Seriously though, there are no official images of PS3, anything he finds has been fabricated for the sole purpose of starting rumors.

PS3 is just an idea on a drawing board in some Tokyo skyscraper.

I'm sure they have a general idea of where they're heading, but surely nothing solid as of now. The only real piece of info is that it will have TiVo capabilities.

Actually there is a new chip that Sony will use called the Cell...but any images are going to be fake.

My friend was at the gamacone in newyork earlier in July and
sony released a 3 minute movie of the capabilities the PS3 will have at the july gamacone in newyork. In game informers mag they said that
Sony officials said they hope for an early 2006 release.

With the Cell chip, it will be 1000 times more powerful than PS2, so they say.

power is nothing in the video game world though.

If they can utlilize that power correctly and develop a new graphics card, hopefully 10 times better than anything out there right now, then the PS3 will rule all.

Im sure PS3 will keep the seat as grand champ regaurdless of its performance. This is just because of anticipation. If it does indeed suceed with greater graphics and new gameplay possiblities then it will stay in the throne as grand champ. There is still that possibility it will prove to be nothing more than a slight upgrade from PS2. This has been the trend of video game history. Lets see if sony breaks records.

It's come to a point in the console world where the graphics are on sucha high level for all that they won't decide who's the winner of the next console race. Marketing will.

i dont think marketing rules the video game world yet. It still comes down to the fans. Ifpeople arent playing the games then it doesnt matter how much marketing is shoved down our throats, the console of bad games will still fail.

Nonsense. Then why does a mediocre game like Enter the Matrix sell heaps and heaps of copies?

Marketing.

Its really up to the individual game developer to make good looking games. MP for example uses all of Gamecubes power and features, it looks absolutely beautiful! Then you have crap games like Matrix that look like they were made in a week.

Like Perfect Dark for N64, that game looked amazing! Because it totally pushed the N64 to its limits. So consoles are important, but game developers really need to utilize its power and features when developing games.

Enter the matrix sold heaps and heaps of games because of the overwhelming popularity of THE MATRIX. BAD games sell because alot of gammers like bad games. even though enter the matrix was garbage many people still love it. Marketing holds a grasp on the video game world, but it is still run by the FANS. If marketing was more important than the fans opinion then the SEGA dreamcast Wouldnt have went down in flames. The dreamcast was marketed up the ass. The same goes for just about every other console that came along but became a memory before its first year anniversary.

The only case i can say marketing ruled in the game world was the release of the first sonyplaystation. Sony had horrible games, and even worse showcase. However the people diddnt have much choice at that time so they went for what was advertised as the next step in the gamming future. Saturn had more capability than the PS1 but it still failed because of fans opinion. Xbox has far more power than the PS2 and was marketed as the next best thing, the xbox had some of the best marketing campaigns within its release, but fans choice and opinion keep the PS2 at the top of the ranks

So its a mixture of marketing & bad taste!

It seems like year 2005 is the estimated time the PS3 will be released in Japan. Sony and SCE will both satisfy their egos because the plans are to release two versions of the console. One is the fully featured system with all of the capabilities. The other version is going to be a stripped down machine that will basically act only as a console system. Think of the second version as PS3: Value, because that is the idea behind it, to satisfy the people who can't shell out over $400 for the system and a game.

The PS3 development team is reportedly looking forward to using a built in TV tuner of some sort to allow the future system to record TV shows on hard disk. Similar stand alone system are already out on the consumer market that do the same. Some of the products that I can think of from the top of my head are ReplayTV and TiVo. The brilliant engineering allows these machines to use the hard disk to save video image using MPEG encoding and allow the users to pause live TV, record shows for later viewing and a few other functionalities. So evidently, the idea of recording TV on a hard drive is not new.

Well, Kouichi Okao gave us some real good information on what to look for in the future. Sony is definitely taking large steps get into the consumer entertainment market and be everything to everyone. Will it work? We'll have to wait for a few years to see the impact that the PS2 and PS3 will make. For now, we can be assured that they won't be forgetting about what Playstation was originally all about; video gaming.

The PS3 will contain 5000GHZ of DDR SDRAM and will also take 5gb Disks. It will have a 500GB hard Drive braking console and PC standards being high quality and be way better than Xbox featuring Project Gotham Racing S (S standing for station) and Halo 3. I got this info after I work for Microsoft and loads of spies broke into Sony's head office. Microsoft are to give up running Xbox. There will be 10 controller ports.
