User Reviews

Specifics - Rating: 5/5

This review is not going to explain the story. I'm writing this to let the consumer know about all the good and bad things about this version.

Firstly, this Complete version made me very happy. They added scenes that were originally on the delete scenes on the first version, and they also revised some of the fight scenes.

Quality: The quality is fantastic. It should only be watched on a big screen TV to get all of the awesomeness. Enough said about that.

Music: The music for most of the scenes changed drastically. I have seen the original version well over 100 times in both Japanese and English and I could tell the differences in the music. In some scenes, the changes are better and more "epic". But in other scenes, the music change didn't fit well with me. They also changed some of the main fight scene songs, such as Chase of the Highway and also the song when Cloud goes to attempt to rescue the kids. I loved the original, so this version will take a little getting use to. However, they aren't bad changes.

Content: We got to see more Turks time and more Kadaj time. In other words: We get to see Tseng and Elena up close and not for just a split second like in the original. Rude and Reno have a whole scene to themselves and that part made me very happy. There were more scenes that focused on Kadaj and it led us into his world and existance. There are more close-up's of a lot of characters, including Kadaj, and it really shows us all the effort put into making the details come out crisp and clear.

Sounds&Effects: The sounds blew my head away. There are more details with sounds which really got to my head. For example....Sephiroths sword went "Shwing". IT WAS AWESOME! It really made me feel like he was ten times more dangerous because I got the feeling his sword was 100% sharper. Little things like that really added to the film and the story. Also, the effects are more detailed. Some effects really made the film feel more real, such as Cloud actually getting bloodied up (which is a scene that I would define as horrific). Even Reno gets "bloodied up" which made it feel real because that's what would happen if someone really did punch you in the face.

Subtitles:
I have yet to watch this Complete version in English. I had to watch it in Japanese when I first got it because it was more original that way.
And let me tell you, the subtitles aren't very good.
The original Advent Children had better subtitles. The subs on this Complete version are practically an exact copy of what the English Dub scribt was. It was horrible. I know more Japanese now than when I first saw AC, and I could catch all the problems with the subtitles.
HOWEVER, the subtitles didn't take away from the story, but it would have been a lot funnier and more interesting if it was like the original. For example: Reno and Rude's very famous shared line was changed. In the original version, the subtitles DID correctly translate that part. But for some reason, this Complete versions subtitles DID NOT translate the same. However, for the scenes that were added, they did an all right job with translating that.

Overall, this version rocks!
If you are a huge fan of the original like I am, then you WILL be satisfied with this version.

If you loved FF7, you probably own this. If you are remotely into Final Fantasy, this is a huge improvement - Rating: 5/5

Ill start off by saying, those who love FF7 probably own this and the original.

For those who are into Final Fantasy, this is for you. You may have seen the spirits within and was slightly confused. This is nothing like that and actually hits closer to the more popular Final Fantasys.

This is a perfect addition for a Blu-ray collection. The entire movie, for those who have remember the first, has been basically redone. Granted the bulk of the movie is the same as the original, it has much added to it. This is more like a 2.0 version rather than a 1.5. I suggest everyone pick this up

As good as a non-fansub can be. - Rating: 4/5

First, the good. The tie ins to gameplay from Final Fantasy VII are a little more distinct in this version. Some choices of music are more appropriate for some scenes, and the way the combat played out in certain scenes fits the story better. The box says 26 more minutes of footage. It feels like 45 minutes extra. All very good things.

Bad: I'm extremely picky regarding my Japanese to English subtitle translations. Generally, the ones sold in the 'states are okay. That is to say, a lot of the cultural referencing in the language gets roughly translated into something close to American verbage. The result? The dilly-dally shilly-shally scene. If this sort of thing gets on your nerves, go find a fansub. If you don't know what that means, don't worry about it. Get this movie, it's terrific.

Great Movie - Great Price - Rating: 5/5

This is another one of my favorite movies, and I just knew that I had to have it. I looked around for a movie that was new and in good condition, and was selling for a reasonable price. I found that DVD at a reasonable price, and it came in perfect condition. Valued seller, quick with the shipping. A+

Wow! MUCH better than the original release! - Rating: 4/5

I found the original release of "Advent Children" very lacking as far as story-telling goes. The 'Complete' addition has tons of little "tweaks" including a good deal of additional scenes and dialogue- making for the TRUE "Advent Children" experience.

And, of course, the quality is fantastic on Blu-Ray! This HD flick seems to lack in quality in comparison to other Blu-Ray features I own (I presently own about 15 Blu-Ray titles) but it looks (and sounds) really, really good nonetheless.

(I had to watch the original "Advent Children" four times before I fully understood the story-line. But with "Advent Children Complete" I was able to gather the story rather concretely within the first half-hour! My girlfriend and I are gonna watch it tonight, and I'll see if a non-Final Fantasy player like herself will be able to follow the story and characters- I think she will. I was nervous about watching it with her, because the original edition's story was so... sub-par. So I watched about 45 minutes of it last night and was VERY impressed with the major 'upgrade' with the "Complete" edition.)

Lookin' forward to finishin' it tonight!
