DVD Review

A new comedy from the creative genius of Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Talladega Nights) follows a pair of druggie losers as they reach the top of the hit-list when one witnesses a mob murder and drags his buddy into a crazy flight from mobsters bent on silencing both of them permanently. The film stars new sensation Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin) and James Franco (Spider-Man 1-3) and it co-stars Rosie Perez (Do The Right Thing) and Gary Cole (The Brady Bunch Movie). Movie is directed by David Gordon Green.

Far better than I expected. - Rating: 5/5

Internet buzz was what got me interested in seeing this, and I actually made a point to go see this film in theaters, which I'm very glad I did. It seems markets are flooded with subpar teen comedies, or sex romps written off as comedic film. This however, stands apart from those. Pineapple Express was surprisingly smartly written, and throughout was not only hilarious, but also touching at time. Seth Rogen continues to bring his everyman appeal, and James Franco, I felt, even stepped up his acting a bit for this. The chemistry between the two is obvious.
Simply put, to write Pineapple Express of as just another stoner comedy would be to do the film injustice, as it's a very original, warm-hearted comedy that even brushes on action parody at points.

Paranoia Will Destroy Ya! - Rating: 4/5

I expected more than a stoner movie with Pineapple Express, but in the end that's all it really was. The big difference between Pineapple express and other stoner movies (like Napoleon Dynamite) is that you don't have to be a stoner to enjoy it.

Seth Rogen wrote and starred in the movie (as if you weren't aware of that already), and is a genuinely funny guy. He's concocted a film here with Pineapple Express that is chock full of laugh out loud moments. And his co-star James Franco (best known for his role as Harry Osborne in the Spider-Man movies) is excellent as the stereotypical, drug dealing, waste-brain. The chemistry between Rogen and Franco is perfect and they have some hilarious dialogue together. In fact that is when the movie is at its funniest, and fortunately they're together for most of the movie.

Basically the plot centers on Rogen's witness of a murder committed by a guy that happens to have an indirect tie to Franco's character. The killer is able to track down Rogen's identity through this indirect tie, and the amusing chaos ensues.

You'll get a real kick out of Pineapple Express. It's not all about getting stoned; there's action, comedy, good acting...and it's all done better than most movies in this category. Check it out.

Good two-disc set - Rating: 5/5

I bought this about a week ago and I started watching the special features disc. A lot of the material on that disc is extremely funny, if you're into that kind of humor. They actually put a lot of unseen footage into the second disc, like one-liners, and deleted scenes. I haven't even seen all of the features yet.

Get this if you really liked the movie and want to see more about how they made it. Otherwise just stick to the 1-disc edition.

Pretty much everything i expected - Rating: 4/5

All the contents were there. It's a great movie if you understand and can relate, not saying that I did. Gave it a 4 because the corners were a little messed up, probably should blame the shipping company more but perhaps it should have been wrapped in a manner that this wouldn't have been able to happen

Top Movie of all Time, "Pineapple Express" - Rating: 5/5

This movie contains everything it promises which is a surprise because all should anyways but often times lie. It is packed with action, suspense, classic comedy and some new age comedy. I have watched it over and over and bought the digital edition included one so I have it on my laptop forever or at least until it gets boring which I don't think it will. Parents watch out if they're under the "age of knowledge" meaning if they will understand it then show it but if not be aware. I love it and go buy it from amazon.com too because it got to me fast and it was the least expensive edition compared to stores and other sites.
