I am part Irish, part English, part French, part Ojibwe indian, part Swedish, and part Welsh. I honestly would love to tell you my entire family history, but for obvious reasons that would be impossible. Here are some interesting facts about my family:
One of my distant ancestors, John Dixon, came here during the Revolution to fight on the British side. After the war was over, he decided he liked the place and stayed.
Another of my ancestors, also named John Dixon, founded the town of Dixon, Illinois. He ran a ferry across the Mississippi river (I think it was the Mississippi), as well as a small shop. He once sold a pair of pants to Abraham Lincoln (long before he became president) who said that he would come by another time and pay him, since he didn't have any money with him. Lincoln never came back.
On my dad's side, there was a fellow who was living in the Confederacy when the Civil war broke out. Even though he was a "yank" (he originally moved to the South to work as a gunsmith, since it payed well) he was drafted to fight for the CSA. He deserted and joined the Union army.
The part of me that is Ojibwe comes from an Ojibwe cheif named Bugonagashig, meaning "hole in the day," or more accurately "hole in the sky" (he was named after his father who was born on the day of a solar eclipse)

Not only that, but you are lucky to be able to trace your history. Some people don't even think about doing that. All I know is that I am Irish/Russian/4th Generation Californian. My Great Grandpa used to swim across rivers and run through nature to spread the word to small Irish communities. He basically helped start the IRA. When the English came, his village paid for his boat ride to America, otherwise he would have been hung.

Mom's side - Like...basically all French

Dad's side - Mostly French and Italian with some Dutch, German, and Native American mixed in
