I cannot believe that there isn't a thread about them in here. I think that they are one of the best bands out there right now. Especially with all of this punk crap taking over, there seems to be a deficiancy of good music right now. Their music totally rocks!

Im a pretty big fan of them also,Toxicity is an excellent album so different from any other rock album in there genre.

Toxicity is in my cd player more then any other album I own. It's the one cd I can listen to non-stop and never get tired of it.

To be honest i haven't listeinied to it for ages but i do listein to it on my MD at college.

STEAL THIS ALBUM!!!! Sooo cool....i love System...they are like Tool, i cant think of anything that is wrong with that band......Serj is the man!

SOAD is a good band, i'm not a huge fan though. Had toxicity in my discman for weeks but it eventually got old(everything does).
I don't listen to their music for their political beliefs though, and i'm not especially fond of the style of lyrics and the way they're put together. But the instrumental part of the band is just great.

i think the reason they stay so fresh and different is because they're not american. all the bands over here like to go with flow you know? most of em dont change, even the great ones like Linkin Park, i mean lets face it, they've found a winning formula and pretty much stuck to it. SOAD are almost as good as Static X. Almost.

seen them live in tampa last year , what a letdown , they had not form of interaction with the public , no form of comments beetween song ( which would be expected relating to politics and such from that type of band ) and most of the ticket where sitting tickets , tickets for the mosh pit where sold out ( going to a rock concert to be seated , that's pathetic and having different tickets for the moshipit was at the limit of a scam )
they sound good in studio nut they absolutely suck live
sad really but not different to so many bands playing , just doing the minimum to satisfy the hardcore fans who could forgive anything anyway and cash in the money

system of a down are from america at least i thought and wouldent that make them american if you are born here i meen armenian american at the least

i was always under the impression that they were born in Armenia and moved to America when they were little but I could be wrong.

there simply better then any of those nu metal acts out there i dont know if i could consider them "nu metal" but they sound nu-metalish to me but atleast there creative!

System ****ing rocks! I mentioned them in my fave bands list. They are great musicians. There is nothing else to be said about them.They just kick ass!

Thank you for making this thread. System of a Down is easily the best band ever next to the supreme Gods of rock The Beatles. The lyrics are som deep, they talk about Religion from different perspectives (Science is a genious song.) Plus Serj's voice is so uique and powerful. If anyone likes this band I strongly recommend Rage Against the Machine because their lead singer is almost as good as Serj.

i think toxicity is there best album. there are only 2 disappointing songs on it (Jet Pilot and Needles) but even those are worth listening to. most bands just make 2 or 3 good singles then fill the rest of the album with shit. examples - Puddle of Mudd, Offspring, A.

I think all of their albums are amazing...my fave has to be 'System of a down' i.e. the first one...but i am also really impressed with 'Steal this album' I think thats getting to be my favourite...listening to them right now

Their self-titled album was great, Toxicity was garbage, and Steal this Album was not bad.

Toxicity ain't garbage, it rocks...

Steal This Album was a travesty, its just the songs that they didnt feel fitted in with their other two albums.

S/t was excellent, a real breath of fresh air.

Toxicity was phenomenal. Not a single bad track, instantly catchy, nice and heavy in places, excellent vocals and lyrics, humorous parts...its one of the few albums I can listen to all the way through without skipping a single track.

The only song on Toxicity is Aerials. Sorry, but I.M.O. the album is no good. Maybe it is because of the local radio stations overplayed all of the singles, but I have listened to the CD and nothing to appealing.

Oh, wait... needles is okay too. But, it was garbage compared to the other albums.

i dont mean to be rude or anything, but i just can't figure out how you could possibly think that. I mean everyone likes Toxicity. Its like Master Of Puppets and Californication. Even my dad (an oldskool Led Zep/Sabbath/Motorhead purist) likes it.

I loved the first album, and the second was on my CD TO GET list. when it finally came out, I listened to it once with a buddy.

When it was over, we looked at eachother and wondered when the good part of the CD was supposed to kick in. I only liked a few tracks... and then the radio overplayed "Toxicity," so I got real sick of that song. Whenever Aerials came on the radio, I changed it so I did not become sick of that song.

Personal preference, I suppose.

I've heard everything on Toxicity a million times and I still love it... IMO one of the best albums in recent years. Like Deathblow said, there's not a truly "bad" song on it. There are a couple that aren't too great, but they're still good songs and worth listening to.

Sorry, just not my cup of tea.

I completely love SOAD. 2nd favorite band (behind Rob Zombie). I can't wait till their follow up to Toxicity in January.

SOAD is awesome. i have all their cds. my favorite song ever is Forest. i think their first cd was thier best though.

I like Chop Suey and Toxicity, just a couple of my favorite songs. Needles and the Prison song are alright too.

They are a very good band, but I refuse to call them a great band as Steal This Album was very poor. Only a couple of tracks worth listening to in fact. But s/t was excellent and Toxicity was pretty much flawless.

Also, they hold the title as best band I've seen live, ahead of Slayer, Glassjaw, Sepultura and Static X.

Chop Suey and Disorder are crazy. I like the lead singers voice and the band is pretty funky.

Aerials is my favorite. I also really like "Shame" which is the collab they did with Wu Tang.

soad kicks ass dude sugar is their ultimate song. i have all their cd's and almost got to see them live. toxicity isnt much but forest and X are probably the best songs on the cd. im not really a fan of steal this album but most of the songs are good.

I promoted SOAD when they first broke way back when and thought it was some of the absolute oddest metal I had ever heard. Glad to see they are still goin' strong, too.

For those who think "Sugar" is the best they can do, what about "DDevil"? "Deer Dance"? "Soil"???

Mesmerized got pushed back to May 17 now. I can't believe it. It happens all the time with movies and video games (especially video games), but CDs are rarely pushed back over 6 months.

I love SOAD, they're my favourite band bar none, I'm going to see them twice, at Brixton Academy and MEN Arena.

Favourite songs: Mr Jack and Ego Brain, although I've never heard a bad SOAD song, all their songs are awesome.



Only Daron was born in America, in Hollywood to be precise. Shavo was born in Armenia, his family moved to the US when he was little. John and Serj were born in Lebannon and brought to the US when they were little.

Does anybody know where I can listen to B.Y.O.B.? I don't listen to the radio enough to catch it and I have searched all over the net. MTV.com apparently has it but my player won't work and even when I download theirs it still won't work.

i love SOD they are definatly one of my favorte bands. i love their album Toxicity, all of the songs on it are good. i hope they just keep making more.

I heard B.Y.O.B., it's awesome. Can't wait for Mezmerize.

i too am a great fan of system. i adore them and treat them like gods due to them rocking so much god damn ass!!! They are palying this years Download Festival at Donnington Park!! shame i cant go but i should be seeing them in london for a much Cheaper price annyway They should be praised and bowed down to for their allmighty wickedness!

I don't think the general public will like it as much but I love it nearly as much. Chop Suey is one of their few songs that aren't so random that the public likes it.

Nothing SOAD have done is 'random'. They can be a little weird at times, but still in a very accessible way.

By random, I mean how they randomly break into heavy riffs without worning unlike Chop Suey which flows together more like all the other bands you hear on the radio.

Ok, I'm not positive this is a SOAD song, but I have a song called, "Kill Me Now." I downloaded it about 2 weeks ago and did not believe it was SOAD, but it said that it was off their new album. Serj was quoted that one of the other guys (Shavo?) will take the lead for a song or a couple songs. The music and the singing resembles nothing of SOAD and I would have actually believed it was Fred Durst more than SOAD if told this. If it is SOAD, I'm a little disappointed. Its not a bad song, but I have a hard time linking the song in my head to the SOAD that I love. Hell, I might as well listen to The Network rather than Green Day, because that is how different this song sounds. I even looked on the net using the lyrics and it brings up SOAD as well.

I love the new CD. It is great and I haven't even heard the whole thing through yet. I'm at Violent Pornography right now and it is..... I don't know, I'm speechless, this album is so awesome.

I liked "Chop Suey!".

The only problem with the album is it's very short, only about 35 minutes total. But it's acceptable, quality over quantity.
