BackFire349
well one of the benefits at working at blockbuster is that i can rent 5 movies a week for free. so this week i decided to rent all horror movies, on account of a recently added horror section in my store. so...i rented.....

scanners
amityville horror
the omen
the people under the stairs
identity

i watched identity last night, it was pretty decent. ive never seen any of the others though. they good?

h0ck3yh0rr0r
i haven't seen some of those movies but i heard The Omen was good

slayer
the omens good scared the crap out of my friend but i didn't find it all that scary

BackFire349
the people under the stairs was so bad it was funny.

mechmoggy
Yeah, that one blows.

I have the Omen trilogy on DVD, on the extra's you find out some really messed up stuff happened during the filming of those films, really scary stuff.....

What was Identity again BF, the name rings a bell?

BackFire349
it's a thriller with john cusak and ray liotta, a group of people are in a motel and one by one they begin to die.

mechmoggy
Nah, haven't seen that one. Any good?

skule
identity was good. wasnt scarey but very interesting with its twists etc. One of the better movies i have seen lately compared to the sequel fest i been seeing this year!

BackFire349
it was alright.

ragesRemorse
identity was really good not as great as it was hyped as but still good, the omen is probably the best one out of that catergory, amityville was ok just kind of boring,

Evil Dead
somehow this thread escaped me last year........must have been too busy bickering with Backfire to notice it......... love

you never did give us your mini-reviews/thoughts on the movies damn it! This thread is unfinished.

Lord_Andres
People Under The Stairs sucks so badly that I'm considering of burning it hate that movie mad anyway the Omen trilogy is very good btw there is a 4th movie in the series but it sucks it's not even about Damien, not worth watching if you like the trilogy, scanners
and amityville horror I still have to see,(I know I'm missing something by not seeing them, but I plan too as soon as I have seen a few other movies)

BackFire
Actually I never had time to watch the other films I rented.

zombieman
Well you missed out with Scanners, thats Cronenberg at his finest. A very original film with some great exploding head effects.

Evil Dead
Andes.......I've seen them all. I was just wanting Backfire's opinion on them.

Lord_Andres
Ah, well sorry, didint mean to step on anybody's toes

slasherpunk18
Identity was great.
The Omen is okay.I'm not really into the whole omen and exorcist movies.
I haven't seen Scanners.
I saw a little bit of amityville.

ragesRemorse
Scanners is a classic, no matter how corny it is.
Amityville horror is just boring
the Omen was ok,but there are better movies in the catagory
People under the stairs is one of those movies that you acknowledge as being shit, but still like it somehow

<<Solo>>
Amityville Horror's sequel will blow.

BadKitty
scanners is nostalgic for me.it was one of the first horror movies I got to watch as kid that I loved! by todays standards it's pretty cheesy but it will always have a place in heart love

ragesRemorse
yeah i totally agree. I have never seen a head explode quite beautifully, it was like a visual seranade to my soulsmile

Dario Argento
you should give Scanners a chance BF. Not the best Cronenberg film, but still a really great flick.

zombieman
What would you say his best film is? I'll go with Dead Ringers.

@F1
The Fly, all those films in your list were good at the time, i would still rate amityville as one of the scariest i have seen.

Evil Dead
Amityville Horror 1 and 2 are both really good films. Amityville 1 is one of the best ghost stories I've ever seen put to film.

ragesRemorse
Amityville never did anything for me. It isnt like i have tried to embrace the atmosphere, that was the entire problem for me. I diddnt feel any kind of distinct atmosphere for the movie. I dont think they did a good job giving the house a presence. On a good note though, the acting in the film was very good.

Dario Argento
Videodrome and Naked Lunch

I have to agree with this, I finally saw the original Amityville a few weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised by it. It's realism and groundedness really made it an eerie film. Most ghost movies go to far and get wacky with their ghosts or the happenings caused by the ghosts (see the remake of Amityville for an example of this). The original though, very grounded, very real, very believable. It was done in a way that made everything that happened in the film feel really believable.

Probably the most unique haunted house movies ever.

PRO-PAIN
You should def check out Scanners Backfire, that's a great Cronenberg film, not his best though, but still a great film no doubt...

Azrael01
amityville was good the second was decent and the third was bad
Scanners was good I like videodrome better though
Never saw the omen all the way through
People under the stairs is funny
the ending of identity ruined the movie for me until then it was good

Wolfie
I gave Amityville and Omen a chance not too long ago, I got bored fast though. erm

Wendigo
The omen was okay, but scanners............see it man smokin'

sarcomens
I liked scanners II better than the first one. It was to much talk and to little action for me. Omen is a classic.

basementred
i have the omen 1 and 2

Discos
Scanners was good.....WAS good, now watching it with all these modern horrors it compares balls. Not really a horror though huh?
