1.May is the workers "holliday" day to mark their stands and stuff. Organized workers that is. They use to march in sort of demonstration marches around the countries. Its a socialist thing, and it has lost lots of its power recent years. The workers use it as a free day instead of what they are suppose to do. Make a statement in a demonstration march downtown. I have to work today and I`m gonna ask my customers who I know work at the shipyard why they aint marching. That will end up in heated debates and that I do love.

I AM sure. You will note that London was at work today. That was whty everyone was super-nervous because of the demonstrations; at least the shops were closed last year.

Last year was the last OFFICAL May Day holiday in the UK.

I'm sure it is a bank holiday for the following reasons.Bens school is closed for the dayMy timesheet at work has been auto completed with a Bank Holiday day off on that dayMy Outlook has a Bank HolidayMy wife has been told she will get double time (BH Pay) for her normal Monday shift

Also, according to the Department of Trade and Industry Website the 7th May 2001 is the Early May Bank Holiday.
