alright, i had a debate in english class a few years ago about which is more preferred, cats or dogs? what do you think? i prefer cats of course!

I also prefer cats. I love dogs but cats are just so independent...loved them!

I voted dogs. A dog can be more of a friend than a cat. But i love cats also..it was a hard call. Felines are my favorite animals

dogs are usually more social than cats, but when you get a social cat there more friendly than any dog, cats are also cleaner and like kes said there more indepent so i choose cats

dogs are preffered in America. However I loooooove cats, but I like dogs to. Dogs are too high maintainance sometimes. Gotta love em, and pet em, and snuggle them, and play with them a lot. But cats are so sleek and subtle.

Man this is hard. Both animals have their own personalities. In an apartment a cat is better, but in a house a dog is better.

cats definately. dogs are fun but they are too needy. cats are perfect cause they are so independent. you can leave a cat alone in a house all day and not worry about it. they also don't take up the whole bed when you're trying to sleep!

My cat Peanut wags her tail whenever she gets excited (actually it's more of a really fast twitching). She also will play fetch, a game she usually initiates by bringing me a coiled up twist-tie (she likes to starighten them out). She also greets me by kneeding the carpet with her feet which is her way of saying she's glad I'm home. And she likes to play peek-a-boo around the shower curtain. Cats have a lot of personality, you just have pay attention to see it.

i hate cats. dogs will love you unconditionally. cats are too damn snooty.

I vote dogs cuz cats are too indipendant fo me, its like they dont need you. But my two favorite animals are tigers and lions. strange.

i think dogs are the best because they are very submissive and are friendly to loads of people and they can act as guild dogs or gaurd dogs but cats can be really mean and scratch your eyes out and they find it very hard to trust people

i love 'em both, but cats are my fave. i like beagles & labs as far as dogs go. cats - love 'em all, but especially siamese (and wild cats - tigers rule!!) btw, when i voted & the results came up, it was excatly 50/50!!

I voted dogs, i have a cat and he's pretty cool and chilled but i miss my dog who died a couple of years ago, he was much more fun than my cat, all cats do is eat and sleep - usually on the book im reading or my PS 2 controller!

Anyway dogs are fairly clean and can be as independant as cats. More importantly dogs tend to be more loyal where as a lot of cats will quite happily settle any where warm with food!

but ive never owned a cat. my family has aways had a dog... or dogs. and i know that for the rest of my life im going to have a dog, or dogs. i will probably have a cat or cats at some point. but i will ALWAYS have a dog/s.
therefore, dogs are better.

Cats are far more intelligent, can take care of themselves and u dont need to walk them so they dont crap on the floor. They've got sense to go crap on someone elses garden ^^!

Not true I dont need to walk my dog so he does not crap in the house cos I house trained him, I walk him because we both enjoy it and get exercise and stuff, and yes he'll quite happily crap in someone elses garden! besides which cats arn't always house trained and need stinky litter trays
If someone tried to break into your house what would scare them off your noisey barking dog that could get attention and probably bite them or your cat that will run away?
