User Reviews

I suppose if you are going to watch TV.. - Rating: 3/5

..then this is a decent option. Well in this case if you are going to purchase a collection from a TV show, this is not a bad idea. I admit that I do not usually watch TV, it is rare, and when I do it is because someone who I am hanging out with is watching TV. I have seen enough of this show though to tell you some details, and unlike the rest of the reviews thus far for this collection, I am not giving this 5 stars, but that is obvious anyhow.

Some episodes bored me to death, others were somewhat entertaining. There is a mix of genres on here, and some interesting twists and turns. The characters are notable, they vary and add more substance to the other characters which is definitely a positive thing. I don't find the 'relationship' between Bones and Seeley to be that interesting, it is actually annoying to watch their chemistry most of the time and the subtle humor entailed is not humorous at all to me.

Here are some details about the characters..

Bones - A forensic anthropologist that appears like she has a stick stuck up her butt 24/7. How witty is it that she examines bones and is called bones, and the show is called bones as well. She is somewhat mundane and annoying to watch.

Booth - Enlightened at times daft at others, on a turn of a dime. He has a little crush on Bones and this is seen by the way he looks at her and his general actions throughout the series.

Angela - She is the slut of the group. I don't know much else to say about her, other than she has been around the block and back a few times. When she is not in the lab or not in a scene, she is probably off somewhere having sex with someone she met sometime..

Hodgins - This is the dork of the group. This guy is extremely intelligent. He strikes me as the most intelligent of any character on this show. He is attracted to Angela, and it is interesting since they just don't match up. They are both intelligent but he does not seem as much as a nympho as his crush. He has had sex with Angela *who hasn't* and it is shown in one scene, they are in a bed talking afterwards. This scene shows how he wants committment and she is not ready for it.

Sweets - This guy is a psychologist and is actually more of a dork than Hodgins. He is entertaining to watch though since no matter what he seems to always be working his psychologic magic.

My wife would easily give this show 5 stars like 99% of the world, but I cannot bring myself to it. It is not a bad show, but I am not drawn in and it gets monotonous at times.

WHY WHY WHY DO we have to Wait till October? - Rating: 5/5

Ok why do we have to wait so long not just for Bones but all the other DVD TV series on a yearly basis? We don't get paid for TV here and so depend on the series by DVD arrivals. Of course we then scarf them up so quick within less than a week usually...it's one heck of a long wait for next years episodes. Yes we occasionally sneak peaks via the free net viewers in 2 x 3 frames but that only wets the appetite and our impatience even more. So if anyone is listening that decides these dates.....why not put them out within a 2-3 week ending of the season? Meantime the show...BONES is by far our favorite. I didn't like it for the first original 3 episodes but the 4th began to thaw me and by the 5th I was hooked. Writing is tight and casting tighter. Love the comedy most of all. Sure they could improve this or that to make me like it even more...but hey life is a compromise.
If you gave this a try when it first came out but wasn't taken in...go back and give it another look. I wasn't quite taken by last years plot of making Zack a serial killer. That definitely weird for weirds sake. Nothing like writing a character off without exactly killing him off traditionally. I never warmed to Zacks character...so I don't miss him or feel for his persona living behind those cold cold bars:) Hope it runs another 5 years......or more.....

And they say TV is no good - Rating: 5/5

Of course there are a lot of worthless TV series but there is also a lot of very worthwhile TV to watch. Bones is one of those series. It's intelligent, has a very attractive and talented cast, quirky characters, an unbelievably socially-awkward brilliant main character who's also very sexy in an innocent kind of way, and David Boreanaz.

Angel was one of my all-time favourite TV characters and it's mostly because David was perfect for the role. He brings his humour and his "there's no reason for taking life so seriously" attitude to this role.

The two main characters are perfect foils for each other: the brainy female awkward nerd anthropologist and the brawny ex-marine sharpshooter super FBI agent. The kind of combination that might have easily fallen flat if the main actors didn't have great chemistry. But believe me these two have a simmering undeclared love affair going on that brings a lot of humour and tension to the show.

But the other cast members are not ignored. They all participate generously to the series and it's the better for it. Plus you can't ignore the pleasure of watching the 3 main female characters: not only are they talented they are a treat for the eyes. Michaela Conlin (free-spirited Angela who's TV dad is Billy Gibbons from ZZTop!!) makes my heart melt every time she smiles.

Check out this series - it's definitely worth it. Be aware though that some scenes can be very graphic. They may not be suitable for younger viewers.

bones - Rating: 5/5

Is this even out to see yet? Bones is one of the better shows on tv.

STILL THE BEST PATHOLOGY-CRIME DRAMA AROUND - Rating: 5/5

Usually by the fourth season of any above average show ( and BONES is way above average ) the scripts tend to get a bit familiar, but not with this great series. Boreanaz, and Deschenel ( and the rest of the wonderful cast for that matter ) just get more interesting, and the two leads are simply the best on television. The cases are fresh, but the dialogue, humor, and chemistry is what drives this winner.
