Tae Bo Fan - but this is not good - Rating: 2/5
I LOVE Tae Bo and have been using it since 1997. This workout is more of a 'beginning' workout. Some of it is fun but he does WAY too much explaining and I think by trying to mix it up - he makes it complicated and you're so focused on watching/learning and then by the time you actually get to the 'workout' part - you're bored and your heart rate isn't up so it seems pointless. There are some good - heart pumping parts - but you get slowed down in the middle by the 'directions' he is giving instead of the workout you should be doing! Save your money on this one and buy the Get Ripped Series.
Not my favorite Tae Bo Video :( - Rating: 2/5
Wow, this is hard for me to do because I LOVE TAE BO, but this DVD is bad! As mentioned in another review, it is so fast that you are unable to keep proper form. You will be huffing and puffing from jumping around so much (thus the 2 stars), but I do not think muscle toning of any sort is possible. I have lots of TAE BO DVDs and consider myself fit, but I actually think I might hurt myself moving at this pace. It is also disappointing to see how poorly edited the video is, not that any of Billy Blanks videos are perfect -- but man! Not sure if I am buying any more Tae Bo unless I get to preview it first.
You'd think he'd get better as he goes - Rating: 3/5
I've been doing Tae Bo for the past decade, so I've accumulated a library of tapes/DVD's. Though I don't do it "regularly" (I mix it up when I can't run or want an "easier" workout) I regularly purchase new DVD's because I'm constantly searching for the "perfect" Tae Bo workout (for ME and what I'm looking for). This isn't it. I've been so disappointed with the majority of my recent Tae Bo purchases, including this one. Here's why:
1. I give up trying to count how many times Billy messes up anymore. Not that you have to be perfect, but it's TAPED! Edit it, especially if it's affecting my workout (not getting to the "other" side, messing up cadence, etc).
2. I feel like when I find a "good" move that is challenging and really targets a specific muscle group, he never does it again (ex being the abs at the end of Boot Camp Cardio Live).
3. Too much down time between moves in workouts (like this one) advertised as "cardio". I haven't remembered to wear my HR monitor yet, but I'd bet the farm I'm not in my zone for most of the work out.
Overall, this is just ok. Not as bad as some, not nearly as good as others. I'll still keep searching...
A decent workout - Rating: 4/5
Billy Blanks delivers a fun workout with this DVD. Years ago I took classes regularly at his gym but I found his tapes never quite captured the excitement or intense workout I got there. This new DVD gets closer to that experience than his earlier versions. He gives you some more complex moves and interesting combinations. My only complaint is just when you get into it and are breaking a sweat, he stops the move. He would sometimes do this in class too... so I make up for it by continuing the move for a while longer, while he talks. This will give you a more intense workout instead of just dancing around while he talks to you or encourages you. (this will make more sense when you see the video) Although, I do appreciate all his encouraging words during the workout... I'm cheesy like that and it helps.
I like it! - Rating: 5/5
I really liked this DVD. However, I got frustrated in the beginning cause it goes fast and does not really give a lot of time to learn the moves. However, that is the good thing about having a DVD at home... you can go to the spots that are difficult and learn them. That is what I did and now it is one of my favorites. Someone said that there are a lot of slow downs. This is true. These slow downs occur to give students time to learn the steps. I really like this DVD.
