DVD Review

Mr Vives is not fond of the lazy farmer's hand who keeps blocking the road with his large harvester, so he gets back at him, and the farmer's hand gets back at Mr Vives, and round and round it goes. Until one day, when this causes Mr Vives to lose his job and come back early to discover his wife in bed with another man. Furious, he drives up to the farm hand in the middle of a field and starts a fist fight which ends in the harvester. They wake up together at the hospital, both with useless legs. It seems they're doomed to stay together from now on.

BRILLIANT! - Rating: 5/5

This movie was incredible! Of course, I mean incredible for anyone with a bit of intelligence and patience because the jokes are drawn out and subtle. I actually checked this movie out from the library and am in the process of buying it right now. It's that good. I will watch it again and again and I have told everyone I know about it. Please, if you do yourself a favor this year, at least watch this movie. You will see what I mean!

European "comedy" - Rating: 3/5

To enjoy this movie, you have to have patience. It is a quiet movie with little dialog and many long shots of fields or roads or people sitting. As I watched I wondered why I was doing it, but by the end, I realized I had enjoyed it. There are funny scenes and a humorous ending. The plot is that two men have a mutual farm accident and must be in wheelchairs. They then travel in the chairs to motocross races in Belgium, through Germany and on to Finland to find the manufacturer of the tractor which disabled them. It is not "hilarious" as the cover proclaims, but it is not as sleepy as the pace implies. If you like gentle, visual humor try this.
