BackFire349
yeah its good. funny trivia, the guy who directed this went on to direct another classic movie dealing with xmas, a christmas story.
eminem/the one
are you serious
Striel
Not a bad movie, I have it on DVD along with a couple other older horror flicks. I love it when you can get three or four classics on one DVD for like $10.

i thought this movie was great..supposedly started off the slasher genre...i read on a website that john carpenter was going to do a sequel about the maniac escaping from the mental hospital on halloween...
sounds a lot like the movie halloween dont ya think

samhain
I've never heard of this, but I am intrigued.
dean7879
i think u should check it out...dont think u will be dissapointed
zombieman
This is a great movie, id reccomend i to anyone whos into slashers. Its also criminally underrated, it even predates Halloween.
dean7879
yes it is very underated which is a shame
samhain
I've got a couple of days off work now. I might scour some shops to try and dig this out.

this is actually a decent film. It has a lot of nice touches, script and story isnt too bad, also the demented ramblings of the main protagonist are highly disturbing and effective. Quite a few famous actors , eg Margot Kidder(superman), and others who went on to make other sucesful films. The fact that you dont really get to see anything is effective. Also they make you think the killer is someone else, clever for such an old film. Also the camera work from the perspective of the killer was so shambolic it forced John Carpenter to invent the steady cam for halloween
Cinemaddiction
Took "Black Christmas" in this morning. Not bad at all, and while I don't think it's underrated, perhaps its influence just isn't appreciated? Make sense?
It certainly had all the elements of an original slasher. Quiet killer, first person cinematography, kids getting knocked off left and right. "Scream" had a few elements of "B.C." in it, for sure.
dean7879
yeah i think it was the first flasher to use pov shots...could very well of influenced movies liek halloween
The Redeemer
Supposedly started off the AMERICAN slasher genre, Dean my boy...Mario Bava's BLOOD BATH -TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE- was the one to REALLY kick things off...
dean7879
never heard of that film....is it any good??
The Redeemer
Your Italian horror film knowledge is so lacking! Good? It delivers more impressive kills than the entire tripe FRIDAY THE 13th series dishes up over ten films...

dean7879
ive heard its dire, but....i'll take your word for it
dean7879
i'll lend it off my friend who has all the video nastys
have u saw absurd?? i really liked that italian film
DaneBramage
Great flick that set some cliches for future slasher flicks. Ho Ho Ho.
