In the next few days I will be implementing a signature limit. This is basically down to some people abusing the unrestricted signatures that we currently have.

The restrictions will include:

* Size of signatures will be limited to 10 lines.
* Images can only be used if uploaded on these servers.
* Spamming in signatures no longer allowed (partially implemented)

Any suggestions/comments welcome.

Yup.

I don't really see the point of having long sigs, apart from making everyone scroll that bit more.

It's not in place yet. But it should give you an error message saying that you sig is too long and it won't save it.

Just want to reassure everyone that this will NOT affect you, unless you decide to change something in your signature.

For sig images, if you used the sig upload in your profile, then you are unaffected.

is it just ten lines of writing for the sig, or is it like presing enter 10 times is how big the costum made sigs can be, are the ones you uplaod still 30k, or howevermuch it was?

Personally, as long as they're not insanely long, I think it's OK. Like Dave123's... his is pretty long but it's a wicked small font!

yeah, daves in small font is actually smaller than some others that have 10 in big, or less with gaps

The only bad thing about that is now people can't use their hosted sigs which can be more then 30 kb. I've never had a problem making mine under 30 but I know a lot of other people do.

WOO. sig limit! No more smart ass n00bies havin sigs that span over a mile long. Dont know if anybody remembers that n00b in the matrix forum wit "thisisnotreal" cut and pasted in his sig like a 1000 times.

Some sigs are way.way to long

Will there be a limit in the size (in Kb) of the pics ? Because I had some serious slowdowns when scrolling in pages including 700 kb+ sigs ...

The sigs limits are only 30 kb dude.

This will not affect you unless you decide to change your signature. Only THEN will the new limits apply to you.

That is not stored on our servers. That is the reason I am going to restrict images to the KMC servers only.

Signature limit is now in affect.

It will only affect you when you try to change your current signature.

Yes, as long as they are under 500x200 and less than 30k in size.

So you're saying we can't even link to our sigs if we host it ourselves?

Yes. If it is remote hosted then we can't check to make sure it conforms to the sig limits we have.

For example, your current signature would not be allowed as it 96k and we only allow a maximum of 30k. To be honest if you had used JPEG instead of GIF you would have it under the limit.

I've attached your sig saved as a JPEG which is compliant to the new limits.
