Ok, I was watching both yesterday when it struck me.

In the first movie, in the final scene when Neo jumps into agent Smith and destroys him....or not.

In the second movie in the high speed go fast fight scene between the two. He states, SMITH "I am not certain what has happened, something was copied or overwritten."

My question is, did Neo assume his powers as the One by assimilation of the smith prgram?
* Hence the reason he could feel that Smith was near him in the little get together at the beginning of part two.
* Hence the reason he can feel the machines in the second movie.
* Also the reason he can see in code
millions of reasons, millions of questions.

Also, now that Smith is fee is he still bound by the rules of the matrix. Like Morpheus, states in the the First movie, they will never be as strong or as fast as you can be?

we all know the agents cant kill neo because he is the One, it is their job to let him win, so did smith allow himself to be taken over or not?

dave123
when i say taken over, i mean jumped into

No, Neo did not get his abilities through jumping into Smith.

1) Neo displayed use of his abilities before he even died.

2) Neo saw everything in code when he stood back up after being killed by Smith.
3) Neo Stopped the bullets in the hallway before jumping into Smith.
4) Neo jumped into Smith! This is not something that just anyone would be able to do. Thus shooting down the theory that this is where he developed his abilities when he jumped into Smith if he needed those abilities to jump into Smith.

The connection is always there. Neo crashed the Smith program. Thus Smith was marked for deletion, but because of some code overwrite, he's become more like a virus - with the potential to be as powerful as Neo.

As usual 8 posts, including the realazation of the answer before I hit submit.. huh

if u look at Neo from the beginning of the first matrix movie, u should see that he has become more machine when it comes to emotion. Since he is originally human though, he has the imagination to do whatever the hell he wants. On the other hand, Smith is becoming more human and his imagination is being created. Thus Smith is beginning to do things he was never able to do.

I also think that whenever smith is in the process of taking over someone, he is aware of their thoughts. This may be why Smith knew where Neo was when he was in the hallway of backdoors. He also tried to take over Morpheus and then was aware of how important the Keymaker was, so they tried to kill him when he was in site.

The Unknown
Agent Smith didn't know when Neo was in the hallways. Remember in ETM, he came in, knowing someone was there and thinking it was Neo, but it was Niobe/Ghost.

AliasNeo15
ya, well he still tried to take over Neo before that though

guys haven't you seen the new clips of revolutions. there is one when neo goes to see the oracle. neo says "what is he" she replys "he is you, your oppsite, your negative. it is the system trying to balance out the equation." just wanted to throw in my 2 cents

JediHDM
yes we have, although im trying to figure out the pertinence of your statement...the Smith-virus was created by NEO, yes, it is true, however, the system used that act of Neo's to create the "cataclysmic system crash", effectively making the ONE good and bad for the humans...the system uses him to create a reason for him to reset the matrix...

Osiris
some part of neo's program is overwritten onto the smith's one
i think thats y neo felt something different in that little get together in the start of reloaded(did he felt some1else like him but not completely)
but he said to trinity "i dont know"

Ikobe
Okay, this is what me and the best friend worked out yesterday. It's probably wrong, but there you go. It was late and we were having a sugar crash, go figure wink Anyway.

In 'Kid's Story', Michael's old RSI in in the ground, a new one is created when he goes back in, we're assuming. So essentially there is at least one version of Michael in the Matrix at any given time.

Neo returns as the anomaly. His old RSI is discarded, but the now 'free' Smith uses his old RSI as a host (Agents need human RSIs to be a tangible, visible Agent) - this is why Smith can copy over the other Agent at the start of the Burly Brawl - essentially, the other Agent is 'human', or at least has a human host which he can latch onto. Smith can copy onto humans - it's like an Agent using a human host, only permanently.

If this makes any sense I'll give you an award. It's what I wrote last night.

AI.

i dont mean to be rude, but im not sure what your point is...

MC Mike
Hehe... me neither. Didn't want to be rude, so I didn't talk. Plus - I've done crazy stuff when I had an overdose of sugar... wacko
