Also I would try to visit some horse stables. Sometime if you show interest someone there will offer you a job. Then you could ride and care for horses and get paid for it. Sailing / Skydiving I do not know much about.

I read a book called Confidence and Power In Dealing with People when I was younger to help overcome my insecurities. Also I read How To Win Friends and Influence People which helped a lot. The books basically teach you how to deal with people, and the more you know the more confidence you have. Also they teach you some facial gestures and body language to help make you more approachable. I have a copy of Confidence and Power.... that I will mail you if you pm me your address.
