Hugh Dancy Enchants Anne Hathaway
[Monday, June 24th, 2002]British actor Hugh Dancy is in negotiations to star opposite Anne Hathaway("The Princess Diaries") in Miramax Films' romantic comedy "Ella Enchanted" for director Tommy O'Haver, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on the Newbery Award-winning book by Gail Carson Levine and set in a medieval fantasy world.
Dancy ("Black Hawk Down") will star as Prince Charmont in the story of a young woman named Ella (Hathaway) who is given the unwelcome gift of obedience from fairy Lucinda at birth, causing her to follow every order she receives. When Ella finds out that it's more of a curse, she tries to break it before she loses new love Charmont.
The project is scheduled to head into production in mid-August.
