplace, as advertised. The options for looping are: whole fire, high, medium and low, complete with natural sounds. My favorite is looping the medium. On the high, the screen isn't quite big enough to accommodate the top of the flames i.e. there was a misjudgment in the way it was filmed. I put this on with a candle that smells of "woodburning fireplace." Ambience without the work!!

So calming, great fireplace! - Rating: 5/5

This is a great fireplace DVD, although I cannot compare it to any others because it is the only/first I have owned. It features real wood, which is great because it crackles just like a normal fire. The sound quality is pretty good I'd say, and the video shows up very nicely even on my 42' 720p plasma (albeit using a Blu-ray player, which up-converts the signal). I find it a very relaxing way to fill in the silence when I'm just reading/studying on the couch. Very nice product overall!

BEST Fireplace DVD ever! - Rating: 5/5

Fireplace DVD: Real Wood Burning Fire (Anamorphic - FullScreen Edition)

I have several DVD's of fireplaces burning but NOW I have the one and only one that I will use and the others can be given away! This is beautiful and you can loop it from a beginning fire and watch it to the end with embers in the fireplace. There are a few selections. You can loop the constant full burn fireplace with crackling and popping and thats very nice. On ALL scenes its the inside of the fireplace. Your TV becomes the fireplace and thats what you see. There is no changing of different fireplaces in different homes and back again, you see the same fire through out the whole DVD. When I read the other reviews where people said you actually felt warmer I thought "what are they nuts?" BUT it's TRUE! Totally relaxing and a visual pleasure for sure. I recommend this highly. A DVD to be used year round.

Great Mood Setter! - Rating: 5/5

The full-screen fireplace shot makes your t.v. seem just like a real fireplace; you almost want to back up to it!! It creates an especially cozy feeling on gray days and cold nights. This product is much better than the other DVD's in that it shows only the fireplace opening; not some cheesy mantle or other decoration. Another plus is the realistic sound; much preferable to background music.
A really great DVD, and exactly what I was looking for.
