Evil Dead
I figured "hey, a lot of people seem to really love these movies.....I didn't see anything special when I watched Fellowship, I'll go ahead and watch both movies tonight....maybe I just missed the magic the first time"
So I popped in Fellowship of the Ring.....with plans on watching my two towers dvd directly afterward. This story just can not interest me. I watched....and watched....not caring about anybody....and watched.....taking notes of the story so I could recall the past events when I watched Two Towers........then, I'll be damned if I didn't fall asleep when the fellowship enters the cave. I never even made it past the first movie.
That's it, I'm done with it. It takes a certain type of person to watch these films. You have to be really into the whole wizard/elf/goblin mystic/fantasy genre to get into these movies. I've tried twice and I just can't get interested in them.
I own Fellowship of the Ring dvd........and it can't even keep my interest enough to keep me awake. I own the Two Towers dvd and have still never watched it. I can't get past the first one. My wife (who bought the dvds) tells me the second one is better and has more action.....but I'll be damned if I'll ever see it because I can't make it through the first one.
Lord Soth
It just doesn't make sense......
cgtuna21
It does make sense. Read the books carefully and watch the movie closely.
beaujay1
i think i should give it a try too, i only saw the 1st one once and it was like a yr. ago, it was cool but too long for me. well, ill try to see it again and maybe keep up w/ all the stuff on it
Puppet Of Doom
Drink coffee!!
It's a pity you didn't make it to the Two Towers, becaseu it's alot better than the first, I say. By then you know the characters, the setting, the basic storyline etc.
Can't wait for number 3!!! The whole country's already mad about it. As the news man said yesterday, "We've gone Lord of the Rings barmy".
Lord Soth
Haha, maybe I should have specified. I meant to say that it doesn't make sense that there's actually someone who doesn't like Lord of the Rings. Of course, my brother doesn't like it either. But he's dead now......

BackFire
No, I can see why he wouldn't like them, they are very long and often slow, they definately aren't for everyone.
Tired Hiker
Evil Dead, just forget about what you know and give Two Towers a shot. A bunch of my friends hate the first one and love the second one. Me, I love them both. But, I think you should give it a shot.
Evil Dead
Okay......update..........
I MADE IT!
My wife made me give it another try. I popped in Fellowship and picked up from where I fell asleep at yesterday.......it got a bit interesting not long after I had fallen asleep. As soon as I popped the dvd in, they were running from the big fire demon guy and Gandolf had died...well, you all know.
I watched The Two Towers. Good movie.......kept my interest. 100 times better than the first. It moved faster.....and had much more story to it as the Fellowship broke up into three groups and they had to keep up with all three. I'm actually looking forward to the next one. I still say the first movie should have been about 1 1/2 hrs long........moved too slow.....bad way to introduce a series.
Okay.......I see the second movie is good.......still don't see what the big deal is. It's a good movie.......there are alot of good movies. I don't think it's anything spectacular......but is a good watch none the less.
Mighty predictable also.........nothing surprised me at all. I'm going to go out on a limb and say nothing in RoTK will surprise me either.
Tired Hiker
Dude, you are classic.

I'm glad you liked it.
bLooMiLiCioUs

well atleast you made thru it

Lord Soth
And at least you acknowlegde they're good
Lord Soth
Well, you said Two Towers was good, anyway
alic88
am i the only 1 who thinks that part 1 was good but part 2 was 2 boring

Moving to LOTR forum
moving--moved
Exa
Nice you finally watched them

aniron
your problem is that you think to much about it, you should just sit back and enjoy the film
sauron
evil dead, you will be suprised in rotk, trust me, the ending of the ring is quite unexpected,
nazgulinthedark

i actually found the fellowship more interesting, more nazgul parts, and less frodo and sam parts
sauron
i know, i like fotr the best, i like the sort of feeling, i know that doesnt maske sence but someone out there must know what i mean,
nazgulinthedark

the only parts in TT are the battle scences, expecially helm's deep, it also disapouinted me with the arwen scenes, they wern't in the book
MISSY_EC
Well. Different people, different taste.
Well as for me, I'm a nerd. A LOTR Nerd. I think I've watched the Fellowship of the ring 20-25 times. Maybe more. I know who the paintes are, I know how they made, well, a lot of it. I know much.
I'm going to the premiere in Berlin next week I think. Then I'm going to meet the Cast. Well, not the Crew, well yes Peter Jackson, but only the Cast. I'm so excited about John-Rhys Davies! I hope he'll be there! And Christopher Lee!! He is the best!
Well, then of course Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin and Viggo Mortensen, (who's actually half DANISH! YES!!) will come.
BIG NIGHTY!

If you read the books it would make a whole hell of alot more sense but not everyone is gonna like the same things.
bLooMiLiCioUs
I AM SOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TrixStar
Read. The. Books. Then you'll be dissapointed with the movies

Lord Soth
I have a hard time reading the books, they're too slow
sauron
christopher lee is not going to be at the premiere, hes boycotting it in protest cos they cut his scenes
shaber
I liked Frodo and Sam's story best, it is so grim and torpid.
Lord Soth
I can't wait for the Eowyn/Witch King fight
Sifer
He isn't boycotting it at all. He even said it himself: He rarely goes to watch other people's movies, never mind his own. So with him cut from it, there is no need for him to go see it. It's just like Mr.Depp - he has seen VERY few of the movies he has starred in.
And I have read the books, many years before the film was even concieved and I absolutely love them. They are simply amazing and the scale on which they have been created and delivered is unrivaled. Brilliant.
Camellia
Oh well, I suppose we can't expect everybody to love the films!
But try the books - you won't be disappointed, honest!
spikeslover88
I think that its good that you watched them again! I think you will be surprised at The Return of the King! If you liked the action in the 2nd movie you'll definetly like the action in The Return of the King!
