November 19, 2003 - The Matrix Revolutions is coming home, a little faster than many people might have thought. The final chapter in the trilogy by the Wachowskis will be hitting stores on January 6th, 2004, according to a notification that was sent out to certain retailers earlier today.


IGN FilmForce reported last week that meetings had taken place at Warners regarding an early release of the film to DVD as a response to the film's weak domestic box office and distribution over the Internet. No word on what special features will be included on the disc.

Well that is awesome that it is going to come out so much earlier, but disappointing in the sense that it did so horrible at the box office.

big deal, it didnt do that bad in the boxx office. Even thoug finding nemo is kicking its ass in Norway. over 110 488 saw Nemo the first weekend, that is amazing numbers for such a small country as Norway comparison is that under 30 000 saw Revolution its first weekend

I can't wait til then...is it released on the same day around the world like Matrix Reloaded Dvd On Oct 14.

hmm...cool...I just hope it's substantial and packed with stuff, like reloaded.

there is going to be atleast two special editions of revolutions, then there will be a special box set trilogy, there will be three different versions, one will be the collectors edition, then two others will have different packaging. Then about two years after the box set, there will be another special edition collectors box set released. There going to do everything possible to make up for the failure it pulled at the box office. Imagin if it did as well as reloaded, you have atleast 5 special editions of each movie. I gaurentee you. there will be some shit like this to come

they must need more money quickly.

even though i love the matrix movies, im glad revolutions diddnt do as well as expected, thats just so they dont make another sequal

i hope they give us loads of extra stuff and tons of hidden stuff - i was dissapointed there wasnt anything hidden on reloaded dvd (that i know about at least)

I was very disappointed with the special features on Reloaded. The making of... was crap! I already knew half the stuff, and then about the freeway well some of that I didn't, but other than that! I mean no commentary! I would love to have had one with the w. bros., keanu, and hugo! That would've been awesome!! I would've liked to have seen more on the choreagraphy of the fights, in the M1, and in reloaded. I will get a box set of the matrix, revisited, reloaded, animatrix, and revolutions! That would be freakin' awesome!!

Well, well...gee I could'nt see that one coming. Yeah backfire is right I guess they did'nt make the money they wanted to on this last installment so they wanna squeeze ppl for everything. It would be a good idea to release it before christmas so that when even that marketing scheme does'nt work some of you will have to realize that in comparison to other films revolutions was a box office disaster.

Well... I guess I can kiss my grades good bye for second semester too. Cuz now I'm gonna be watching Revolutions all the times :-p

Jan 6th seems too much of a rush, so Christmas woulod be way too fast. Now, I do want to see Revolutions on DVD, just not so soon.

i know what theyre gonna end up doing, since they want more money theyre gonna pull another Revisited---> Revolutions followed by Revisited 2.0 or something....they wont pack tons of extra features into the Rev dvd, theyll wait a month then release Revisited 2.0 or something like that im sure...

I wish they would come out with the Return of the King dvd two months after it came out. Lord of the Rings, Now that is a real trilogy. It is a classic. So much for all the people here that said the Matrix would be a classic trilogy. The only movie that will be remembered is the first one. Nobody cares about the sequels.

My new year resolution is to get Matrix Revolutions.

They did the same with the LOTR movies, not the releasing them quite so soon, but they put out one copy, with pretty good extras, then U have to turn right around a couple of months later and get the revisited copy, with extra scenes, etc..and it cost even more.

So, it will be hard, but I think I will wait for the second copy to come out, instead of buying it twice No. no, I'll buy it the 1st time, and then wait an see if the revisited copy has any good extras and then decide if I want it.
No no no, buy it once, or wait till the box set come out, and then ......Oh I don't know.....so little time

Revolutions was a disaster at the box office? That's weird, it set the record for the first five days! It must have MAJORLY tanked after that.

Sorry but TTT has made over 800 million worldwide. Revolutions has made only 300 million and is fading fast. Revolutions will be lucky to finish with the same total as the original matrix

Well, now that you guys keep mentioning that they might make a better edition later I think I'll Just buy Revolutions (not the box set) and then wait for the final edition to come out. Then I'll buy the set

I read today that Warner Bros. denies that the dvd will be coming out on the 6th. They said the would anounce the release date in January though.

TTT is The Two Towers. 300 million is terrible when they were expecting it to gross somewhere around reloaded's 760 million. Reloaded was a disappointment itself. it was expected to gross more than a billion dollars

Sifer yeah on it's opening weekend it set a record beaucse everyone wanted to see how it ended...to date is has suffered a 60% drop from it's frist week. Even die hard fans are not going to see this movie twice and the proof is in the sales.

Im not the one labeling it a box office disaster, EVERYONE is. Even warner brothers has stated that the box office take is well below what they projected. It might have set a record in it's frist week but the following weeks have been disappointing and that is FACT. In it's run revolutions will be seen a failure becuase it did not live up to expectations. Go look at teh numbers seifer look for instance that elf has taken the number one spot and the releases comi9ng out this week will drop it down it number 5 if it manages to pull that spot off. Realize that in the cmoing weeks it will only get worse and the movie is yet to be a month old. You think im talking non-sense well see when it's all said and done.

Omega a movie is not just based on box office sales but, we are talking about a franchise not just a regular movie and it seems that most of the fans "get it" but are not willing to dish it out for another showing at the movies. I saw reloaded countless times at the movie theatre and it was still bringing in money from all the die hard fans MONTHS after it's release. This is not the case with revolutions so all im saying is remember the comment in the beginning you said for me not to speak for everyone else.....well they have spoken and I was'nt tha far off.

The only reason revolutions broke the record is because it opened in 119 different markets. Reloaded only opened in about 30 or so. If reloaded had the zero-hour thing it would have made nearly twice what revolutions made.

Which would be a lot.

I guess......I've been seeing polls tho that say Revo will kick ROTK's ass this year! Regardless of what is being said! I like both movies, but I don't want Revo to lag behind!

as far as dvd sells I think the LOTR movies will do far better than the Matrix, if U look at it, there is a bigger fan base for the LOTR, sorry to say. Even though I like them both.

well, considering LotR has been out much, MUCH longer than Matrix has, of course it is going to have a bigger fan base. PLUS, the ending of Revolutions was unexpected, and most people don't like it when their comfort zone is broken into...

We can thank all the non-Matrix fans who downloaded it instead of watching it in the theaters. I'm taking a guess, but I think people are waiting until Revolution to come out on DVD to see it, so we might se a large sale of the DVD. Just a guess. What else can explain the poor turn-out?

Omega, What are you talking about when you say the ROTK is starting to shake. The chris lee scenes are not even a big deal. this movie will easily be the top movie of this year.

Omega the least you can do is admit that this is not what anyone expected (that is until you actually see the film for what it's worth) and it is rather disappointing. I am still a fan of the matirx movies but this last installment was a big disapointment it just did not hit me as hard as the others at first and it did not linger for as long. Im sorry to be the one to break the news to you but this is fact now and not just me stating that the movie is not up to par.

Jedi: Have you gone mad?. The lotr movies not the books have been around for three years now. The movies have done well because the fans have accepted them and they are cinematic history in the making. Do you honestly think the fans would have liked the movie if it did not meet their high expectations. The movies themselves have been around for less time than the matrix movies and WILL go down as the best cinematic trilogy of our time both box office and fan approved.

The movies and the books are on two diffrent scales. Many ppl are quoted as always saying "the book was better" not with the lotr trilogy. Jackson took some chances with includng things that were not int he book and taking somethings out and even making everything in his own vision which alot of hardcore fans might have not liked but it was accepted.

I know how old the books are and I know it had a huge fan base before the movies were released but, there is always a chance that ppl will not "take" to the new adaptation.

My name alone should let you know that im not into happy endings..that is not the problem I had with revolutions (im sure the majority did not have that problem as well..it was no secret the third movie was about death)...I stated what i thought the flaws were but im sure you just skimmed right over my post.

My mind has been freed for a long time and you seem to be the one close minded because you cant seem to take the fact that I simply did not like this film along with millions of other fans. I can acept the fact you liked it..I mean i never once said "man a person must be real dumb to swallow this watered down, rushed matrix movie" now did I but, you on the other hand feel it's your right to not let me have my opinion and then say things like "free your mind" or "you dont get it".

Not once have you simply said "ok DV so you did'nt like it, big deal" NOT ONCE. Everything seems to be revolved around the same statement...as close as you get to saying it you always squeeze "you dont get it" in there somewhere..hehehe.

Nah I dont have any solid proof and I will be the first to say it. I will also be the first to say I am wrong if it does'nt come out so soon. If it does however.....

Well, since it's been established it's NOT the day after all (much to my chagrin), but probably not until APRIL...
