I find it hard to earn my life. I work for Bell Canada and they have rules for the rules, ect... If you want to sharpen your pencil a boss will check and you'll call the union, ect...
I know I have to work but I wish I could do it from home.

I think that working is hard, school/life etc is just sometimes a bummer, I also find it hard to earn money and pay all this crap to the government at the same time...

Complicated
Using the Force is really, really, really hard. No matter how hard I try... sad

Actually, I'd say that the hardest thing is just getting up in the morning. School is bothersome and tedious, and work, when I had it, was even worse. Generally, though, after I get myself to start out with these horrid things, they prove to be not that bad - really, just not pleasant.

the hardest thang in life is ta start ova afta u've bad some pretty bad mistakes

getting to the top of the ladder of whatever career u want to get into.and this applies to all the freakin careers out there.damn.(dun mind me...i hv just spent the last week researching the career of acting wich ive always wanted to get into boy its hard but i sooo love doin it...same with my drums..but its sooo hard its so discouraging now i'm torn btn a risky career doin the things im passionate abt and a secure career, the traditional kind..help!!!!http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/band.gif (will that famous drummer ever be me???)http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/sadangel.gif

given a choice, wld u go for passion or secure money?

Skywa|ker
It's too hard to make enough to be able to retire at an age where you can still get the most out of life. We spend the best years of our lives slaving to keep our heads above water, financially speaking, and by the time we can afford to retire (HA!), we're most often past those good years. Ideally, we should all be able to retire by the time we hit 45. If you want to keep on working after that, fine! But for me, I'd rather be at home, enjoying my family. My boys are growing up WAY too fast for my liking, and I'm missing it.

getting Amy Belucci to go out with me. damn hard.

Skywa|ker
Well, I gave up the dream, in a way, to do a job I don't really love so that I could make my family financially secure. That being said, I kept my passion... and now I can afford to indulge it a little more! I too am a drummer, and although I'm not the best drummer out there, (having to give up the time I would have used to learn to be a really great drummer) I do well enough that I'm now playing regularly in a band, and it's great! We do weekend gigs, some Friday nights, and we're starting to make some money now. And who knows, maybe someday it'll be steady enough that I can give up my day job. Until then, I still get to pursue my dream, just in a more limited way.

So, don't give up the dream. But don't be irresponsible, either. If you're going to support a wife and family, they come first. If you're single you have a lot more options open to you, as to where you're going to direct your life. Just one more word of advice; whichever way you go, make sure you have enough of a job to take care of your current financial responsibilities... don't let anyone 'carry' you... it's not easy, but you'll be a man. (Or woman, as the case may be... stick out tongue )

SCHOOL SUCCKKKSSS!!!!!!!!

thorncrawler
hey be grateful that you dont work in one

Skywa|ker
cool You know, I used to think that, when I was still in school. I know you probably don't believe me, but once you get out, you'll wish you were still in. Believe it or not, you'll probably never have more freedom than you do right now. (Especially if you're a senior in high school...) So, as much as it sounds stupid to say it, enjoy school while you can! Once you're out, your whole life changes, and it can be a nasty shock.

(Skywa|ker steps down off his soap box... stick out tongue )

thorncrawler
it doesn't change if you work in a college

One word: Algebra. It makes me break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it! http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/pokey.gif

Skywa|ker
On the up side, once you're done with it, you'll likely never have to use it again! laughing

(At least, I never have... mind you, I'm not a rocket scientist either...)

cool

Corran
But Algebra is about problem solving using logic, without that you would not be able to do your job, I think Logical thinking is a must for you is it not?

hey algebra is actually v easy compared to sum of the stuff we do here in s'pore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!honestly,u want a tough sch life, look here - we guys dun even HAVE lives outside sch!!! a regular day for us goes like this - wake up at 6 or 5 30am(depends where u live) reach sch b4 7,morning assembly, sch starts at 7 45am goes on til 3pm then extra curricular activities (and whoo boy some of them take up a WHOLE lot of time - like me for example i'm in the sch band, percussionist,so we hv practices 3 times a week - i pity my sch's national cadet corps tho at least WE band members are not in the hot sun - btw,i'm in a girls' sch n my sch's cadet cops is the best in 'spore cool huh!!who said girls cant be tough man!!!big grin) and we finish at lik 6 30 pm then its stright home to slog thru that HUGE pile of hmwk due tmr and sleep at like 11pm and the next day its the same thing all over again.
the weekends are no different either.in fact,we hv extra lessons n band prac on sat and enrichment classes on sunday so we cant even sleep in.
and i've seen other countries' schwk compared to us u guys are soooo lucky i dun care i'm gonna migrate one day UGH i HATE it here!!!!!!!!!!!!

ha.what's UR average sch week like?

Shoukan
Life in general is hard...

Skywa|ker
Well, I've been out of school for a few years now ( laughing ), but my time in school was nowhere NEAR as busy as yours. My weekends were my own, and I wasn't in band, so I only had to worry about homework. I did have a fair bit of homework, but usually no more than an hour or two a night.

It's great that you've been drumming since you were 7! That would make you a much better drummer than I am already... (I only really got to start drumming when I was about 29... I'm 37 now, so I'm still pretty much a beginner. And being a family man, I can't practice nearly as much as I should...) It sounds like you have a great start in drumming, so I wouldn't worry too much about losing your dream!

bLooMiLiCioUs
ha me gd?nah...did u know i actually got turned away by a teacher when i went to him to ask if i cld get drumming lessons when i was 8?and do u know why? cuz i was a GIRL!!!!!http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/furious.gif &^*& amp;%^@!(@#%^$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so ive been learning it myself all my life - thank GOD i'm in my sch band....at least ive got SUMTH - but since it's a symphonic band, not much to be done there too - but DAMN the guys are soo good i'm lucky now i'm in a girls' sch the ONLY drummer there - but this is my last yr next yr i'll be in college there'll be guys n that's it - gdbye drums.http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/sadangel.gif

Skywa|ker
That isn't right. http://www.killermovies.com/forums/images/moresmilies/furious.gif I think it's incredibly cool to see a female drummer... very few I've met over the years, but those I have known have been some of my favorite girls. Hey, did you know that Jennifer Elfman (Dharma, on 'Dharma and Greg') is a drummer? Very cool! (And I think she is SO cute!)

Another celebrity drummer I really like is Dana Carvey. He is an excellent drummer! cool

Me, I'm good at keeping a solid, steady beat, and I sing at the same time (Phil Collins is my hero!), so I guess I add value to the group. My rolls are okay, and I can do short fills, but I can't solo very well at all yet. (Still working on that... and still working on my rudiments...) wink

bLooMiLiCioUs
aaahhh rudiments....can't stand them,cn't live w/o them...my roll's on its way tho - it SHLD be ive been at it for a yr now!!! i'm kinda fine with fill ins but i really need to listen to the song many many times to get a feel of it b4 responding with a fil...can't do freestyle fills, the kind with come in at the end of songs.nah-uh.
oh my gdness jennifer elfman?coolbig grin ha yeah she IS cutewinkha i cant sing for NUTS if i tried the glass ard me wld shatterwink

haha i think we're like turnin this thread into a drums thingwink

bLooMiLiCioUs
laughing hahahahaha yeahwink tell me abt ur kids!!!i love children - soooo adorable n charming!!!!love

Skywa|ker
Well, Connor is 8 now, and in grade 3, while Ethan is 3, just about to turn 4, and is in Junior Kindergarten. Both boys are pretty sharp, both started walking early, got out of diapers early, etc., and are (of course) great kids. (Hmmm.... methinks I may be a little biased, no? laughing )

Here's an older picture, from when Ethan was just a few weeks old. (He's a tank now! Not fat, just big for his age and strong... he'll be a big boy when he grows up! Most people think he's 5 years old...)

bLooMiLiCioUs
THEY.ARE. ADOOOORAAABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bLooMiLiCioUs
AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!oooo caaareful now i'm gonna go n KIDNAP ur kids!!!!!!(haha yeah i'll do that - frm like the other side of the globewink)

Friend44
thumb up Don't be too depressed about the part where you have to listen to your parents. Eventually, the old pharts will listen to you. Otherwise, you can cut their food intake, threaten them. You'll also get the power to place them at the old coot farm. I think I would have made a great fhuerer.

bLooMiLiCioUs
hahahahaha - aw com'on hv a heart - they DO want what's best for u...(omg m i starting to sound like my mum???!!! blink )

Skywa|ker
Heh heh heh. stick out tongue

If it ever did happen, though, that anyone touched my kids, I'd hunt them down and kill them. (Seriously, though... if anyone ever did anything to my kids, their lives would be forfeit... they'd die a horrible, slow death.) Funny, I wasn't nearly as sensitive to children's feelings until I had one of my own. Now, I have trouble watching any movie or TV show in which a child is hurt/killed, or even in danger. (e.g. I turned off the movie 'Mimic' when the two boys were killed... just too disturbing to me... and I had a very hard time watching 'Ransom'.)

I know you were only joking though... no offence! cool

bLooMiLiCioUs
hahaha hey i know i might be just a measley 16 but i'd kill any1 who'd hurt a child - i know how it is - maybe not to the huge extent a father or mother wld but enuf (for nowwink)

bLooMiLiCioUs
ooo they're sooo cute!!!i can't stop lookin at ur elder son!!!ive always wanted to be a paediatrcian u know - but i realised i dun reaaaly hv a strong stomach embarrasment i shall be a voluntary foster mother when i grow up insteadwink

Skywa|ker
And they're really well behaved boys, too. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that both my wife and I are really consistent with the boundaries we set, and the punishment that comes if those boundaries are crossed. Consistency is the key. (That, and lots and lots of love!) I give the boys a lot of my time, and so does my wife... they'll never complain that we weren't "there for them", if you know what I mean. (I rarely work late, and play with the boys a lot...) It probably helps that my wife and I are also very calm people... we never yell/scream/fight, etc. The only time I raise my voice is if the boys need correction. That way, when I do have to raise my voice, they listen right away. Ah, I'm talking too long here... better get back to work! wink

bLooMiLiCioUs
hahaha hey i ain't complaining i love hearin these kinda storiesbig grin tell me abt u know, lil quirks n all that they hv - kids always hv 'em,makes each individual child so endearing too!!!!!PM me if the rest of the ppl here start complaining - cuz it IS off -topicwink

I find losing someone really close to you to hard to cope with. Even worse, if someone really close to you is upset and there is NOTHING you can do to help them. It KILLS me!
