Ushgarak
This is just a scene setter. Your posts don’t have to be anywhere near as long, and generally will just involve your own character.

Dawn has arisen in the city of Marakith, and the sun shines brightly onto the massive courthouse that is the centre of the city. Here, the nobles rule- or used to rule- the planet, law is dispended, and people from the world over come to bring their business. It is an extremely busy place.
The Government is sick of receiving visitors, for they have little power left. But, for once someone has just turned up who they are waiting for. Escorted through the city by a group of Government guards, and a government Minister, is a young Jedi Knight, named Ushgarak.
Ushgarak is dressed in his Jedi robes- he has no need to hide his presence, for he is here on official business. The crisis on this planet has led to a cry for help in the Senate, and the Council agreed to send at least one Jedi to take a look. Ushgarak, already in this area of space, is the first to arrive.
In the courthouse are people of all sorts. Bounty Hunters, criminals, bandits, outlaws, noblemen, soldiers, city guards… others who do not wish to be known. The noise is almost deafening.
“We were rather hoping the Senate would send more help,” the minister is saying.
“Resources are strained,” says Ushgarak. “It is becoming difficult to keep order this far out. And you must understand, I cannot act as a permanent police force here. I can only aid you a little in upholding peace and justice.”
“Yes, yes, I quite understand…” says the Minister.
“There may be others arriving later,” says Ushgarak.
“I hope so,” says the Minister. “For there are hundreds who would see us destroyed.”
“The Senate recognises the legitimacy of your government,” says Ushgarak. “I will protect you from harm” At this moment, a man, with many armed guards, stops the two men.
“Courthouse tax, gentlemen,” he says. “A hundred dataries.” The Minister is outraged.
“Tax? That is preposterous! Who are you?”
“A representative of the province of Gard. As we have made such a contribution to Law and Order, we are imposing a tax on people coming to the Courthouse.
“That is just profiteering!” splutters the Minister. “I am a Government Minister! You may not bar my progress!” The man from Gard had men of his own- more men.
“No exceptions, Minister,” says the man.
“Are you sure there are no exceptions?” says Ushgarak
“Of course I’m sure,” said the man. “What do you mean?”
“Well, surely the actual law is unclear in this area,” says Ushgarak, waving his right hand.
“The law is unclear in this area,” agrees the man.
“After all, you don’t want to do anything illegal.”
“I don’t want to do anything illegal.”
“You’d better let us pass for now and check on the details later.”
“I’ll let you pass for now,” says the man, sounding just a little unsure of himself. “But I’ll check on this later, Minister, believe me.” Ushgarak, the Minister and the others pass on through.
“Impressive,” says the Minister, “but he is just one man. What will you do for our planet?” Ushgarak looks around.
“Can the others wait before seeing me?” he asks.
“They will probably have to,” says the Minister, looking at the enormous queues. “Why?”
“Well. I shall take some time to get to know some of these people. Then I can see if there is a good way to solve your problems.”
“Very well,” says the Minister.. “I shall see you later.” Ushgarak was alone, if you didn’t count the enormous crowd. He is about to step forward, when he hesitates- he senses…something… and then it passes. He goes to speak to some of the milling crowd.

The Courthouse is very large, and there are plenty of people and places within. Almost anything could be happening in there, depending on who the people are. And perhaps there is someone- or something- else… what is it that Ushgarak is worried about?

You’d better tell me.

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

Gundark made her way through the crowded spaceport on the northern edge of Marakith, having landed her unobtrusive ship in docking bay 55. Having never been to Planet before, she was amazed at the huge crowd here, humans and aliens alike, all intent on some private destination. Gundark supressed a sudden shiver and pulled the hood of her Jedi robe up over her head, quickly tucking in her long brown hair. She resisted the urge to touch the hilt of her lightsaber. The ripple in the Force she felt had been small, but enough to warrant prudent caution as she continued her trek to the courthouse amidst the scurrying throng. She was sure Ushgarak had already arrived and quickened her step.

Ushgarak
FINTI

Finti is lurking in the shadows, unnoticed and watching it all for now plotting a cunning and evil plan. Smiling to himself of the fact that the situation on this planet will work to his advantage, very much so. The Norse Sith drapes his black robe around his body ready to do evil were ever good might roam. A slight shiver in the force makes him stall for a second, reflecting to the strangeness of the perfume odor with the minor shiver. That was kind off odd he tinks for himself, but shrugs it off and heads for the courthouse.

Ushgarak
"What did the Jedi ever do for this place?" a local was asking of Ushgarak.

"I'm sorry," said Ushgarak. "There are but 10,000 of us, and considerably more planets in the Republic. And no-one could have forseen what became of the Trade Federation, not even us..."

"The Republic is dead out here, my freind," another local said. "Go back to the Inner Planets where you are welcome."

"If I am not welcome here, then I go in peace," says Ushgarak. "But while I have friends here who request my company, then I shall see what I can do." He is about to move on, when something he senses makes him smile and turn around.

"Gundark!" he says, welcomingly.

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

"Ushgarak," Gundark greeted him warmly, with a hand upon his sturdy shoulder. She pulled her hood down off her head. "I've just come from the spaceport. Have you met with any of the ministers yet...the council has asked for a preliminary assessment of the situation here."

Ushgarak
Ushgarak looks concerned.

"I've talked with a Minister named Chorlini... from what I can tell the situation is extremely serious. No-one is really in control here. The Senate may recognise this government but the people don't... I'm sensing a lot of discontent around.

"Also, I've heard some disturbing rumours of independance... from what I hear, this is not the only planet in the Republic that is thinking like that.I was only able to get here so quickly because I was already working on another political crisis at nearby Damagran... I'm not sure what to do. I've never known people dislike the Republic this much."

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

"Senator Vendant left Coruscant before I did...I assumed he would have returned here to his cabinet immediately...is he here now? " Gundark asked. Ground transport traffic was becoming congested and she urged Ushgarak into a nearby alcove with a nod of her head.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak moves inside, quietly.

"No," he said, "I haven't seen him. In fact, I've seen no sign of any diplomatic transport from Coruscant anywhere in the spaceport.

"This is troubling... Vendant made a lot of enemies by getting the Senate involved."

GUNDARK

Gundark stared off into the crowd. "I'm sure he is fearful for his life now that he has pleaded his case to the Senate. He's either afraid to return here to Marakith or has chosen to do so without being seen." Gundark gestured toward a group of heavily armed men, crimson sashes adorning rather plain uniforms, bearing the emblem of the province of Gard. "Those men of Gard, there, they seem to have nothing to hide", she noted.

USHGARAK

"I'm not certain," says Ushgarak, "but I'm fairly sure that the people of Gard have contact with the Hutts... they are in a strong position, with the withdrawl of the Federation. They won't appreciate our involvement."

GUNDARK

"Strong enough to take over the government ?" Gundark queried, "Surely their leader doesn't think he can take control with Vendant still....wait a minute. Maybe someone is controlling Vendant...pulling his strings."

USHGARAK

"It's possible..." says Ushgarak. "But we shoudn't centre on our anxities... and it would be an odd play for a faction controlling the Senator to ask for help from the Republic... unless there is something we are missing... this trend towards independance worries me as well. First Damagran and now here...

"We don't understand enough of what is going on here. We have to find a way to find out more."

Ushgarak
FINTI

The Norse sith still hides in the shadows, he recalls the earlier meeting with senator Vendant. The meeting went well, at least in the way of the mysterious Norseman. The senator learned the overall plan for the galaxy and Finti could see a combination of surprise and great fear in the eyes of the senator."But why?" whined the scared senator looking for a way out of this place. " Because it is the way of our belives" Finti said with an evil grin on his face. "You honourable senator is just our first step to reach our goal" with these words Finti folded his hands and looked uninterestingly on the twisting body of the senator, Vendants face was turning purple struggeling for air before the last gasp of life exhaled his now limp body.
"Dispose of the corps and leave no trace of him ever reach this planet" Finti turned toward the darkness of the shadows as he said it. "Yes sire" was the short reply as three men, dressed in what looked like Mandalorean armour, dragged the lifeless body of the senator away.

GUNDARK

"Perhaps we should travel to Gard, but I think it may be wise for us to appear as locals. I don't think they would appreciate a pair of Jedi in their midst," Gundark suggested. The day was wearing on into late morning and the pedestrian traffic seemed to have doubled since the two Jedi had met. "We'll certainly have no trouble blending in, Ush," she noted, studying his face for a reply.

Ushgarak
QUEEQ

The Gard system. The planet looks peaceful with the bright orange nebula spreading behind it. Suddenly a Cloakshaped Fighter leaves hyperspace in the system. But it remains only visible for a moment before it disappear from sight again.

Inside is Master queeq, dressed in a black, tightly fitting outfit, checking the data on the planet inside his now cloaked fighter. As he goes through the topography and incoming flights of the system, he switches on the hologram Ushgarak sent him.

"Gundark and I will arrive shortly after you do. Please check on all reported pirate activity in the system. Request travel reports of ALL cabinet member in the name of the Chancellor in the last six weeks and have this data analysed. May the Force be with you"

queeq switches the hologram off and turns to his droid.
"Well, AKA 1138, looks like you have to do the hard work this time."
"As usual. HA HA HA." The laugh sounds very mechanical, it's part of queeq's experiment to programma a sense of humour in the machine.
"You're a riot, AK", queeq replies dryly, rolling his eyes. "Now let's get this data."

Ushgarak
There is a buzz from Ushgarak's communicator. He looks at the flashing light upon it.

"queeq's in system," he says. "That is good news... Gundark. Go to Gard. I still have to meet with the Government here- I will see if there is anyone who can help us. I will follow after you as soon as I can."

GUNDARK

Gundark nodded and clasped Ush's hand in hers in parting. She once again pulled her hood up over her head and rejoined the scurrying pedestrian traffic. She stopped briefly in a small group of shops, taking all of two minutes to select a dark blue homespun dress and soft boots made from the hide of some indigenous animal that the clerk pronounced for her but the name was lost on Gundark's tongue. After paying for her purchases, she slipped into an alcove behind a row of fruit vendors and quickly changed clothes and whipped her hair into a fast braid. Pulling her Jedi robe around her once more to hide her lightsaber, Gundark hailed a common ground transport that would connect her to a shuttle east to the province of Gard. "Good luck, Ushgarak," she said, half to herself, half to the Force.

THRAX

"Damn phosphobactroelectric lights"

A small blue figure hovered at the roof of the courthouse supported by impossibly small wings. He was tinkering with one of the large lights that lit the room, an anti-grav platform next to him supported an array of tools.

"Now where's that filament manipulator."

The Toydarian looked across his array of tools and selected an item clearly designed for a species three times his size. He dragged it off the platform and applied it to the light fixture which then affected a large voltage through him. He jumped back and dropped the manipulator, gesticulating wildy at the light.

"Oh dear."

Looking down he saw the large tool falling very fast towards a man in robes.

"Oh very dear. Look out."

He faced himself downwards and raced towards the tool, intent on catching it before it struck the figure. Managing to grasp the tool in time he then realised that being as the tool weighed twice as much as he did that his efforts were in vain. The figure with looked up and went to catch the tool with what could only be described as lightspeed reactions. Sadly by now the tool was travelling far to fast and with the added weight of the Toydarian it had a fair amount of momentum. The figure caught the tool and about a tenth of a second later found himself forced down by its weight. The resulting pile consited of Jedi Knight, Filament Manipulator, Toydarian.

"Hello, my name is Thrax. Here's my card."

The Toydarian, Thrax, hovered to one side and handed the Jedi a card 'From Lightbikes to Lightcruisers Thraxs Emporium is the place for you'. He then began to pull the manipulator off the knight, too the casual onlooker the situation might have been funny; a three foot tall Toydarian dragging a tool twice his size of a six foot tall human jedi knight. Sadly all the onlookers were government officals to whom Thrax had not endeared himself after the last set of repairs on the main law office computer caused non local damage to the memory structure wiping out the criminal record of many offenders, several of Thraxs outstanding fines were also deleted though they didn't know this yet.

USHGARAK

Ushgarak picks himself up, struggling to keep some dignity in a difficult situation.

"So then... my friend," he says, dusting himself down. "You seem to have cuased quite a stir..." A number of nearby people were looking darkly at Thrax, who clearly had many enemies. "Why not come inot the Main Hall with me, where you will attract... less attention."

THRAX

Usgarak invited Thrax into the main hall, he had been there a couple of times before but seen it many more times thanks to some modifications to the halls ceiling when he was here last for maintenance.

"So, you want to talk business my friend?"

Thrax rubbed his hands together and begun speaking with out waiting for a reply. He hovered upwards slowly moving round to the front of the Jedi facing him and opting to fly backwards.

"You are interested in a ship perhaps? Or maybe private transport around the city? Or perhaps a warrior like you is interested in something more destructive yes? Am I right?"

USHGARAK

"Thank you," says Ushgarak, "but I have no need of weapons at this time." Thrax seems to be smoothly dodging people behind him, as Ushgarak walks along.

"Perhaps you could tell me a little of what is going on here? Who is calling the shots now the Federation is gone? The Hutts? Or these people from Gard?

"I can make it worth your while to tell me..."

THRAX

Thrax stopped dead at Usgaraks question, the business oppurtunity twinkle from his eyes gone.

"Why does it always come down to these things when you Jedi Knights are in town. I have no idea who is 'calling the shots' and if I did I wouldn't tell you because then one of those shots would be called on me. You understand what I am saying."

The Toydarian moved in closer to Ushgarak, his head tilted forwards and his eyes meeting the Jedis.

"Talking about such things in public does not make good business. Now if you will excuse me I have a light to fix and then I have to get back to my shop where I will be alone and can at last relax a little."

USHGARAK

"I understand, my friend," says Ushgarak. "Perhaps I will call by and see you later..."

Ushgarak
FINTI

Finti didnt look forward to the meeting with the Hutts, but it had to done. The vile gangsters as the Huts are didn`t concern Finti, he just couldn`t stand their smell. He knew he couldn`t use mindtricks on them, but they couldn`t protect themselfs against the force and certainly not the dark side. "They`ll be my tools" Finti spoke to himself, "Either that or one pile of dead wormrings"
Finti let his hand glide over the lightsaber hilt as he moved down the hall toward the Hutts meeting room. A message about Queeq`s arrival at Gard had just beeped in.
"Just keep on good jedi`s play it into my hands" Finti smiled as the door open an the foul odor hit him like a wall, smile gone in an instant. He felt the fear in the room and knew he was already in control.

Ushgarak
QUEEQ

Still invisibly in orbit in the Gard system, queeq checks out the data analysis AKA 1138 has provided him with.

"Hmmm, interesting. Many unmarked ships with fake ID's fly on and. No Trade Federation ships and the one's with the real ID's are only diplomatic."

queeq looks out of the window of his Cloakshaped Fighter towards the planet below him.

"Smugglers. Hehehehehe. And were would a smuggler go?"

queeq gazes towards the orange nebula which glitters like an exotic veil moved by the wind.

"The outer rim of course. Gotta get past that nebula before making the jump to hyperspace. Bet that's a haven for pirates. Hmmm, this situation requires some investigation. Let's go, AK."

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

Having arrived in the province of Gard, Gundark realized it was nearly midday. Citizens mulled about, but there was a notable number of Gard militia in the square. Heavily armed militia, she noted grimly. No one paid her any attention as she crossed the square and found the offices of the General Board of Gard, in an imposing, if small, plastisteel building. The entrance was kept by two of the militia in their dark uniforms with the crimson sashes, but neither spoke to her as she passed. Gundark queried the droid on duty at the information counter about speaking to the Board Supervisor. "The Board Supervisor has left office," the droid dutifully reported. "What do you mean, left office ? For the day ?" The droid made what could have been interpreted as a sigh. "The Board Supervisor has been removed from office," the droid intoned. This was not good, Gundark thought. "Who is in charge now ?", she asked. "Commander Raikk," the droid answered. "Well, is he in ?" "No," was the droid's simple reply. Gundark turned from the counter, knowing she wasn't going to get any useful information from the droid. She expelled her frustration with a deep breath. The Board Supervisor was obviously dead and she had a pretty good idea this Commander Raikk was out marching his troops around somewhere. I hope you're having better luck than I am, Ush, she thought.

Ushgarak
FINTI

The meeting with the Hutts was a success, they agreed on doing their part to hold this unstable situation this system had gone into. It was to their benefit as well as Finti`s, and with the aid of commander Raik and his militia troops it could all begin. The senate and their allies would have great difficulties setting the situation straight. It`s more or less totally out of control, it was time to spread confusion, a time to spread fear, a time to tightened the grip, it was time to revolt.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak left his new friend and carried on through the main hall, on his way to his meeting with the people who were, in theory, in charge around here. Ushgarak had been allowed into the Main Hall because he had been invited; most people who came to the Courthouse were not so lucky. This place was virtually empty, a start contrast to the packed open area outside.

Ushgarak was a little unsure of which way to go, so he was happy when an man came walking by, and noticed his presene. Ushgarak didn't know who the man was- a flunkie, or administrator, or something.

"Ushgarak?" the man asked. Ushgarak nodded. "Please come this way. The Ministers are waiting." Ushgarak followed the man through into a nearby room. As he walked, Ushgarak thought about the sinister presence he had felt earlier. What could it have been? It was all too similar to what had been happening at nearby Damagran and...

As Ushgarak stepped through, the man tripped over his own feet and fell. Ushgarak caught him, deftly, with asmile.

"I'm sorry," said the man. "ALways a hundred things to do,you know..." Ushgarak's smile suddenly froze. In an instant, he flung his arms forward, throwing the man off of him with the aid of the Force. His right hand swept down to above his sabre hilt. As it passed, he pulled the sabre from its holder and activated it. He rapidly twirled his sabre blade behind him, where it deflected a shot coming for his back.

The man he had thrown off of him was drawing his own gun. Arin quickly pulled it out his hand, sedning it flying across the room. But he had already taken too much time; the doors on either side of the room had shut and sealed themselves.

"Shareth the Hutt sends her regards, Jedi," said a deep voice from the next room, muffled by the walls. "Your Master is not here to save you this time."

Ushagak was already cutting through the door. Only now did he notice the explosives that lined the walls, well disguised. He hadn't finished cutting through the door when the explosives blew; Ushgarak summoned all of his energies to heave at the door, and it gave way. Ushgarak was blown through back into the Main Hall, still mostly empty.

Stupid! Stupid! he thought to himself. Too busy worrying about these vague problems to sense the trap that Shareth had laid for him; the two of them went way back. He should have killed that insidious hag years ago. His Master had always warned him that this obsession with the Hutts was his weakness...

Ushgarak jumped to his feet, looking for danger. He could see or sense nothing at this moment... what was a petty criminal like Shareth doing here? She ran arms deals, she normally stayed away from political control... she wouldn't have come to this planet unless someone had made a specific deal...

"You think I'm an amateur, Jedi?" said the voice again. Ushgarak only had time to catch a glimpse of gleaming yellow armour ebfore a volley of laser shots came his way. he deflected them to one side, and started to look for a means of escape...

The would-be assassin had brought friends. Ushgarak was soon under attack from all sides. Perhaops he could take them,or perhaps not, but eitheer way it wasn't smart to hang around. He saw his escape route- upwards.

Ushgarak made an almighty leap into the air, and his hands grabbed onto the edge of the dome at the top of the Main Hall. Quickly, he cut through the dome wall. But even as he did, a shiot from the man in yellow armour thudded into the right side of his back. Grimacing, Ushgarak rolled through the dome to the safety of the roof.

He stumbled away, wounded. he had to work out what to do now... needed somewhere to rest... it was a carefully planeed hit, and SOMEONE on the Government was in on it. It an't have been all the Ministers, it casn't have been... but hedidn't know who to trust right now. Gundark and queeq were far away at Gard and... damn! Ushgarak's communicator was fried. But as he checked in his pocket,s hefopund somethuing. The business card of a local Toydarian businessman...

Unseen, and walking at an odd angle as he clutched his wound, Ushgarak dropped down neatly into the crowded streets below.

Ushgarak
FINTI

Finti saw the commotion in the courthouse, causious now because this was not his doing. He caught a glimpse of some yellow armored person and Sharet the Hutt. Stricken with anger Finti leaped toward the yellow armored person, in his leap finti ignited his purple lightsaber with a red core and sliced the man in two. Even before his body had parted Finti drove his saber to the hilt into the head of Jada the Hutt, Sareths accomplished partner in crime. sareth had fled and was nowhere to bee seen. The mandalorien armoured troopers took out the rest of Shareths men.The Norse sith now furious with the Hutts deception ordered that there should be no survivors in the courthouse Main Hall. Finti typed an order on his wristband communicator and suddenly a riot started to evolve outside the courthouse, a riot that spread quickly. So quickly that the situation on Gard became critical hostile and explosive. Just one incident would tip it over even as far away as Gard were from this place. The plan seemed to work even thoug this insident was not part of it. In fact it could have wrecked the entire plan. Shareth the Hutt shall be exterminated together with all her Huttese friends. Finti blew out some air and looked up and noticed an escape route toward the dome, "only a jedi can mange a stunt like that, find and eliminate the jedi." he shouted. The troopers rushed off to carry out the order glad to be out of the Norseman way.

QUEEQ

As Gundark makes her way through the crowded streets, she suddenly gets pulled into an alley. She whips out her lightsabre but before she ignites she hears a familiar humming: the charging sound of a tommy blaster. Gundark turns and looks sharply at queeq. "Ush got you on this mission too?" She didn't seem to happy to see the person hiding in the shadows, of whom only a few lights flickering lights could be seen.
"Can't say I'm to thrilled about this.... reunion either", queeq replied as he stepped out of the shadows and switched off the charging module of his blaster. "But since you're here now to save us all, I might as well leave." queeq passes Gundark and steps out into the crowds.

GUNDARK

Gundark sighed and slipped her lightsaber back onto her belt. Hands balled into fists on her hips, she followed the owner of the tommy blaster back into the alleyway. "Queeq, I......." Gundark stopped dead, hands falling limply to her sides. Through the Force, Ush's pain came to her, suddenly and without warning. She reached out to him, trying to determine if he needed help. "Ush is hurt," Gundark told the back of Queeq's head. He turned and she studied his face, recalling the last time they had been together, on Gom.....

QUEEQ

"I know..." queeq said slowly and menacing. "You better stay here. I've got some unfinished business in the nebula and then I'll proceed to Marakith."
Gundark tried to stop him. "But..." queeq abruptly turns. "Look, Gundark. The Force is strong with you but I thik it's wise you stay away from me for now." queeq turns around and disappears in the crowds leaving Gundark behind. "Will this never end...?", she sighed.

The Cloakshaped Fighter leaves the atmosphere of Gard and heads towards the Nebula. "Okay AK, give me an analysis of any ships in the nebula area."
"Aye aye captain." AKA 1138 replied. Within seconds AK bring in his report. "Ship ahoy, Master. Correlian. No markings"
- "Pirates. What I thought, awaiting the smuggles that leave Gard. No Trade Federation ships ever come here. Looks like the polticians of Gard have a nice operation set up here. Wonder who they are working with. Any identification possible?
- "No, captain-sir." AK replied with his metal voice.

As Fighter drew nearer to the Nebula, queeq stretched out with the Force. "Tell me when we're in range of their scopes", queeq whispered to the droid. AK glanced towards his owner. "Want me to charge the blasters?"
queeq just shook his head, then he suddenly looked up in surprise. "HUTTS!" A radio message immediately responded to his revelation. "Unmarked fighter. Continue the present course. You will be boarded in minutes. Don not deviate from your present course or you will be destroyed."

queeq sat up straight in his chair, strapped himself in. "AK, start making the calculations for the jump to lightspeed and get ready to power charge the blasters. Switching to manual."
The communicator sounded again. "Do not try anything funny or you WILL be destroyed." queeq responded to AK "Charge! How long till we make the jump to lightspeed."
- "Three minutes." AK replied stoicly.

The Cloakshaped Fighter suddenly made an abrupt turn, throwing the three attacking fighters off guard. With a dazzling turn the Fighter got behind the flight leader. A bolt of light made the fighter instantly explode. The remaining two fighters sent down a rain of balster fire on the Fighter which twirled and turned avoiding the blasts.

queeq was focused on his controlled and snapped to his droid. He saw more fighters leaving the Corellian Battel cruise. "How long until we can make the jump to lightspeed!"
"Two more minutes." "Increase speed, full throttle."

The Fighter blasted away from the pursuing fighter, but they catch on quickly. Away from the orange light of the Nebula, queeq is able to succesfully use his cloaking device.

Suddenly the Fighter disappears from any of the scopes. Inside the Cloakshaped Fighter queeq gives more instruction to his droid. "When we drop the cloak send a message to Gundark warning her for this trap. Why would the Hutts do this, who is controlling them. I sense grave danger. Ready for lightspeed?" "Aye aye sir", AK responded. "Let me get rid of these two and then get out of herebefore the others arrive."

queeq slowly turned behind the two searching enemy fighters. "Don't lock our missiles yet, or they'll know we're here." When in a comfortable firing position, queeq switches off his cloaking device, locks on both targets and blasts them to smithereens. Immediately the Fighter blasts away in hyperspace.

FINTI

Finti looked around the Main Hall, the battle was over and easily won. The dead bodies of the ministers and former nobility laid scattered around the entire courthouse, not a single survivor of the opposition. Finti used his wristband communicator "Courthouse clear, commander Raik or should I say Duke Raik sole protector of the New Gard system."Finti moved into the shadows as he continued his conversation with Raik. "You need to declare Martial law at once, if you are in control of the province, soon reinforcement will arrive and the entire planet will be surrounded by a star fleet. Are your elitetroopers in control Duke Raik?" "Yes Finti", the Duke replied, "I have stationed them around the entire place and a couple of thousands awaits further orders. This coupe went rather well don`t you think"
"We are in control of the sovereign system of New Gard, but it`s merely a beginning" Finti answered.
Finti return to the Main Hall of the courthouse and aura of fear followed his steps. Reports of the Star ship armada being in place started to come in.
"Is there an update on the whereabouts of the jedi" Finti yelled into the communicator. "If not get some and quick"

Raik decleared Martial law all over the newley decleared republic of New Gard, with himself as sovereign leader of the planet. Duke Raik.
It had only just begun Finti moved around the corthouse eager for news about the jedi.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak kept low and inconspicuous. Behind the pain, he was having that uncomfortable feeling again.

This was an odd move. What was going on here? By the sound of things, the Courthouse had turned into a war zone. There was more than one faction at work here, that was for sure. This was a puzzle that needed unqrapping. And the Council muast be warned of the new disruption! Ushgarak could only hope that queeq and Gundark had not run into similar trouble... though they could both take care of themselves.

A plan formed in Ushgarak's mind. He must get to this Toydarian, who seemed friendly, and use a long-range communicator. Then, he had to get back to the spacepoert, and the safety of his ship, the Eye of the Moon...

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

Gundark was quietly eavesdropping on a group of a half dozen or so Gard militia men when a comlink sounded. A dark haired man, as facially scarred as he was heavily armed answered the comlink. Gundark strained to hear the exchange from her hiding place around the corner from the group. "Martial law has been declared in Marakith and Gard. Commander Raikk has been put in control by the Norseman. You are to assert complete control of the population of Gard and maintain curfew in the area," ordered the authoritative voice on the opposite end. "Yes sir," the scarred man answered. He looked at the group around him and smiled an unnatural smile, sending a shiver down Gundark's spine. "Deploy the troops," he commanded. The group dispersed, drawing blasters and reaching for their own comlinks. Three of them turned around and headed right toward Gundark's hiding place. She looked around for an escape route, saw none, and drew her lightsaber. So much for a good hiding place, she thought. As soon as she was spied, one of the militia men shouted, "Halt. Who are you ?" Then he saw her lightsaber ignite. "Jedi. Spying on us ?, " he asked with a sneer, bringing up his blaster and firing. Gundark answered with her saber, blocking the bolt and those of the other two men. The close quarters enabled Gundark to quickly dispatch the second and third man, and she used the Force to yank the first man's blaster from his grasp. He stared at his empty palm, then grabbed his comlink. Gundark deactivated her saber and ran. Fast.

QUEEQ

Coruscant. As the sun is setting none of Coruscant's air traffic seems to slow down. At the Jedi Temple a black clad man with a long black cape enters the large hallway which leads to the turbo elevator. He is stopped by a young Jedi dressed in traditional robes. "Halt. What is your business." His voice revealed his inexperience but also a great calmth and confidence. He made not the tiniest gesture towards the light sabre stuck in his tunic. The black clad stranger that appeared so out of place removed his hood and looked the young Jedi straight in his eyes.
"Master queeq. I need to see the Council. NOW!"
The young Jedi looked at him calmly. "Master queeq you say? Master of what?" queeq looked at him sharply: "I have no time for this." And passed the young Jedi, who suddenly stood before him again using Force Speed. He held his unignited light sabre in his hand. queeq moved close up to the young Jedi, whose left eyelid flinched only a little. "A crisis has arisen on planet Ulva. Two Jedi may be in great danger. I MUST see the Council now."

"It is allright, Shamas." Ki-Adi Mundi walked up to the two Jedi with a smile, embraced queeq and turned to the young Jedi who clearly looked more relaxed now. "You should be thankful to be still alive, hehehehehe."
queeq's face was stoic as ever. "My master, I must see the Council about a matter of grave importance." The smile disappeared on Ki-Adi's face, "I have felt it."

High up in the tower of the Jedi Temple only six members of the Council are present. queeq has seated himself in one the Council's seats when Yoda arrives. He sees queeq unappropriately sitting in Mace Windu's seat. "Aha, comfortable you have made yourself." queeq replied with calmth. "I have no time for formalities, my Master. I have just returned from Ulva and I sense a great crisis taking place on that planet."
Yoda didn't seem surprised. "A disturbance we sensed in the Force. In trouble Ushgarak is, hmmmm?"
"I believe matters are worse than that. I need an audience with the Supreme Chancellor. Hutt warships are lying in ambush just off planet for any unwanted departures from the planet."
Yoda eyes squinted. "Hutt warships. Not heard of space agression by Hutts I have. But reveal this you must to the Chancellor. To us not."
"I believe matters are worse than criminal warlords explanding their activities to space piracy. I sensed not only a disturbance in the Force because of Ushgarak's trouble, but a large tremor in the Force. Dark, elusive. there is a force behind this sudden Hutt activity."
Yoda sighed deeply. "What request you have to the Council?"
queeq determinedly replied: "I request the assistence of a Jedi, well trained in the Jedi arts. Lightsabre and fighting experience. You can send him after I leave Coruscant, for I must return soo..."
Yoda interrupted him. "Gundark on Ulva is. Her you take."
queeq was silent for a moment. Yoda looked at him. "Your indifferences forget you must."
"I don't know where she is. Whether she is still alive. I'm going after Ushgarak first, so I don't think teaming up with Gund..."
"Gundark you take." Yoda's word seemed final.
Another Jedi entered the Council room and whispered into Ki-Adi's ear.
Ki-Adi sighed and looked at queeq. "We have just reveived word that Gard is under martial law. That was all we received before communications were cut off."
queeq got up. "I will see the Chancellor now." He started to walk off, but Yoda spoke again. "Still not wear Jedi robes you will. That defiance you need not." queeq turned and smiled dryly to Yoda. "May the Force be with you, my Master." Yoda's face showed a slight smile. "May the Force be with you.... queeq."

Ushgarak
Meanwhile, the wounded Ushgarak stumbled into Thrax's workshop...

THRAX

Thrax lay under a large speeder. Tools littered around him, a small droid stood by handing them to him when he shouted the appropriate insult.

"Tri-phase spanner you fool, that's a bi-focal widget!"

Thrax heard a thump from the front of his shop.

"We're closed, go away."

Nothing but silence was the reply he got.

"What don't you understand, the go or the away?"

Thrax flapped out from under the speeder to see a barely concious Ushgarak on the floor.

"Uh, what, does this look like a hospital. Droid, go fetch a med kit."

The small droid hovered off and moments later returned with a small silver metal box. Thrax withdrew a medival looking device and spiked Ushgaraks arm with it.

"There, a stimulant to help you heal. I suppose I should dress your wounds but this gives me a perfect oppurtunity to test the med droid I fixed this morning."

Thrax made his way across the room and pressed a button at the back of a rather old looking droid and uttered a few instructions to it in Toydarian.

"We'll have you patched up in no time."

5 minutes later and a small amount of grimacing on the behalf of Thrax Ushgaraks wounds were dressed, as well as the rest of him, leaving what could have been mistaken for an ancient egyptian mummy. If of course there was such a place called Egypt.

USHGARAK

A little while later, Ushgarak had made contact with Coruscant. Luckily, no-one had shut down the comms on the planet. He was talking to his Master, Imorthorn.

"Queeq has already returned here," Imorthorn was saying. "It seems he caused quite a stir... The Council is unsure about what to do. The Senate is hesistant to get involved in a full scale war, and if they really do want independance there..."

"This is going to be Damagran all over again," finished Ushgarak.

"Indeed. I may try and send you some help, my old friend. Until then, do what you can to stablize the situation."

Ushgarak cut the link.

"Thankyou," he said, to Thrax. hrrax was just holding out hios hand. Ushgarak rolled his eyes, and reached for his money belt. Republic credits WERE still good here, thank God.

THRAX

"I'm afraid I don't take republic credits"

USHGARAK

"But credits will be fine!"

THRAX

"No, they won't"

USHGARAK

"No, credits WILL be fine!"

THRAX

"What? You think your some kind of Jedi...oh, never mind.."

USHGARAK

Eventually, Thrax and Ushgarak decided that the Knight owed the businessman a favour...

Feeling better, Ushgarak slipped back into the streets of Marakith, to try and unravel this mystery...

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

Gundark knew she had two things to do; get back to Marakith and find Ush, then get to her ship and try to contact queeq, who she knew was still off-world as she could not sense his presence anywhere here on Ulva. And Gundark knew queeq's presence above all others. Evading the swarming militia as they rounded up the populace was becoming increasingly difficult as she made her way to the ground transport station. Gundark found an unguarded shuttle when she sensed a commotion behind her. "You there ! Halt !" a voice shouted. Pulling her saber and igniting it in a smooth motion, Gundark spun toward her attackers. Eight men running straight at her, firing. What happened to asking questions first, Gundark thought. She blocked the blaster bolts one after another, and jumped backward into the pilot's seat of the small four passenger craft. She glanced at the controls and fired the converters. The moments distraction was all one of the militia troopers needed and his shot found its target. The laser beam pierced uncaringly through Gundark's clothing and into her upper right arm. She cried out in pain, the smell of burnt flesh filling her nose. She dropped her lightsaber into her lap and hit the thrusters on the shuttle at the same time. The shuttle soared out over the surface of Ulva, towards Marakith, Gundark gripping her arm and trying to mask her pain that she knew was calling out through the Force. She didn't want Ush or queeq to know she was hurt, everybody already had their hands full already. Then the black presence of the Norse began to beat at the back of her mind.....

Ushgarak
FINTI

Finti stood in the Main hall looking at the beat up seal of the planet Ulva. He had received information about intercepted communications with Coruscant, one of them from a wounded jedi. "So it`s Ushgarak, good I think he had a rendezvous with the dark side some time ago. He might be tempted of the good life again" Finti grinned as he now knew who the jedi is. Finti knew about the presence of a jedi named Gundark, but she was in Gard at the moment.
Finti contacted Raikk again. "Duke Raikk, contact the Galactic senate and declear independence. That will wake up those corrupt powerhungry senators and maybe they will be able to act upon it within our lifetime. Make sure you provoke them enough to send a force to stop our independence plans. Let them know of their failure with Senator Vendant, also be sure to let them know that all the minerals and riches of this planet no longer will be theirs, ever. And for really ticking them off tell them you plan to contact other systems to join you to create a competing governmental body."
Finti talked a couple of words with his troop commander in the courthouse. He then turned to the communicator"Find the jedi fast, he is wounded and should be of no match for a platoon, search all junkyards and pay off the junkowners that`s the only language they understand."
Finti moved into the mobile communication center which had extremely long range. After a while a hologram appeared on the table. It was off a young man dressed in the clothes of a jedi. "Ah-wen-gah", Finti said. "Activate the bomb in the Galactic Senate, and make sure they understand that The New Gard Independence Movement(NGIM) are responsible for this attack. Then blend inn at the jedi temple, they never sort you out our skills in hiding our dark force abilities are to clever, and keep me posted on the jedi`s movements."
Finti retreated to the darkness of the shadows, it was time for face 2.

Ushgarak
In the sewers, Ushgarak heard the commotion as the guards searched above. It was turning into a ngihtmare out there, quickly. Closing his eyes, he tried to fell the thoughts of those above... they were searching for him. Ushgarak hoped that the Junkyard owners hatred for the authorities was in excess of their greed... but he doubted it. Who were they working for? They were ordered by Duke Raikk... and there was another man somewhere a... damn! Too difficult to see.

Ushgarak wanted to return to the Courthouse, but he was not yet well enough to face trouble. His ship, then. They would have looked there for him already, of course, and it would be guarded now. It was unsafe to go there, but if he didn't go there soon they may destroy his beloved ship and then Ushgarak may never escape.

Ushgarak sighed., The Will of th Force was strong indeed. He wanted to chase down the hag Shareth, but obviously it was not to be...

He headed towards the spaceport.

QUEEQ

Coruscant. A middle aged Gardian is thrown to the floor before Supreme Chancellor Heboam. "We caught him trying to place this bomb in te Galactic Senate." The Senate captian reported in the Chancellor's chamber. "All Gardian representatives and their employess have been incarcerated."
"Well done." Heboam replied and then turned to the dark figure behind him. "Many thanks, Jedi Master."
queeq stepped out of the shadows and walked up to the Gardian still lying on the floor. He grabs him by his jacket, lifts him off the floor and peers deep into his eyes. "I see right through you. Answer me: who gave you your orders." The Gardian shivered but refused to answer. His fear to reveal the identity was greater than the one he had for the menacing Jedi. But his consciousness could not withstand reflecting on the Dark Lord whose anger would be unrelenting after him being discovered like this.

queeq suddenly dropped him and turned to the Chancellor. "I just return to Gard" queeq said and walked off. "May the Force be with you", Chancellor called after him.

At the exit of the Chancellor's chambers Ki-Adi Munid was waiting. queeq stopped for only a second. "Dark Jedi", queeq reported and left, leaving a trouble Ki-Adi behind.

Ah-wen-gah looked around the jedi temple, alitle smile occured on his face. The decoy bomber had been found, the real one couldnt be found. The explosive was injected into a aid to the Malastare senator. Unawere of the danger within his body this aid would be with his Senator in the senate later on. When the news of independance for New Gard anger would errupt. These flow off adrenalin emotion would trigger off the explosive and The Malastare senator box together with the nearest senator boxes would be blown up. The casulties will be a few but the action itself will be the biggest blow to the Senate. No doubt will revenge be sought and executed, but at New Gard they were ready for it.
The New Gard Elitetroopers were well trained and skilled in inter galactic warfare. They just had to wait for the attack and then the trap would fold on the attackers.

GUNDARK

Gundark stared at the fuel gage reading on the shuttle control panel. Nearly empty. She was beginning to regret her trip to Gard. Not your best choice for a vacation destination, she thought grimly. Gundark cut the shuttle speed to conserve fuel and ignored the Marakith skynet controller who barked at her through the com. The blaster wound throbbed badly and a tingling numbness had spread down her arm into her hand. At least her saber arm, her left, wasn't wounded. But it took two hands in a fight. Gundark turned slapped the com switch down, cutting off the skynet controller's voice in mid-command. Deciding she was in no shape to deal with the militia welcoming committee that she knew was waiting for her with a 'blasters first, questions later' attitude, she landed the shuttle in the outskirts, away from the Marakith ground transport station. The last dregs of fuel barely landed the small craft in rough clearing about a half kilometer outside the Marakith square. Well, not quite a clearing. Having taken out three or four small trees on the way down, it could now be considered a rough clearing, thought Gundark wryly. She clambered out of the craft and collapsed on the ground. Any landing you could walk away from was a good landing, especially when you were out of fuel, she told herself. Trouble was, walking away was made a little more difficult now by her leg that had slammed into the underside of the control panel on her landing. It wasn't broken; she knew that, as she could put some weight on it as she forced herself to stand. Gundark sighed. At least the pain in her leg now took her mind off the pain in her arm. She looked the shuttle. Well, that one was ready for the junk dealer. The afternoon had fled and the sun had dropped well in the sky. Knowing full well the skynet had tracked her landing, Gundark limped through the woods toward the towering permacrete buildings of Marakith. She sensed Ush's presence, still in the city, somewhere. Gundark also sensed the overwhelming evil that she had felt earlier in the shuttle. She continued slowly, mentally preparing herself to confront whatever darkness awaited her in Marakith, but physically she was drained. She did not have the precious time needed to heal herself with the Force, and until she sought medical attention, a confrontation with a Norse Sith was the last thing she needed. She wondered if queeq had reached Coruscant......

Ushgarak
QUEEQ

Coruscant. Security has been tripled and everyone entering the Senate or any of the other official buildings are undergoing scanning. It's almost as if Coruscant is under martial law.

At the spaceport queeq makes sure AKA 1138 has repaired the damage he sustained from the space battle. "Blasters working again?", queeq asked. "Okidoki. Work like charms. Ha ha ha ha." Aka replied. "Get ready then, we have to leave."

FINTI

Coruscant. Senate in session, message about New Gards declaration of independence is displayed. After a short but heated debate the bomb goes off. When the smoke clears the Malastare senate box is demolished, the nearest boxes suffered minor damages and injuries the rest of the senate are in shock. Some cry out in agony some in anger.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak was underneath the space port by now. He could sense the guards above, and was still unclear how he could actually get to the ship safely. he was probably going to have to risk a fight.

"Still alive, Jedi?" came a voice, the same one that had taunted him before.

"I'd heard youi were dead," said Ushgarak, suspicously. Thrax had told him of the demise of theman in yellow armour.

"You don't know much about me, Jedi. As I said, I'm a professional. We have certain... issues to work out here, Jedi, but be certain- Shareth isn't finished with you."

"She'll be finished when this is over," said Ushgarak. There was no reply, and Ushgarak could sense no-one nearby. A robot? A race immune to mind sense? Perhaps just a projected voice? A mystery, certainly.

Ushgarak briefly felt a short empathic sting of pain. Someone was hurt... he'd concentrate more on it later. He had too much to think about. Slowly, he made his way upwards to the space port.

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

Dusk was pressing as Gundark dragged her weary body from the woods and into the outskirts of Marakith. The streets were filled with troops and she had to maneuver her way carefully from building to building to avoid attention, holding her lightsaber carefully in her left hand, her right arm now hanging limply at her side, useless now, as a result of the untreated blaster wound. Eventually, Gundark reached the edge of the square in the center of the city. She gasped at the sight. The place was nearly in ruins, the area filled with smoke and debris, and despite the faltering light, saw entire platoons of troops, clearly in control of the courthouse and the square. The presence of the Norse left a metallic taste on her tongue. The pain in her arm and her leg were oppressive. Gundark knew the evil would feel her out, this near, this close to confrontation...

Ushgarak
Ushgarak, in the ventilation systems at the starport, had made his way along to where his ship was. It still seemed intact, thank the Force. Some twenty guards were posted around it. But...wait... what exactly was going on down there...

Ushgarak
XIZOR

Supreme Chancellor Palpatine scowled in the darkness of his Coruscant chambers. He digested the information Finti had transmitted, pleased with the outcome, yet unable to show pleasure on his scarred visage.
Palpatine turned to a figure shrouded in darkness: "They've taken over the system and declared independance, soon the weak senate will be in an uproar and the Jedi most vulnerable."

"Yes, my lord"

"I give you command of a Strike Cruiser and three battleships Admiral. Take five legions of our special forces and rendevous with Lord Finti. Assist him in every capacity. Give him support on the ground and in the air as you prepare for the Jedi offensive. I trust you know what to do...."

The figure moved, light hit his pale blue skin, his red eyes glistened: "Of course my lord.... kill the Jedi."

The young Admiral bowed and marched off to the sound of the Supreme Chancellors wheezing cackle.

Ushgarak
Ushgaraks' ship was surounded by a dozen security guards, and a number of automatic defences. Tricky. But more men were arriving- Shareth's men! There seemd to be an arguement starting down there.

So then... a definite split in the forces of evil here. This situation could be exploited... but Ushgarak needed a ship. He could not get to the Eye of the Moon with all that attention there. Where could he find another ship, in...

Gundark. Gundark's ship. Of course! He would ave to contatc her somehow. And... wait... Gundark was hurt.

Ushgarak felt the flow of the Force for a few moments. Then he set off to look for his friends.

Ushgarak
XIZOR

"Entering real space now Admiral," The Strike Cruiser's Luitenant gave a stiff nod and briskly marched back to his post.
The Admiral gazed out the main view point at the Gard system. Beautiful and peaceful on the outside it was in inner turmoil. Thrawn smiled to himself, such chaos would always work to the master strategists advantage.
In diamond formation the Cruiser and it's escort of 3 battleships cut through space, bristling with weapondry.
Thrawn turned to his comm officer "Try to make contact with Lord Finti, I'd like to discuss my arrival."

Ushgarak
GUNDARK

Finding no trace of Ush amidst the rubble of the Marakith square, Gundark decided to try to make her way back to the spaceport, get off-world and back to Coruscant so she could tell the council of the dire circumstances erupting here. Her mind stretched in three desparate directions; her sense of Ush, that she still felt as a tiny prick of light in the evil blackness that swirled around the Norseman; queeq, whos absence in this wretched chaos engulfing this world frustrated her beyond words; and lastly, the unyielding pain in her arm and leg. Gundark knew the last would be her undoing unless she dealt with it. Fast. Slipping into an alcove in a crumbling building, temporarily safe from the troops that were policing the area in droves, she sat on the cold stone, injured leg outstretched and pulled her Jedi robe close around her and brought the Force in with it. Gundark took all of the pain and focused it into a tiny circle which she deposited in the back of her mind, back behind a thin wall that she knew, when it toppled, would unleash its fury doubly upon her. The Force swam through her with its numbing power, deliciously now, and Gundark stood without pain. Lightsabre in hand, she continued picking her way toward the spaceport in the failing light.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak had a vague sense that Gundark was nearby, but he was not powerful enough to pick her out from all the millions of minds around- minds full of fear and panic. And there was something else now, making the fear worse... Ushgarak knew nothing yet of the coming invasion.

Move on move on... Ushgarak had to keep moving...

The walkways of Marakith were full of crowded, panicking people. The new authorities were still restoring order, and there were a lot of old scores to be settled as those from Gard took control. Ushgarak tried to oush past the throngs of crowds...

And then it seemed he was alone on a walkway. Standing, some twenty feet away from him, was a man dressed in a dark blue robe, twirled around him. Six men, three either side of him, were dressed in the same yellow armour that Ushgarak had seen before.

"End of the road, Jedi?" said the man in White.

'If this person is as professional as he says', wandered Ushgarak to himself, 'why doesn't he stop talking and start shooting?'

Still in pain from his wound, Ushgarak drew his sabre. The man in White just laughed.

"You won't win here today, Jedi!" he said. Strange... Ushgarak could still feel nothing from him. And in the men in yellow, he just sensed sharp, focussed minds that would not be distracted.

"Tell Shareth that her time is coming..." said Ushgarak. He ran towards the men, who had their blasters levelled at him. Ushgarak slid under their fire, with the speed of the Force. Closing to one, he brought his sabre up, slicing easily through the man, Twirling, he deflected more bolts. If he could stay balanced on hos good side...

Lazily, the man in White flicked a hand, and sent Ushgarak reeling over the edge of the walkway...

Ushgarak
QUEEQ

Suddenly the street lit up with a bright light and a thundering roar as if some kind of atomic was set off many miles away. Four of the men dressed in yellow were killed instantly by the blast from nowhere. The Man in White and his remaining follower were dazzled, knocked off their feet. When vision returned to their hurting eyes the street was empty.

In an alley a few blocks down the road leading to the outskirts of the city Ushgarak was laid down on the floor by a mysterious man in a black robe, holding a buly blaster with smoke hurling up from the nozzle into the bright sky of this remote planet. "Gundark is near, we will find her soon. We've got to get off this planet. A battle fleet has arrived, so leaving this place will be very tricky." The man removed his hood, revealing the stoic face of Master queeq. "Where's your ship?"

USHGARAK

Ushgarak, still bleary, was trying to come to his senses.

"queeq..." he said. "My thanks... my ship... the Eye of the Moon..."

Memory returned.

"It's at the spaceport. Yes... under guard. They won't destroy it. Shareth will want to wave the fact she has captured it in my face. I know her of old..."

Ushgarak fell painfully back again.

"A... a battlefleet?"

GUNDARK

Gundark's saber hummed as she confronted two armed troopers blocking her path. Following her Jedi sense, she declined to attack immediately. "Halt, Jedi," one of them ordered, pulling his blaster. The other man followed suit, aiming directly at Gundark's skull. She blocked the blaster bolt that followed with her saber and dispatched the two men with a note of regret. It galled her to kill, but these two were obviously not the conversational type. Her pain, awakened by the brief confrontation, threatened to escape its tiny prison. Gundark reached out through the Force, sensing Ush and, surprisingly, queeq, quite near.

QUEEQ

"I doubt you can get access to the spaceport anymore. Come on." queeq hauls Ushgarak over his shoulder who groans in agony. But queeq ignores him and reaches out with the Force for that sensation that was once so familiar to him. queeq and Ushgarak disappear in the shadows of the city.

"Are you hurt badly?"
"Pretty much.... queeq...." Gundy looked up towards the invisible speaker in the shadows. Then queeq emerged from the darkness, revealing a familiar person lying over his shoulder. "USHGARAK!" Gundy cried and then looked upt o queeq. "What is going on?"
"Let's get out of here", queeq replied and turned around. As he started to walked he looked back at Gundark. "Can you walk?" "Yes, I'm...fine.", she lied. Then she felt a sensation through the Force causing a familiar tingling through her injured body and strength returning to her wounded body parts. queeq turned his head and said. "Let's go... now!"

Ushgarak
FINTI

Finti sensed the struggling jedis, but decided as long as they are running from his forces the safest place for them would be far from this planet. At this moment a group of dark jedis was approaching him.
" We have learnt that Ah-wen-ga was successful with the senate bombing" The tallest of them said.
"Good, their reaction will be sudden and poorly planed"
Finti was pleased with the events for the time being. He was also pleased with the arrival of the dark jedis led by Eli-Chi, named after Finti`s old master. It was time to encounter the mysterious stranger dressed in white robes accompanied with his yellow armored troops. He had been around messing things up far too long. Finti meant the encounter would be brief. 10 dark jedis, not counting himself, would scare the living daylight out of them. Time to show some real strength, time to show them the power of the dark side.

Ushgarak
QUEEQ

The three Jedi arrived at a small open spot in the forest. Ushgarak was hardly conscious now and Gundark seemed to feel better. Among the shadowy trees two red lights lit up and a mechanical voice greeted them. "Quo Vadis? Stick 'm up. Ha ha ha ha."
"AK, fire up the converters. Get this ship into space. Programme our trajectory now. Destination Coruscant." queeq brought Ushgarak on board and strapped him in one of the seats. He walked out again and looked at Gundark. "How will you get past that battle fleet?" "Cloaking. It'll be dark for another hour so we can use the cloaking device to leave the atmosphere. As soon as your outside the planet's gravity pull, Ak will drop the cloak and make the jump to hyperspace. We must hurry."
Gundark got on board, queeq followed her inside to tend her wounds. "When you get to Coruscant inform the Jedi Council there are Republican battleships circling the planet. Not a word to the Chancellor. Understand?" Gundark looked around in the small fighter which only had two seats and a place for the droid. "You're not coming with us?" queeq only looked at her and grabbed a bag with some equipment. Then, from an overhead compartment he took two lightsabres, slightly smaller than a normal sized light sabre, and placed them hilt down in two holsters under both his arms. "queeq!", Gundark snapped, "You can't stay her. Look what they did to us." queeq ignored her and gestured to his droid. "Come on, AK, get going. Time is running out." "Yippee hi ho", AK replied while wheeling into the sleek fighter.
Within seconds the fighter took off and before it lifted above the tree tops it disappeared from sight. Now queeq was alone.

USHGARAK

Ushgarak awoke on the way home. It took him a few moments to collect his wits, and remember what had happened.

Damn it! That cow of a Hutt had his ship!

His first thought was to contact his master... but he didn't have a clue how to use the comms on this damn ship. And some droid was jabberiong on at him...

GUNDARK

Gundark's attention turned from the controls of the fighter that she had taken over from AK, much to the droid's reluctance, to Ush, who was fiddling with the com unit. He appeared to have regained his senses and she smiled to herself at the droid's frustration with her fellow Jedi. AK yammered at Ushgarak in Basic, but with a comical flair that only queeq could have programmed the droid with. "Doesn't that thing work ?" Gundark queried Ush as his hands moved over the switches.

USHGARAK

"It... it seems to be based on a system I'm not familiar with... stupid custom ship!"

GUNDARK

"We'll be on Coruscant in a few Standard hours...." Gundark started, glancing briefly at AK's navicomputer. She turned to look back at Ushgarak again. His frustration with the com had distracted him and she pulled away from his thoughts. "How's your shoulder ?" She asked simply.

USHGARAK

"I've had worse," said Ushgarak. It was true, he had, and nearly all because of Shareth... mind you, Shareth had lost a lot to Ushgarak over time as well. it was a spiral of hatred that Ushgarak's old Master continually berated him for, yet it seemed to be the Will of the Force that the two enemies kept meeting...

Queeq's ship sped on towards Coruscant...

Ushgarak
PHINNEY

A teenage boy named Phinney, has been ease dropping on the senate and it's memebers. He young and arrogant, and thinks he can control all himself. He The goes to his ship and sets a course for the planet. Does he know what waits for him??? Will Finti somehow find a way to minipulate this boy. Only time will tell.

(Edit by Ush... boy, I like this power...

Phinney- don't forget to put your character profile in the profiles thread. It's not obligatory, but it's convenient. Still waiting for queeq to put something there, actually...)

queeq
A dark figure carrying a back pack drew near to the city of Gard. It's skyline was being decorated by dozens of fighters and ships descending down to the spaceport. queeq got out his macrobinoculars to see this activity up close. All the fighters were carrying republic markings, yet no lasers were fired to stop the "intrusive" fighters. As queeq lowered his macrobinoculars he knew the Reublica had been betrayed and that the elusive dark force that had taken hold of this peaceful planet had made a pact with the commander of the battle fleet he had seen outside the planet's atmosphere.

queeq packed his equipment and disappeared in the suburbian alleys of the city of Gard.

finti
Finti and his dark jedis surrounded the man in white and his yellow armored soldiers. After a swift battle the only remaining opponent was the white robed man.
Finti felt he was with the force, yet it was undeveloped. Finti told him to follow them back to the courthouse and he did.
The white robed man knew he had little chance against 11 well trained jedis, or dark jedis as he learned on their way to the courthouse.
"If you want I know a fallen jedi master who can fullfill your training of the way of the force." Finti noticed the interest in the white robed mans eyes as he said this. "If you agree", Finti continued "you can join us, and when your training is done follow us as we replace the jedi`s as guardiance of the republic." Finti looked into the shadows and then said. " The jedi`s are strong guardiance, but without the help of the darkside of the force they are not powerfull enough, we on the other hand use both side of the force, this makes us powerful"
The white robed man felt a shiver of coldness and fear as he heard these words, he thought this was a great chance for him, to serve this Norse order would be perfect. He felt a great honour to follow the lead of Finti. Shareth the hutt had him as a servant no longer.
Finti continued his small lecture, "We belive in the simple thing and what can come out of those things like fear. Fear attracts the fearfull, the strong, the weak, the innocent, the corrupt. Fear is one of our allies. So it is with anger hatred, but also the calm of the light side. Sometime attack and agression is not the best option, but the fact they are an option makes us powerful and dangerous." Whith those word the white robed man, named Renno left with three dark jedi for training with Gohnkaba, another fallen jedi master.
A soldier came up to Finti to report the arrival of Admiral Thrawn, " Hmm the lakei of the chancellor, he and his fleet will be usefull for our trap of the republic retaliation." Finti grinned at the thought of that all have gone as planned so far. He still felt some sort of presence though like a small stirring in the force. He ordered his dark jedis too take time out search their feelings, search for this presence he had felt. If they felt something too there was no doubt another jedi around.

Gundark
Gundark hesitated before speaking again. Although she outranked Ushgarak as a Master, she considered him a knowledgeable and capable Knight and respected him as a friend. "This Hutt is consuming your thoughts, Ush. You know the council will sense this," she ventured evenly. "I suggest you concentrate on the present so we can make the situation clear to Master Yoda and the council." Gundark gave her fellow Jedi a knowing smile.

Ushgarak
"We met for a reason, I'm sure of it," says Ushgarak, still checking out the fighter controls. "Nothing happens by chance..." Something else occurred to Ushgarak. He turned to face Gundark.

"Did you see anyone else other than us using Force powers back there?"

phinney6
While still in space, Phinney6 started to have doubts, what if there really was a dangerous problem on the planet. It counldn't
be that bad, or the jedi woul be jedi there and have it under control. After he thought awhile, he plotted a course back the Corosunt. When he arrived he was just in time to stop, and chat with Queeq. He knew Queeq, and admired his flying.

Gundark
"Not directly," Gundark answered. "I sensed the presence of the dark side the whole time I was in Gard province. When I managed to get back to Marakith, the feeling was almost overwhelming." She looked thoughtful. "I had to reach far beyond to find you and queeq." Gundark rubbed her still-sore arm. The synthflesh queeq had applied to the blaster wound itched incessantly. She nodded to the navicomputer. "Looks like we're coming up on Coruscant."

Ushgarak
"The Dark Side..." said Ushgarak, thoughtfully. "Surely not... but it would change things.

"I must speak to my Master," said Ushgarak, as the droid expertly began the landing procedure.

Gundark
"We should address the council together," Gundark pointed out. "I will wait for you outside the council chamber until you've spoken with Imorthorn." She turned to the droid. "AK, tell the skynet we wish to land on platform 397."

Ushgarak
A little while later, Ushgarak was cleaning himself up in his quarters, his wounds healed, and his wits restored. His door opened, and Imorthorn came in.

(Imorthorn looks like David Wanrer, by the way).

"You sensed I wanted to see you?" asked Ushgarak.

"Actually," said Imorthorn, "that was just plain deduction. The surprise of your return... you always want to see me when something goes wrong." Imorthorn smiled. "You're still a child in many ways, Ush. Always wanting to play with your powers when the Mind on its own will do. And there is always someone one step ahead of you. The Force may be your ally, but that's no good if you don't concentrate is it?"

"It's a little early for lectures, isn't it?" said Ushgarak. Imorthorn widened his arms in supplication.

"You know I have faith in you. It was an unexpected situation; the best of us would have been caught out."

"Someone is maipulating the Force," said Ushgarak. "They were..." Imorthorn raised his hand to stop him.

"I know," said Imorthorn. "Gundark has mentioned it. She's waiting for you to make a full report to the Council"

"Hmm," said Ushgarak.

"You know, Ush," said Imorthorn, "You should listen to her more. She may be young for a Master but she is no fool. You need allies like her, no matter how much experience with the pirate clans you have. You would do wel to learn from her."

"Maybe," said Ushgarak. Imorthorn smiled.

"You fear for her safety? Ushgarak, I've told you before, a Master's responsbilities as a Knight do not end with Masterhood. There is still a Galaxy out there to protect, and the Masters need to be out there as much as anyone. Where would YOU be if I had not been fighting the darkness you would seek to shield all of us from?"

"She's too important to waste on exploratory missions like this one," said Ushgarak.

"Gundark can make up her own mind on that," said Imorthorn. "And it was well that she was there; what if our enemy had been able to focus all his resources on you? And you should be thankful to have a Master with you.

"What does the Council think of all this, Master?" said Ushgarak, keen to change the subject away from criticism.

"It is difficult to say," said Imorthorn. "The sudden shock of the situation has cuaght us all off-guard... but in a way, I sense they are not as surprised as I would have imagined... as if they were searching for something like this."

"Will they send us back?"

"Possibly... but it is difficult. Now that New Gard has announced its independance, which was legal, we have no official power there. And the new govenrment is... not friendly"

"But they cannot bar me from going myself? As a private citizen?"

"Absolutely not, and they will probably encourage both of you to do so, unofficially. Incidentally, the official response is bogged down in the Senate, much to the anger of the Malastarians..."

"Perhaps they won't want to send us back. Queeq is on planet. He may deal with things." Imorthorn laughed.

"Yes, of course... Queeq is a remarkable man, Ush, and he can more than take care of himself. But he's hardly the man to bring... political stability... if you know what I mean."

"Yes..." laughed Ushgarak back... "I see. Then what should I do."

"Return, if the Council advises it. But don;t confront them directly; you cannot face down the whole planet, Make friends, like that Dealer you met. Find people. Other traders. Pilots. Militia men. Supporters of the old regime. Anyone that can help you get a grip on the situation. And I will see what I can find out on your behalf."

"Thankyou, Master. Will they send Gundark back?"

"She will insist. And you should not complain. She knows the risks. Masters have long fought and even died in defence on the Republic... even recently..." Imorthorn sat down, heavily. Ushgarak senses the grief in his mind.

"You still grieve for Qui-Gon, Master?" asks Ushgarak.

"He was a good friend..." said Imorthorn. "And the greatest of all of us. That he could be killed... baffles me."

"Has the Council telled you what happened to him yet?"

"Not everything. And that also troubles me... be careful, Ush. I sense a darkness rising in the Republic that has been left unnoticed for too long. And I am too old now to go out and fight it myself... You must stay focussed!"

"Yes, Master."

"Now, go. Do not keep the Council waiting."

Ushgarak left, leaving Imorthorn to think about his old friend...

Gundark
Gundark slowly opened her eyes. She let the last vestiges of the healing trance leave her mind and body, the Force moving through her as the wind moved the sands in the desert, every grain individual, yet creating the next dune as one.

She sat up on the bed and collected her wits. Gundark knew the council was waiting, with infinite patience, but waiting nontheless. When they landed on Coruscant, she had submitted to the TooOneBee unit in the med suite for treatment, then returned to her quarters for a rest. By the time Gundark had showered and changed, she felt whole again. She left her quarters and walked toward the council chambers, pulling her thoughts together along the way. The dark presence that had been felt on Gard must be identified and dealt with. Then there was that situation with Shareth. She would have to question Ushgarak on that further. Unless the council did first.

Gundark stood patiently outside the chamber, reaching out briefly to Ush. She sensed he was still with his Master, and not wanting to intrude on their privacy, withdrew. Her thoughts briefly centered on queeq. Raging his own private battle on Gard, Gundark thought disapprovingly. His ways with the Force were not her ways. Well, not anymore. Not since Gom......

phinney6
While is space Phinney is feeling bad about his disition to go the the Planet> After all the senate did seem to think it was bad. He decides to turn around to head back to Corasunt. When he gets there he see's a ship that he has not seen in awhile, but he remember it.

queeq
New Gard. The streets were busy, but not as usual. The vast amount of Republic and New Gard soldiers keeping an eye on the crowds did cause an oppressive feeling that could be sensed even by a non Force sensitive person.
Among the merchants was queeq, in perfect disguise an controlling his Force sensations. He had mastered the hidden ability to send off no Force sensations at all. He had sensed the Dark Side on New Gard and knew they might sense him too. It had taken him a long time to master this ability, taught to him by the blind hermit Jedi Master Antar Oth in the desolate caves of Gom's mountain ridge. The many months he spent here against his own will had taught him many of the Force's deepest secrets. Control!

queeq walked down the street pulling his cart with Insaltines, noticing and remembering all the little details for later use.
When he passed the administrative buildings he sensed the Dark Side, stronger than he had before. Growing. queeq knew this army was too big for him to handle, but the power that binded them all, that was another matter.

queeq pulled his cart from the crowds into one of the calmer alleys and disappeared, again.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak hurried over to Gundark as she waited outside the Council room.

"Sorry, Master," he said. "I had a lot to think about." Gundark simply smiled. For a moment, Ushgarak thouight she was trobuled by something, but then it passed.

"Shall we go in?" asked Gundark. Ushgarak nodded, and they went inside.

Gundark
Gundark and Ushgarak entered the council chamber and walked to the center of the room to face Master Yoda. They both knelt and bowed their heads respectfully to the elder Jedi. "Welcome, Master Gundark and young Knight Ushgarak," Yoda said. "Much you have to tell us, I think." As Mace Windu and the rest of the council nodded a brief greeting, Gundark and Ushgarak rose to their feet. Gundark felt, as she always did in the council chamber, many layers of the Force, penetrating her very being, all seeing her as one vision. "The situation on Gard has become critical. Ushgarak and I decided to separate and I continued on to the province of New Gard while he stayed in Marakith. The militia take over I observed in New Gard is speading over the planet, as was the prescence of the Dark Side of the Force." Gundark nodded to her fellow Jedi. "Although I believe Ushgarak had a more direct confrontation with the Dark Side than I." Yoda digested this and turned his attention to Ushgarak. "And what have you tell us, young Knight ? Much, I think."

Ushgarak
Ushgarak opened his mouth to speak.

"Angry, are you?" said Yoda, before he could.
Ushgarak looked non-plussed for a moment.

"No, Master," said Ushgarak. "Merely determined." Yoda sat back in his chair, smiling knowingly at Ushgarak.

"The Hutts are involved as well," said Ushgarak. "I'm not sure how."

"Valorum has said that the Hutts will be one day dealt with," said Mace Windu, "but not today."

"We will have to move quickly to prevent Gard and Marakith falling to the darkness..." said Ushgarak.

"Wish a war, do you?" said Yoda.

"We must do what is practical," replied Ushgarak.

"Perhpas we should focus on your mission," said Ki-Adi. "We sent you to assess the political situation. What has become of the Trade Federations' contacts in the area?"

"Gone to ground," said Ushgarak. "I didn't see any of them there. Working for the Hutts, perhaps?"

"And what of the old Government?" aksed Windu. "They, at least, were reasonable."

"As far as I know," said Ushgarak, "they have been destroyed. Those remaining will be too scared to help us. Perhaps if we move quickly..."

"If we move quickly," said Windu, "the situation could de-stablise. The Chancellor has already sent a response, but we are currently unclear on what it is. In any case, their declaration of independance WAS legal. It is not our job to change that."

"But surely the situation must be dealt with, Master?" asked Ushgarak. Windu, Yoda and Mundi all exchanged glances.

"Your old Master still speaks highly of you," said Windu, though Yoda did not seem happy at the compliment. "And you are the only Knight available now who has enough experience of the culture in that area."

"Then I am to go back?" asked Ushgarak.

"We will not ask you not to go," said Ki-Adi. "We would like someone to continue investigating the situation."

"But understand," said Windu, "we want the area stabilised. We do not want outright war. We are not sending you back to destroy our possible enemies there. We want you to use your contacts and influence to try and bring order to the area, not to help burn the planet to the ground."

"I understand, Master," said Ushgarak. "But..." Windu cut him off.

"And we do not qwant you to pursue a personal vendetta against the Hutts, "said Windu." Ushgarak looked crestfallen. "Their day will come, young Knight. You must be patient". Ushgarak just nodded.

"Now," said Windu, "perhaps we should hear more from Master Gundark. Tell us more of this dark presence you felt?" he asked, asnd Gundark felt that they seemed to be even more interested in this than she thought they would be...

Gundark
"The dark presence I felt was as strong as the Sith Lord I encountered on Gom on a few years ago." Gundark stated, the memory of the confrontation still as fresh in her mind as if it had happened that morning. It had taken her total knowledge of the Force to defeat the Sith, every last ounce of her strength to finally deliver the killing blow with her lightsaber. Gundark had recovered physically, with just a few scars to show, but the impression the Sith had left on her mind was indelible in its evil. She shoved it to the back of her mind along with everything else that had transpired on Gom. In that dark place. The screaming place. "In the short time that Ushgarak and I were in Marakith, I sensed the presence became stronger. Not in the strength of one, but in the strength in numbers," Gundark hesitated, feeling Windu looking straight through her into her deepest thoughts. She knew there was no point in hiding it. "I feel it was the Sith, in some form, returned." The finality of her statement echoed throughout the chamber and she felt Ush's tenseness beside her.

Yoda and Windu exchanged a sideways look. "This could be connected to the asassin who destroyed Master Qui-Gon," Windu suggested, putting a thumb and forefinger to his chin in thought. He sat so still Gundark thought he looked like a statue. Finally Yoda spoke. "More answers we need."

queeq
Three Dark Jedi patrolled the administrative buildings. The starry night glittered with unusually close stars. But a closer look revealed they were not stars, but battle ships. The streets were empty now. An eerie emptiness, fear was in the air. New Gard was now a city under martial law. The Dark Jedi used all their Force senses to discover this Jedi presence their Master had felt a few days ago.

As they wandered into the alleys, queeq decided to leave his calling card for the one who was training these men. This disruption might unsettle balance in the control of these battleships and a Jedi or republic retaliation force could gain the advantage.

queeq slipped out of the niche were he was hiding and stood in the middle of the alley, right behind the Dark Jedi. He waited an instant. The Dark Jedi turned around when the alley lit up by a purple light, igniting in a flash their red sabres. There they saw a dark figure holding two sabres.

It was all over in a matter of seconds, when the head of the last Dark Jedi rolled down the alley and came to a standstill in one of the gutters. queeq reinserted his two sabres in the holsters under his arms while standing over the smoking corpses of these mysterious Jedi. He bowed down when he saw an identification key slipping out of one of the warrior's garments. He picked it up, looked at it and put it in his pocket. In a flash his sabres ignited and cut deep into the side of the dead body where the card had been. Any card would have melted to pulp when struck like that.

queeq placed back his sabre and disappeared into the shadows of New Gard, which was as empty as it was before...

Ushgarak
Uashgarak was pakcing his things, The Council had wanted to talk to Gundark longer than they wanted to talk to him.

So, he was going back... well, it seemed to be his destiny. This time, he would go in better prepared.

First problem was transport. Queeq's ship was already flying back to New Gard, presumably on queeq's orders. Gundark and Ushgarak's ships were still at the planet. They could get official transport, but thst wouldn't be a great idea in the circumstances.

No matter. Ushgarak had a dozen Corellian contacts who had offices on Coruscant who could help... he could talk to them while Gundark was still busy.

Zereil
Trying to gain his footing he placed his hand on the burnished steel surface of the wall before him. This just wasn't quite right. As he looked around the room it all seemed to hold a sense of familiarity, but still wasn't right for the here and now. Blood on his hands, looking down at himself and his attire he soon realised it was his own. coughing as he stumbled across the apartment he muttered to himself.
'God that explains the pain'Taking in the whole surroundings he noticed that it was sp****ly decorated with little to note except the corpse laying in front of him. Crouching down he rolled the body over to see if there was anything special about him, but it didn't seem so. Carrying himself over to a mirror he looked at contempt at the image before him. Unshaven and covered in muck and a combination of different forms of blood spattered all over his robe. He seemed to be carrying a lightsaber on his belt wish was puzzling as he had already had been holding one in his hand as he had gotten up. Perculier they were very different. On the one on his belt there were strange markings on engraved upon the hilt. No matter at this juncture it mattered little to him. Taking the Robe and shirt from the corpse as well as the blaster from the corpses arm that seemed to have been seperated from him. Probably an unfortunate circumstance, he moved to the door, only to find just a corridor. At the end of which however there seemed to be a lift of some kind. As he edged down the corridor to the lift he looked out at the view ports along it to see what seemed like endless city. No this still didn't seem right, not at all...

Ushgarak
(It censored spar-sely... oh, something has to be done...)

By the end of the day, Ushgarak had acquired a ship (nothing special, but good enough) and clearance to return to Marakith as a 'private' citizen, accompanied by Gundark. There was a LOT of business to catch up on there. Ushgarak finished packing his things before leaving the Temple once more. As he left, he saw a note left by Imorthorn.

"Shareth, my apprentice... let her go."

Taking the note thoughtfully, Ushgarak left for the launch pad.

finti
Finti planned his next move, but first the betrayal of Sareth the hutt had to be dealt with he knew about her sanctuary and it was time for payback.
Finti was also informed by Ah-wen-gah about the latest development in the jedi temple. He was warned about a, close to a rouge, jedi named Queeq who was on the loose on Gard.
"Queeq is on the verge of a dark jedi, his recklessness might come in handy for us, maybe we can turn him, if not he`ll die." The transmition with Ah-wen-gah was perfect Finti noticed with a smile as A-wen-gah continued."He is kind of a loner at least thats the word around the jedi temple."
"Well" Finti said " loners are often the worst kind, they always think the world of themselves and listens to nobody but themselves." "Anyways I have to deal with a Hutt, then I can look for this loner jedi.

Gundark
Gundark had left the Jedi council chamber with mixed emotions. She walked slowly to Ushgarak's quarters, turning the last of the conversation with the council over in her mind.

"You truly feel this prescence on Gom is Sith. That much is clear," stated Windu. "You and Ushgarak are to take whatever steps necessary to control the situation. But you understand we don't want a war on our hands." Gundark nodded. Yoda finally spoke. "Faith we have in you, Gundark. But control the path of queeq we cannot," Yoda's voice dropped an octave. "Waits to claim him, the dark side does." Gundark bit her lip, knowing what Yoda was going to tell her. "Use you, the dark side will, to take him." "Master, I cannot..." Gundark began. "Bring queeq to the good side you will," Yoda told her. His voice was final and she knew better than to protest. "Yes, Master," she answered. "You will join Ushgarak on the return trip to Gard," Windu ordered. "May the Force be with you." Gundark knew the conversation was at an end. She bowed respectfully and left the chamber.

Now, left with her own thoughts, she began to mentally prepare herself to confront queeq. But Gundark knew she would have to confront the darkness hidden in the back of her mind first. The darkness she had hidden since Gom. She realized she was standing at the door to Ushgarak's quarters and quickly shook off the chill that had settled upon her shoulders. She touched the door control panel to let Ush know she was waiting to see him.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak was just opening the door.He was surprised to see Gundark before him.

"Master..." he said. "Good to see you. We can launch immediately... if that is alright with you..."

Was she troubled by something?

Gundark
"Yes, that's fine, Ushgarak. I'm ready to go," Gundark answered, then realizing her thoughts had leaked out to him, "we'll talk on the way." She grinned at him. "I assume you've secured transport...of some kind ?"

Ushgarak
"The Force always provides..." saisd Ushgarak, cheerfully. He wasn't joking; the ship he had acquired was a converted Nubian Star Racer... should make for an interesting trip...

queeq
queeq looked out over the city from the top of a hospital building on the south side of Gard. The busy activities of martial law were still going on: military control, fighters and transports flying on and off. Yet, nothing had changed much. He had expected more of a nervous response from this mysterious dark force user inside the administrative buildings. The death of these dark jedi should have raised more response.
"I can work only at stealth now", queeq thought. "Anything more can only get me killed, not that that'd matter, but it wouldn't help thsi situation either."
He pulled out his macrobinoculars and zoomed in on the court inside the administrative building. An interesting meeting took place, and there was a familiar face. Admiral Thraw greeted a man dressed in dark robes, followed by several mysterious people. Some looked exactly like the two gentleman whom he send off to the netherworld earlier. And there was another man he had seen before, the man dressed in yellow. queeq realised the tall man in dark robes was the one in control here.
"Time for another calling card..." queeq reached out with the Force towards this dark figure and then stopped it immediately. Through his macrobinoculars he could see the dark man look up for a moment.
"Hello...", queeq greeted him softly and then climbed down from his look-out point.

finti
Finti monitored the meeting between his own trusted aprentice Eli-Chi and Admiral Thrawn.
Once again Finti was surrounded by darkness, a trembeling in the force made Finti smile. "So my little rouge jedi is close" he said to himself. Finti knew Eli-Chi would sence him too. Finti turned to the 10 dark jedis behind him, "Who are those not accounted for". "Some wanna be jedis" was the quick reply. "They were quite handy with the sword, but the force is not with them."
Finti considered the new fact as he said "Thrawn will have control of this place together with Raiik. When Eli-Chi comes back we are ready for departure." After a couple of minutes Eli-Chi joined the others and together they left Gard in their cloacked ship and soon headed into light speed.
It was now up to Admiral Thrawn and Raiik to control the system and they would use whatever means neccessary to do so. With iron hand the system would be controled.

Gundark
Ushgarak and Gundark emerged from the shuttle that had deposited them at platform 221 and Gundark raised her eyebrows at the Nubian. "Nice transport," she said with a knowing smile.

Ushgarak
'Yeah, I got overtaken by one once near the third moon of Jaglan Beta... smooth mover...looks like a fish, moves like a fish..." Ushgarak scowled. "Steers like a cow..."

Gundark
"In that case," Gundark laughed, "You're at the controls. I'll enjoy the view."

Ushgarak
"Yes, Master,..." said Ushgarak. What WAS it with Masters and never taking the helm of anything?

Ushgarak soon had the ship powered up and ready to launch...

Gundark
"Coordinates are set for Gard," Gundark said, looking up from the navicomputer. "Lets get going."

Ushgarak
From the Temple, Imorthorn watched as the ship left into the depths of space... he closed his eyes, softly.

"You're worried, Imorthorn," said WIndu, approaching from behind.

"You've felt it as well as I," said Imorthorn. Windu nodded. "So why did we not tell him?"

"Yoda advised us not to," said Windu. "He said it would be dangerous."

"Ushgarak could pay with his life," said Imorthorn. "And maybe even Gundark."

"Something boht of them have always been willing to do," said Windu. "Besides, his future there is clouded."

"And hers?"

"Only she can tell that."

"Hmm..." said Imorthorn. Windu turned to leave.

"We may ask for your help, Master Imorthorn," said Windu. "Depending on how things go..."

Gundark
Gundark was contemplative as the Nubian slipped through hyperspace under Ushgarak's capable control. "I have not seen Imorthorn recently. He is well, I trust ?" she asked.

Ushgarak
'He's not been the same since Quio-Gon died,' said Ushgarak, trying to work out how the bloosy navigation system worked on this ship. Stupid Nubians...

'Sometimes I feel he is ready to give up this life... he's acheived so much yet he sees the Republic in disarray all around him. Sometimes I think he only stays around because he thinks... he thinks he may be needed.'

Ushgarak turned to Gundark.

"He still talks highly of YOU, Master."

Gundark
"We were close, once," Gundark said slowly, closing her eyes and letting her mind drift back to her relationship with Imorthorn, now buried deep in the past. A relationship that had formed out of the ashes of what queeq had left behind for her, the remains of heartache, of sweet pleasures, of brutal death. Their love had been a test, between queeq and herself, always trying to keep up with them, always frowned upon by the council, a infusion of lust and frustration, a combination of human nature and the constant, unforgiving Jedi life that they both were bound to. When that life tore them apart into light and something not quite dark, queeq left. Left her with her faith in the Force and little else. Gundark swallowed hard. She opened her eyes, saw Ushgarak watching her closely. She smiled slightly, knowing he had plainly read her thoughts. "Imorthorn picked up the pieces," she continued. "We had a bond strengthened by the Force. The council didn't know, at first." She hesitated. "Perhaps I shouldn't be telling you this.....now."

Ushgarak
This explains a lot..., Ushgarak was thinking.

"Please go on," said Ushgarak, keen to know more of the past of both Masters. "What happened?"

Gundark
Gundark continued, reliving the memories as if it was yesterday. "The council sent Imorthorn and myself to Gom to retrieve a small boy that had been recognized as force-sensitive. I didn't realize queeq was on Gom until we got there," her voice dropped to a whisper. "I sensed his presence, but hid it from Imorthorn."

Gundark rose from her seat and stood staring out the cockpit viewport. "To this day, queeq has never told me of his time spent there with Eli-Chi." She bit her lip. "Imorthorn and I were with the boy and his father, discussing the boy's training when the Sith came." She shuddered. "Then everything went wrong. Horribly wrong."

Ushgarak
'Why did Imorthorn never speak of this?' asked the confused Ushgarak.

Gundark
"The sith killed the boy's father in an instant," Gundark continued. "Imorthorn tried to protect the boy while I attempted to lure the sith away. The sith took advantage of Imorthorn splitting his strength and overpowered him, albeit momentarily, and cut the boy's heart right out of his chest." She covered her face with her hands. "Imorthorn was in shock. The sith and I battled until I managed to take off his saber arm. Then I slit him from groin to shoulder." Gundark turned to face Ushgarak, letting the darkness filter down through her, to her core, until the anger had settled. She clutched her robes about her, envisioning the carnage still all too clearly, in a place that Ushgarak could not see. "I was trying to comfort him, to assess what had to be done, dreading to confront the council...when queeq burst in. With all of the disturbance we had stirred up in the Force, I wasn't surprised to see him." She let her hands fall to her sides. "I tried to explain, but his heart was cold. His prescence was like a mountain of granite, unyielding in its hardness. He did not speak, gazed at us both, then turned away and never looked back." Gundark sat again, empty, emotionally spent. "Imorthorn never forgave himself. We do not speak of it."

finti
As their ship flew through hyper space Finti meditated and memories of the past came to him. He remembered his training under the guidance of Gonkhaba and Eli-Chi, the old Eli-Chi. Two fallen jedi masters trained Finti in the skills of the force both dark and light sides. Gonkhaba was the strong one, agressive one and mercyless one as Eli-Chi was the wise, calm and seductive one and very jealous one. Eli-Chi`s jealousy grew equally with Finti`s growth in the ways of the force and saber fighting and in the end it came to a showdown. Gonkhaba would not interfere with the battle since part of Eli-Chi`s jealousy was directed toward him as well. Even as cunning and experiensed Eli-Chi was he was no match for Fintis agressive and powrerful attacks. Finti had also devoted far more time than his masters practising the darkside. This gave him the upper hand in the battle and in a wild and ferousious attac he drowe Eli-Chi to his knees, and in this positon Finti`s blade parted Eli-Chi`s body from skull to the thigh.
Finti came out of his meditation and smiled by the thought of a new and uppencomming dark jedi had been given the name of Eli-Chi.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak was unsure what to say.... and Gundark was clearly distressed, so he let it lie.

A little while later, he spoke.

"We will be arriving in the system soon, Master. What do you think we should do when we arrive?"

phinney6
What was phinney6 douig well here it is: Phinney did not know what he had gotten into. He has snuck aboard Gundark and Ush's ship. They do not know yet

Ushgarak
I KNEW I should have checked that ship more carefully...

phinney6
Comes out of hiding. "ahhhh... Hi guys" Starts to run

Ushgarak
What the... Master, who the heck is THAT?

Gundark
"You there. Stop !" Gundark yelled, leaping to her feet. The fleeing figure, realizing he had no place to run to, stopped and turned to face the two Jedi. "Phinney! What in the world are you doing here ???" She turned to Ushgarak. "He's a friend of queeq's," she told him.

Ushgarak
'Oh dear...' said Ushgarak...

phinney6
I just wanted to see some action. Please take me with you.

Ushgarak
Because Ushgarak knows good form, he waits for the Master to speak...

queeq
queeq had sensed a tremor in the Force when Gundark and Ushgarak entered the atmosphere. "It is time...", he thought. He got up, left his hide out and took a stroll down the main street towards the administrative building where the Dark forces resided.
While slowly climbing the stairs he reached out with the Force. queeq cast off, piece by piece, the rags of his disguise, revealing the black outfit he always wore.
As he slowly ascended to the main gates of the building, the doors swung open and a squad of troopers ran out followed by Admiral Thrawn himself.
In an instant the front of the building is lit up by an intense light, blinding everyone. When the echoes of the explosion fade away into the backstreets of Gard, all that could be heard was a strange humming: the charging sound of a tommy blaster.

"Thrawn! You are under arrest in the name of the Republic!", queeq stated loudly, tommy blaster in one hand, an unignited sabre in the other. "I am a Jedi Knight by command of the Jedi Council on Coruscant. Do you prefer to do battle with me?"

Thrawn was barely regaining his vision as queeq approached him to place binders on his wrists. As several heavily armed squads ran into the square, queeq's fighter blasted in overhead, firing several bolts at the squad before lowering to hover above the steps in front of queeq and Thrawn.
"ALL ABOARD!!", yelled queeq's navigation droid AK. queeq quickly Force-jumped on board with Thrawn on his back. Several laser blasts shook queeq's ship causing it to tilt dangerously. "AK!!! GET US OUT OF HERE!!"

Immediately queeq's ship blasted away, away from the city.

Gundark
"Phinney, I do not think this is a good idea..." Gundark told him. "Its too dangerous."

phinney6
No it isn't I don't believe in danger!!

Ushgarak
Why do I sense that you've had trouble with this person before, Master?

phinney6
I was there Ush I was there. When Gungark battled the Sith, and the little boy died I was there. I saw it ALL! I was there to comfort queeq, and I was there in the co-pilot seat when he left. He never got over it.

Ushgarak
I see... you must have been young...

phinney6
I was. About 12, but he trusted me as his co-pilot. I was very gifted to be a pilot for him at 12 years. I remember him telling me what Gungark ment to him.

Gundark
Gundark crossed her arms and sighed deeply.

"Phinney has ended up in a few of queeq's....field missions, over the years. He's not fully trained, not nearly so," she explained to Ushgarak, turning to eye Phinney sternly. "Danger you should believe in, young one. A Jedi does not rush into a volatile situation such as the one we face without considering the possible obstacles."
She put up a hand to stop his further protests. "Why don't you stay behind to guard the ship. We can reach you on the comlink if we need you." Gundark directed her attention back to Ushgarak. "Tell the skynet operator we're carrying medical supplies and need a safe docking bay. That should be enough for them to leave us alone, at least for now."

Ushgarak
'Yes, Master,' said Ushgarak, trying not to laugh.

queeq
Gundark's communicator lights up, incoming message. She opens the channel and hears a familiar voice.

"Gundark, Ushgarak. Watch out for enemy fighters. The planet's guarded by Republic ships with no-Republic intentions. I have a passenger on board who has been supporting this hostile take over, Admiral Thrawn. I'm on my to Coruscant, he must stand trial for high treason. Want to rendez-vous?"

Ushgarak
'Master?' asked Ushgarak.

queeq
"Come in, Gundark...... please.", queeq's voice sounded squeaky through the comlink's small speaker.

phinney6
I'm sorry I just reconized you and wanted to know where you were going. Sits right in the back seat, Almoat laughing that he has to "GUARD" the ship. Queeq this is phinney I am with them, phinney says in the comlink

Gundark
Gundark touched the com controls. "I hear you queeq. Just who exactly is this Admiral Thrawn ? And how did you capture him ?"

phinney6
Admiral Thrawn is the head of the emporer's fleet!

queeq
Atmospheric static interferes with the transmission "....turing him was a quick hit and run. The aftermath may couse you guys a bit of a bumpy ride, so I sug........" queeq's transmission is jammed.

(Note phinney: Palpy isn't emperor yet)

Ushgarak
Ushgarak saw the blips approaching on the sensor screen.

"This could be trouble, Master..." he said.

Gundark
"Blast it," Gundark snapped. She turned to phinney. "Get to the turret gun and stay sharp." She slammed the com panel with a fist. "queeq, I'm reading 22 ships on our scope. You sure know how to throw a party," she told his sarcastically. Gundark looked at Ushgarak. "Looks like we're a little outnumbered."

Ushgarak
"This thing is fast," said Ushgarak, "but can't manoeuvre. Perhaps we could try to go straight through them? If we can punch through top the planet we can make it to the spaceport and recover our ships..."

ratcat
Jedi Knight RC, sits in the cockpit of his combat shuttle, the Jade Ruby. Sliding the hyperdrive initiator slowly back, Starlines shorten and define themselves as stars once more.

On his screen 22 red blips, representing 22 fighter class ships are converging on a single, slightly large blue blob, piloted by Ushgarak and Gundark.

"This is RC, to Ushgarak, come in. It looks like the council were right in there belief that you chaps might be in need if some assistance."

I have your wing. 22:1 may have been tough, but I think 11:1 odds are more in our favour, don't you?"

Ushgarak
Ushgarak laughs.

"Good to have you with us, RC!" he says.

"We're trying to punch a hole through to the planet. With any luck, we can turn things even more in our favour if we get there..."

phinney6
Phinney runs as fast as he can to the tarrot gun. Ready to blast anything that is evil.

Ushgarak
...except for Queeq.

Joke!

phinney6
Puts on Comlink so he can hear the ush, and gundy. Just then an evil fighter apperas, and phinney blasts it.

Ushgarak
Ushgarak puts the ship into a twisting corkscrew and puts the throttle to maximum.

Hope I don't put off Phinney's aim...

phinney6
"Ush this is phinney"
"nothing ahas gone wrong, and my aim is not off.......YET"

Ushgarak
'Master', says Ushgarak, 'the shields on this thing are almost non-existent. I'm not sure how long I can hold her...'

ratcat
"Keep it together guys, these guys ain't so tough"

Switching shields on 75% front, 25% aft. Nudging the stick to port, RC brings his ship into a wide arc, straightening his flightpath at just the right moment to drop his aiming reticle over the enhance image of one of the enemy fighters on his heads up display.

"1.... 2.... 3.... Tone!"

A volley of laser bolts errupt from the nose mounted cannons and streak through space towards the fighter. All 4 hit home and the small craft explodes in an incandecent ball of fire.

"That's one! How many more do we need to open up a hole for you guys?"

Ushgarak
Well, time to trust the Force, I think...

Ush puts the ship into a flat spin towards the planet. He is no longer sure exactly how the ship will manoeuvre, but then neither do his pursuers...

Gundark
"Stay with it, Ush," Gundark tells him as she crawls half under the instrument panel and begins switching wires, trying to bypass the short circuit. Sparks fly, followed by a smattering of swear words from under the panel. Finally she calls out to Ushgarak, "diverting all auxiliary power to guidance control."

Ushgarak
'I'm losijg the port-side stablisers!'yelled Ushgarak. 'We may lose gravity, whoch could be rough...'

phinney6
Hold on to it ush, there is like 5 ships heading right at us. Damn it Queeq where are you?

Ushgarak
'I CERTIANLY can't hit them' said Ush, 'so I'll be AMAZED if they can hit me...'

ratcat
RC barrells the Ruby over and dives for Ush's ship. His fingers fly over the panel, pushing as much power to the rear deflectors as he can.

"OK Ush, I've lost my lasers, I have aft shields but not much else. I have you tail, you got lead, where you wanna go now?"

Ushgarak
'Get us on a course to the spaceport at Marakith' said Ush, desperately. 'That's our only hope!'

phinney6
"Ush do you need my assitance else where or do you want me to stay at the tarrot gun?"

Ushgarak
'Damn it... Phinney, the guidance systems are shorting out... this craft wasn't rerally desinged to carry weapons...'

ratcat

Gundark
Gundark crawled out from under the instrument panel and thumbed the com. "Get back down here, phinney. No point in having you blown off the side of the ship." She flipped to RC's channel. "We're not planning on a fancy landing. Ush and I have two ships docked at the Marakith spaceport, so I'm not worried about using this baby again." Another blast rocked their ship and she grabbed Ushgarak's shoulder to steady herself. "See if you get us on the ground in one piece, though," she told him with a grim smile.

Ushgarak
'I'm going to have trouble making sure this thing doesn't break in two on rentry, folks..." said Ush.

Gundark
Gundark strapped herself back into the co-pilot seat and shouted back the passageway. "Hang tight Phinney." She turned back to the com. "queeq...you still with us ?"

Ushgarak
'I'm dumping the weapons power!' said Ushgarak. 'Everything is going to whatever shields we have...'

Gundark
The ship shuddered violently as it plunged through the atmosphere. "We're gonna get cooked going in at this angle", Gundark pointed out. She studied the scope in front of her. "Can you nose her over about .12 ? There's a large area of low scrub we may be able to land in." She looked at Ushgarak, feeling him use the Force to maintain control of the ship.

Ushgarak
'If I turn her' said Ushgarak 'she may break up a lot sooner...'

Gundark
The scope in front of Gundark went dark. "You better get us down, Ush. NOW."

Ushgarak
"Ok..." said Ush, "I'll try!"

Ushgarak closed his eyes, and reached out...

phinney6
*Phinney tries to get back to the front of it, as he walking he gets blasted my another ship right where he is. He crawls up to front coughing blood everywhere

Ushgarak
Phinney's pain stings Ushgarak's mind as he tries to focus on the ship...

phinney6
I can do it I can land it. It was part of my training (landing without a screen)

Gundark
Gundark clambered out of her seat and grabbed Phinney before he was thrown into a bulkhead. "Easy, Phinney. Ush is gonna get us down. You're injured..just sit tight," she told him, strapping him in the navigators seat as gently as she could. "Hang on, we're gonna make it," she said reassuringly, wiping the blood from his chin with her sleeve. She managed to get back to her seat as the ship dove from the cloud cover and Marakith appeared below them in the viewport. She closed her eyes briefly and reached out to Ushgarak through the Force, lending him her strength.....

Ushgarak
There was a violent twist...

The whole world seemed to have been turned upside down and sideways. The ship screamed with pain as it fused and warped in the violence of the re-entry. Something big fell away from it, and as it did the balance was lost, and the ship span badly.

Ush felt the strength of Gundark aiding him as he tried to keep the dead ship in one piece... and then just as the ground was about to hit, the soft ground of the scrub apeared in the front viewscreen...

ratcat
RC yanked his control stick hard to port, narrowly avoiding the remains of the wing from the downed fighter as if flew passed him.

In horror, he watches as the craft ploughs into the scrubland, flinging dirt and debris in all dirrections.

"Ush? Gundy? Phin...?"

-----STATIC-----

"Ush, Gundy, Phin. Respond."

Reaching out with the Force, RC senses life within the wreckage, but it's hard to tell who is alive down there.

Suddenly alarms start to whine. On the scope RC sees fighters are breaching the atmosphere, heading not for him, but for the downed craft.

RC Thumbs the comm one more time. "If you can here me, GET OUT OF THERE NOW!"

queeq
As three fighters head towards the crashed ship, suddenly the Cloakshaped Fighter drops his cloak, follows the craft and blasts the first one, causing it to spiral down to the planet's surface. The second fighter tries to outturn the hostile craft but only makes it half way before a torpedo penetrates the hull before it disappears in a ball of flames.
The third fighter completes his sharp turn the other way and makes his way up again, beyond the grasp of the atmosphere.

"That bought them some time", queeq mumbled to his navidroid. He reached out with the Force. "Gundark, wake up! Run! Run!"
Quickly he typed in a message for the Jedi Master and sent it to the comlink receiver, explaining her why he HAD to deliver Thrawn to Coruscant.

queeq turned his ship into attack course for the remaining fighter. When he entered space, he fired a curtain of torpedo's for any incoming craft and then immediately made the jump to lightspeed. "Take care of them, RC", queeq whispered softly.

ratcat
"May the Force be with you queeq."

RC Slowly circles the crash site, montoring for life signs both with the ship and the Force.

"I think queeq bought us some more time but not forever."

Trying the comm one more time. "Ush, come in! What's you situation?"

Still nothing. RC prepares to bring the Ruby down, near the two craft Gundy had indicated earlier.

Cycling the restros, the Ruby settles onto the soft each, landing treads sink about 3 inches before coming to a rest.

"Well, guess it's time to hitch up and let me feet do the work here." RC sighs.

Gundark
Gun slowly opened her eyes, squinting to focus. The entire viewport was gone. Two crashes on the same planet.....she thought. I'm beginning to really hate this place... Moving her arms to unstrap herself from the co-pilot seat stirred up pain from every point in her body. She looked at the blood on her sleeve, thinking it was from when she had wiped Phinney's chin, then realized something warm was running down the side of her temple. Gritting her teeth, she dragged herself from her seat, ribs she knew to be broken stinging her in the process. Amazingly, RC's voice could be heard through the com, which appeared to be the only functioning system left on the totaled ship. "Get out of there now," he was shouting. Gundark forced down her panic and looked to her companions, both of which appeared to be still alive. "Ush, can you hear me," she said urgently, gently taking hold of his shoulders and nudging his pain perception with the Force. Too much for her handle with her own injuries. His eyelids fluttered and she felt a small glimmer of hope. "Ush....we're got to get out of here...."

queeq
Thrawn fell hard to the cold floor of the Jedi Council conference room. A black boot painfully stepped on his neck. With his hands tied to his back, there was no way for him to move.

"Let go of him you must," Yoda said sharply, "No need for that there is." queeq didn't move an inch. "Do you realise who this is?"
"It's Admiral Thrawn, commander of the republic navy. Why have you brought him here? Like that?" Mace Windu looked in digust at Master queeq. "There's no need for your disapproval, Master Windu. I arrested him on the steps of the government building on Gard. He was supporting the dark take-over of "New" Gard."
"The take over was technically legal, Master queeq, you should not have interfered with..."
"Master Mundi", queeq boldly interrupted him, "The Republic Navy is not to support any individual planet revolution. Especially with the kind of military control of marshall law these navalist are operating on New Gard."
"Marshall law? Evidence you have, Master queeq?", Yoda wondered.
"The evidence is here on the floor. And also, try contacting Master Gundark and young Ushgarak. You will find all contact is broken since they have been shot down and crashed on the planet's surface. Courtesy of the republic navy."
All Jedi Council members were in shock upon hearing this report.
"What about Master RC?", Mace asked him sharply.
"He was still up and flying when I left, otherwise I wouldn't have set course for Coruscant. I will return immediately though."
"So certain are you?", Yoda wondered.
"IIIII.....must.....my Master". For the first time queeq showed an emotion the short Jedi Master had not seen, but decided not to ask any further. He realised his special bond with Master Gundark may still be very strong.
"Yet, Thrawn's case is a matter of the Chancellor. Not ours.", Mace stated firmly. "Take him to the Chancellor."

queeq looked sharply at Mace. He sensed not all was well with the Chancellor, he might be involved, yet.... queeq realised Mace was right, nevertheless.
"Take him to him them and give him this", queeq handed Mace a holodisc. "Evidence from my holorecorder and my full report on the Gard situation."

queeq turned around and walked off.
"One moment can I have, Master queeq?", Yoda called after him as he got off his seat.
queeq slowly turned and looked at the great Jedi Master and nodded. Together the left the Jedi Council conference room as two young Jedi dragged off the cuffed Thrawn under supervision of Ki-Adi mundi.
