ElmStreetFan01
The Stand is about a town being terrorized

BOPRecruit 16
anything else i should know about the synopsis elm?

BOPRecruit 16
any movies based on the books you all in here have read?

Fire
most of my books were made into movies later on, the other way around I doubt it

ElmStreetFan01
Well the main character get's experminted on and he's connected to the aliens.

BOPRecruit 16
yeah, same here. when my friends and i saw "sum of all fears" we laughed at the violence. don't ask why, we just crazy in the head. lol

Fire
well when most of tom clanc(e)y his books make it into films they add way too much action

BOPRecruit 16
my little brother and mom read most of his books, i didn't. i don't dig military books. movies are okay about it.

Fire
I like em cause I like spionage

but that's just me
I read a lot of books but mostly non-fiction

BOPRecruit 16
what's "spoinage"?

Fire
damn wrong word

too tired to type right

I ment stuff about spies I think it's called
espyonage (sp) tho

BOPRecruit 16
ah yes, that's the word! you got it, by george! lol

Fire
good big grin

BOPRecruit 16
i heard rumours that there was going to be a remake of "the outsiders" movie, is this true?

BOPRecruit 16
also, do any of you read the books that are based on the movie?

JRatT12
most books that are based on movies suck...

but i love reading and ive read thousinds of books but right now im reading.....War and Peace (been reading this for a couple weeks Soooo confusing) Dissolution (its the first book from the War of the Spider Queen series from Forgotten Realms if anyone nos who they are) and im reading Ghost soldiers (its a epic account of WWII greatest rescue misson)....anyone else reading or have read any of these books?? what did you think??

BOPRecruit 16
i read the book version of the spider-man, was pretty good since it gave more details and background and thoughts to the characters.

what's "the gunslinger" about?

been a while since i read watership down, good book and don't know what else to say. i saw the animted movie alot when i was little, so had to read the book. rabbits are so cute! ^.~

nemo
ok, i have to read it for class, but i don't see the point in the story at all, it's all just about rabbits.

eddymorphie
u guys are weird but i like books i've read
the pendragon series and they are good also books about the holocust are interesting reading

BOPRecruit 16
nemo: i know it's about rabbits, but it's more interesting the journey and the strength to move on to a better life.

eddymorphie: i've read Night by elie wiesel (sp?), that book was sad, read it in eigth grade for a report. also, we had to read anne frank and do a play.

Fire
I'm readin patriot games again atm

nemo
BOPRecruit 16, it's like just rabbits travelling, and i know they r brave, but the things they go through r so trivial to us, i just can't relate to it.

BOPRecruit 16
i don't mean the relating thing, it's just their will to survive and this inner society is what i found interesting. also, the quotes at the beginning of each chapter and the maps. that's just my opinion.

have any of you read s.e. hinton's the outsiders?

h0ck3yh0rr0r

h0ck3yh0rr0r
i never read "the man in the iron mask" ill try soon.

BOPRecruit 16
i loved the movie, saw it first came out and was a big leo decaprio fan back in those days. but not a leo fan now, just think he's a great actor. have you read the second book to the musketeers trilogy, hockeyhorror? i've beeen meaning to get around to the other books...

h0ck3yh0rr0r
i have the book. i dont know when to start reading it.

BOPRecruit 16
what's the second book about?

cermiestar
i love 1984....but it is VERY scary!

lil bitchiness
Agreed! That creeped me out....1984, that is...and it isnt a ''happy ending'' either....i dont like the idea of control and ''big brother''

If you havent, i think everyone should read some Stephen King...especially 'The Green Mile'' cos that film is nothing compared to the book
The Treatment, by Mo Hayder is very disturbing, its about pedophiles....its really good, but at the end of it it will put you in a bad mood...

Corran

Hegemon875
Has anyone read the Ender series?

BOPRecruit 16
what's the ender series about and who writes them, heg?

Hegemon875
Orson Scott Card wrote it here is a link http://www.ender.com/ender/ I'll admit the story sounds cheesy at first glance but if you read the first chapter you'll came to realize that this is an amazing book. Here is another link to an Ender forum. http://www.philoticweb.net/openbb/index.php

BOPRecruit 16
hege: what genre is it?

BOPRecruit 16
also feel free to talk about your fave fanfictions or one's that you write!

BackFire349
once im done with my job, im going to read the hobbit and LOTR trilogy finally.

mechmoggy
Reading the hobbit was a pivotal moment in my life.

BackFire349
I've read like 50 pages of it, but then i stopped sad i'll finish it before getting to the actual trilogy.

mechmoggy
I got Mrs.MM to read it and she fell in love with it.

You should read Catcher in Rye too, I think every bloke can connect with the character at some level. Plus its only a small book, I read it in one night. I've wanted to read it since finding out Mark Chapman (the guy who shot John Lennon) had a copy of it on him and referred to it in his reasonings for killing the star.

BackFire349
Oh, i read catcher in the rye in high school, that was indeed a great book.

mechmoggy
I must re-read it soon myself.

If you want a real tense thriller, try Crime & Punishment, I struggled to put it down.

BackFire349
I'll keep it in mind, although i never buy books.... stick out tongue

mechmoggy
I'll post you my copy if you want. Just don't send it back with the pages stuck together, like you did that other reading material I sent you...

BackFire349
laughing out loud

Sorry, i didnt mean to ruin your micheal jackson biography.... embarrasment

mechmoggy
Eeeuw, thats just plain wrong! sick

BackFire349
teehee

BOPRecruit 16
the only book that i go back to read over and over, is s.e. hinton's "the outsiders". i tried reading her other book "that was then, this is now", but didn't interest me as much as outsiders did. which books have you people reread? *btw, my fanfiction work can be reached at the link in my user profile at kmc!*

herbie
The only books i think i've reread are a few Dianna-Wynne Jones books, A couple of Terry Pratchett Books and To Kill A Mockingbird. Any of you read Eoin Colfs Artimus Fowl books, if your into fantasy, clever writing and a whole lot of humour you'd love them!

nazgulinthedark
i've read most of the jack lodon books overa a couple of times

nazgulinthedark

crazy_c

BOPRecruit 16
i'm trying to get around to reading novels based on movies. right now i'm on lxg. next is x2. read spider-man, good book.

ragesRemorse
i just finished farienhiet 451. that was a great read. I believe though bradbury was dropping acid while writing that book. I've started lost horizon about a week ago. This is a great book there is alot of muffled philosophy in this book so im taking this one slow so it sinks in a bit. anyone read it? Lost horizon by james hilton.

ChinaNiki
i'm currently reading Rapid Literacy in Chinese. i have to say it's pretty good since i'm starting to recognize some characters when i see them, although not necessarily in the context they are meant to be read

mechmoggy
I started that one but soon gave up, it was all Chinese to me. roll eyes (sarcastic)

BOPRecruit 16
i can recognize hiragana, but can't read much of it.

113
