Who is Your Favorite Character from a book you have Read?

Being a person who is lost without a good book to read, certain characters just seem to stay with me even years after discovering and getting to know them from a book that I have read.
My favorite character is the vampire lestat .The evolution of his character from start to finish was amazing, I loved his book the most giving insight into his back ground and bewilderment of becoming a vampire and how strong he became afterward.
Who is your favorite?

Predator 89
Even though the Da vinci code was a complete waste of my time Robert Langdon was atleast a amusing character non the less.

Mr Zero
I admit i was deeply cynical about this thread when I saw the title: I expected (and lets face it more-or-less got) lots of "OH! if Pirates of the Caribbean was a book then Jack Sparrow would be my favorite La La La!"

In fact the only post to give me pause in a 5 page sea of predictable poop was your choice of Jordan Baker. Jay is an obvious choice (obvious in the sense of being the most fascinating character in (possibly) the best written book in the English language.) but why do you choose Jordan as a second choice from TGG rather than, say, Nick Carraway or Daisy?

Arachnoidfreak
Dracula, from...Dracula lol. Dr. Helsing is a close second, and Mina Harker is up there too. Oh oh! and Lucy, after she was transformed by Dracula, into the Bertha Lady(err, i think that's what the children called her, I have to read it again)

I have a lot of favourite characters, too many to name. But my favourites are those I can relate to, people that have problems like me or similiar personalitys, characters that I feel for and know just what there going through. Loyal, friendly, and nice characters too.

Rad_1
Harry Potter!

Mariusderomanus
My favorite character of the vampire chronicles is Marius. He's just full of beauty, knowledge, wisdom and kindness. He feed only upon the evil doer and he's a good vampire. The only thing I don't like is...in the book he look like 40 years old and in the movie he look like 20-25 years old. I like him younger. Plus, in the book he has long ash blond hairs and I prefer him with black short hairs just like in the movie. Now, whenever I read a novel with Marius in it I picture Vincent Perez and his gentle voice.

theReject
Charlie Gordon. He's so sweet. He's a mentally disabled, middle-aged man who undergoes surgery to gain a high IQ.

Laskharis
Rincewind and the Bursar from the Discworld series, Doul and the Weaver from Mieville's books, and Cthulhu, the surprisingly cute squid-god who transcends all human understanding.

Dreampanther
Are you MAD asking me this question? Don't you realise that I have work to do? Do you have any idea how long this is going to take me? Aaaaargh!

Okay, here goes, in no particular order:

* Rincewind from Discworld. Death is cool too.
* Richard from Sword of Truth, but let me emphasise this, ONLY the first three books. The rest of the series SUCK! Although the sixth one is almost bearable, but way too predictable and boring.
* Thomas Covenant, White Gold Wielder and Unbeliever. This is one of the strongest characters I have ever had the privilege to meet. He suffers from leprosy, which means he has to constantly watch himself, since any wound he gets can become infected, as he doesn't feel it when he gets hurt. This requires iron discipline and constant vigilance.
Then one day he gets transported to a different world, where suddenly all feeling is restored to him. Believing himself to be dreaming, and drunk on the rush of feeling, he rapes a young girl. Time flows differently in this world, so the next time he gets transported there, he has to deal with her father, who believes Covenant is the only one with the power to save their world, since he is the White Gold Wielder, which gives him incredible power. The girl has gone insane, meanwhile.
The books are incredible. Once you've read them, you will finally realise that while Tolkien was good, he had some serious competition from great authors whose worlds are just as big, if not bigger.. The movies gave him a lot of publicity. Personally, I preferred Stephen Donaldson's Covenant stories to Tolkien's LOTR, but obviously it is just a personal preference. But I haven't even told you about the other characters in the Unbeliever books, once I get started I won't be able to stop: The Bloodguard, supreme unarmed combatants, loyal to the death and even willing to fight off death to honour a vow, The Giants, who defeat evil with a song in their hearts and a laugh on their lips....
* Druss and Waylander from Gemmell. Both these guys kick ass. If I could have anybody on my side in a fight, I pick these two: Bring on your army!
* Killkenny and the Sacketts by Louis L'Amour
* Captain Wolf Larson from Jack London's Sea Wolf. Possibly the best demonstration of Nietczhe's arguments I have read.
* Merle, Lord of Chaos, and his dad, Corwin, Prince of Amber, by Roger Zelazny. What, you haven't read it yet? What's wrong with you!? Go and get it now! Now, you fool, don't sit there and read the rest of this message, go get these books!
* Tarzan. Need I say more?
* Can't remember their names now, for some reason, but the lord and in the second book, his son, from Georgette Heyer's "These old shades" and "The devil's cub." Wickedly funny books, both these characters are supremely arrogant, supercilious, snobbish and overbearing, yet hilarious as hell, and they have hidden soft sides. Very well hidden!
* Creasy, by A.J. Quinnell. This guy is actually scary, he is so lethal. Note, the character from the books, NOT the movie. Man on fire the movie SUCKED!
* Sparhawk from David Eddings. Nobody messes with his princess!
* Monte Walsh by Jack Schaeffer. Probably the best cowboy stories ever written, funny and very moving.
* Jock of the Bushveld, by sir Percy Fitzpatrick. I cried my heart out at the end.
* The Spenser stories, by Robert B. Parker. These books come with a warning, though: They are impossible to put down and they are highly addictive!

I am going to stop here for now, because I actually have a lot of work to do. You will probably note most of my characters are tough and funny guys. That's because I believe this world needs more honest, tough guys, who stand up for what they believe in and will fight for what is right, instead of walking by and pretending they see nothing. And i also believe more people need a sense of humour.
