Edward Gorey (1925-2000) was an author and illustrator of many unique books that often have the appearance of children's stories, but are usually much more ominous, even sinister, and yet oddly humorous. He is probably best known for his drawings used for the animated opening to the public television show "Mystery!". He has also done illustrations for hundreds of books by other authors.

I love Edward Gorey has anyone else seen his work?..maybe you can answer me a question..the cleverly-fashioned characters in a The Nightmare Before Christmas look just like his illustrations are they based off his work?

I been admiring some of his artwork in the Art forum. Mr. Gorey has a very unique style of art. I wish to know more about his writtings. You mention he wrote children books? Is his style of writting similar to Dr. Seuss? Please some more info. smile
