What's this? A remake? No! They always remake great movies and they suck >< Argh! Here's what I know about it... The director is Tim Burton (atleatst that's good. I *heart* him), I'm guessing it's a musical because Danny Elfman is working on it, and Michael Keaton or Christopher Walken will be Willy. Gene Wilder was the man, he still is the man.

yeah I agree! how can they mess with perfection? I here the actual author of the book hated the movie and i guess thats why they ( the writers family) gave in to tim burton.I thought m. manson was suppose to be wonka?

Well if you look at Christopher Walken on (IMDB) it doesn't say anything about pre-production of Willy wonka at all they should have started working on it by now I heard about the remake years ago. think they have droped the idea by now they have to find a company to shoot it like Miramax, or Universal Studios or something like that they might be having a hard time finding one because musicals are hard to sell.

I would personally go see that movie if they did a remake I would like to see waht they can do with computers and modern day techniques.

So apparently there is a remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the works with Tim Burton attached to direct and Johnny Depp set to star as Willy Wonka! Does anyone else think that this kicks ass!?!?! Anyway, post your thoughts on this upcoming movie here or if you have an news on the production of this film post it here too.

it will only be good if johnny depp plays willy wonka. and he hasnt only just made a comeback, johnny has made many great films since edward scissorhands such as blow, sleepy hollow, choclat as well as other!. hes just such a great actor! i think he will be great as willy wonka!!!

willy wonka doesnt need to be re-made, give it the respect it deserves and leave it alone let it sit as a classic masterpeice. Im not saying burton could pull it off im just saying it doesnt need to be re-made. Gene wilder IS willy wonka. that was one of the best character portrayel, i could kinda see depp as wonka though. If they do remake it i hope burton elaborates on the darkside of the movie. thats one of the things that made it so good. can depp sing though i mean theyd have to put a song or to in the movie wouldnt they?

Umm Captain Jack Sparrow I believe that they already did make a sequel to the orginal Willy Wonka named Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator (or something along those lines) and it was based on the book of the same name. I think that the upcoming film with Johnny Depp is in fact a remake of the original. Could someone clear this up for me if I'm wrong?

I love the original film, it's one of my favourites, and I was sooooo worried that they were re-making it, but I'm glad Johnny Depp's gonna play Willy Wonka, I don't think anybody else could follow Gene Wilder, Johnny might not even be able to, but at least he will do the role justice!

to be honest im a little worried about the remake. it happens way to often when people remake classics and they are horrible. it makes me feel better to know that it is a tim burton film though because i think his style would fit the movie well. im glad that johnny is gonna have another movie coming up, but i just cant quite picture him as willy wonka to be honest. when i think of gene wilder as willy wonka i think of like a great uncle that gives you presents and is soo much fun.....and i have way too many fantacies about johnny depp to think of him that way lol. but hey, its johnny depp......i think he'll be able to pull it off

I was just watching E news.. and they were interviewing Johnny.. and the interviewer asked him about the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and he said that there has been talk, and he wasn't sure yet it he was going to be in it or not.. as of rite now. So, hopefully, he does get the part.. which he should.. and then the lady said that he was up against maralyn manson(sp).. and I was all like, well he better not get it(mm) if Johnny is going up for the part too!!

if tim burton is directing and jhonny depp wants the part, its gaurenteed he'll get it. No movie studio would pick manson over jhonny depp for an acting gig. I could see manson as a willy wonka though if it were going to be a twisted vision of willy wonka instead of making candies and chocolates in his facotry, wonka would make drugs and corrupt children

the original name of the books was charlie and the chocolate factory. don't know why the movies changed the title.

Well, I recently heard that the remake with Johnny Depp will stay more true to the book than the orginal Willy Wonka movie. Apparently it won't be a musical I guess we won't be seranaded by Johnny That's all I've heard though...but please keep posting what you find or hear about the movie.

I kind of think that there shouldn't be a re-make because the original is such a classic, sweet film but after watching Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow i could definately see him as Will Wonka, he'd be amazing! As long as they use JD i'll love it. I can't really think of another actor who could pull off Willy Wonka as well as the original.

as i said before, roal dahl hated the original, so he is totally supporting the remake! i think the classic was good but its old now and i dont really like gene wilder. i think the remake will be great! especially if johnny stars as wonka.

im kind of excited to see how crazy the movie will be. i think it probably will have a lot of differences from the origional, so im curious as to how fun they will make it. i love weird movies like that. the part of willy wonka is kind of similar to the part of sam in benny and joon, so maybe we will get to see a bit of sam in johny when he plays willy wonka! not too shabby!
