UnknownBountyHunter
Recently, since the excitement on select pics, instead of a new topic popping up when a new pic is up, all you guys need to do is make your discussions here. Meanwhile, it will not clutter the board and it will be more organized. So post all your opinions/likes/dislikes on the select pics here and now.

Regards,

UBH

Darth Daft

UnknownBountyHunter
You have way to much time on your hands!

Darth Daft
Actually I'd already written that in a word document and just pasted it onto here. Took less than 3 minutes.

theEviljedi
UBH,I couldn't agree with you more. That's why I suggested a forum on select pics only.It may sound dull but I could make it VERY interesting.

Ratcat
DD, I thought I'd seen that post before. smile

EJ, I agree, I did the same on my little forum and even with it's small readership I have many select specific posts.

Of course, if we had a select forum here then that would be even better.

Just my $0.02

Darth Daft
Ratcat, sorry I don't post on your site anymore. It's just that I saw this forum and got so addicted that I decided to stick with this. I don't really like using 2 forums at a time coz you never remember what you've already mentioned and you have to keep saying the same things for each forum. Too confusing for me. You do forgive me, right?

Dim
I really don't think we need a whole new forum for Select Pics..we're not that big of a board and the select pics are EP 2 material..

I think it's so funny how people look at these pics...I alway look at them artistically first...the "boring" ones are my favorite smile

Darth Daft
So you actually liked the one with George Lucas leaning over the railing?

King Jedi
I didn't. The best one is still Padme sitting with cuts on her back.

Darth Daft

UnknownBountyHunter
I agree with Dim. Sorry RC and EJ, but that just complicates things over such a discrete horizon, that it just as well be covered in Ep. II discussion. Sorry, but that's my $2.21

Darth Daft
Hmmmm, this is a rather odd one. It looks like a boy looking up in some rain. Perhaps it is Daniel Logan, who is rumoured to play Boba Fett and he is watching his father Jango fight Obi-Wan during the possible rain fight.

UnknownBountyHunter
I don't WANT to think that, but it is probable. My best guess at that would be a kid just looking out of the restaurant with the Corvette in it! smile

Ratcat
DD, like I have said many times before, this is the forum to be in. Mine is just for fun, what we have here is a seriously great bunch of people discussing Star Wars so don't feel bad. Thing is, I never post in my forum either laughing out loud

UBH, on reflection I can see you're right I guess, and why are your thoughts so much more expensive than mine? smile

As for the picture. Here's mu interpretation.

Boba Fett, played by Daniel Logan, sit's at the controls of his fathers ship, Slave 1 or a ship on the same line as Slave 1, as his father, Jango Fett, hunts for Obi Wan Kenobi in the rain.

From the look on the childs face I would suggest that he is not watching them fight as he looks to mouch like he's just staring into space.

King Jedi
Is it just me or does anyone else just see a kid in the shower?

Seriously I think it is Boba Fett but the actor looks like he has put on weight for the part.

theEviljedi
I've heard that the picture is of young Boba Fett{Daniel Logan} looking out of Slave I's @#%$pit.Now that it is semi-official I would like to ask you this. Are you happy with the "look" of the young Boba Fett?

Ratcat
He's just a kid, similar questions were asked regarding the look of Jake Lloydd for Anakin.

Besides you can generally judge a kid of that age (12-15 I'm guessing) on what they will grow up to be.

Trust me, my child hood pics would never have laid any clues to how I grew up, what I do and have done in the past and how I look.

I would use the same principle here, we just have the luxury of already knowing how he will turn out, we just don't know why.

theEviljedi
He does have a similar look to Morrison too.

Ratcat
That's funny that you say that you know becasue I was lookig at the pictures of him from his new TV Movie, Ihaka and he looks quite different from the pict at SW.Com, just my opinion of course.

theEviljedi
I've noticed that aswell.Could this be another?

Darth Daft
Hate to disagree, EJ, but personally I don't think they look alike. Morrison looks darker-skinned, part Arabian maybe. Or just very tanned. But Logan's skin is much lighter and his hair lighter. I still think the pic has some sort of a connection with the rain battle between Jango and Obi-Wan.

theEviljedi
I am refering to the boy in the selct pic Daft.Don't you think they look alike?

Darth Daft
Well I sort of meant him too, as he thought he was Logan. I'll have to go back to the official site and have a better look at it.

Ratcat
EJ, I was refering earlier to Morrison. While I can see that it is the same person, he just seems slimmer and more defined in recent pictures sompared to some older ones.

King Jedi
Having Boba Fett as a kid is a good idea because it means that none of the mystery will be taken away from him.

Ratcat
<aybe, but I think we may well learn a lot about his origins and why he becomes the man he does.

theEviljedi
And that's why Lucas made him the way he is.

Darth Daft
I don't think that just because he is a kid it won't take away the mystery about him. He was mysterious because he seemed very roguish, like someone who has no friends and goes through life how they choose. He seems like someone who lives alone, making a living out of Bounty Hunting and has no family and no counter-operatives or friends.
But according to theForce.net Temuera Morrison has confirmed his part as the father of Boba Fett and there also rumours about his mother being involved and a clone captain related to him. With his family involved I think it removes his rogue appearence and darkness.

Gundark
I bet Fett was singing "Singin' in the Rain" for the crew in pic 10.

Ratcat
OK, it's 1:28 in the moring UK times and I'm still ,waiting for the new Select Pic. I AM NOT HAPPY. Why did I get it into my head that I would wait up tonight. sad

Jedimaster3838
What is that thing? Is it the hands of Sith Witch? Those markings looked kinda familiar....

Darth Daft
Hmmmm, doesn't seem like much to me. Certainly an alien of some sort, maybe a Neimoidian or something.

Ratcat
Nah, Neimoidians have big chunky fingers. The costume is rather ornate for a background character.

Dim
Huh?...the background figures seem to get almost as much attention to makeupwise as the main characters...It's probably either Jamillia or a Senator...that's my opinion..

Ratcat
Yeah, I figured Jamilla 2, but why would her skin be green? Seems a little odd, but then again I suppose why not. This is a different planet after all.

Just me letting my earthly values get in the way of clear thinking.

Darth Daft
I bet its just some extra again. I don't think the select pics will start having main characters in them (apart from MAIN main such as Anakin, Padme, Obi-wan, etc) until quite some time.

Ratcat
I tend to disagree, purely because that costume seems very detailed for a back ground character. I can see where you are coming from though and would have agreed if it wasn't for the details in the pic.

Darth Daft
Yes the costume is indeed very detailed, but like Dim mentioned, the extras get much work put into them as well as the main ones. Or it could just be Lucasfilm's way to trick us again and make us think its someone important by giving them nice clothes.

theEviljedi
It could be green skin paint. After all,Amidala had white makeup.Go to aldera.net.They have an interesting article.

King Jedi
Alderanet are saying that the pattern on the costume is the Sith Tattoo.

Ratcat
Yesterday they said it was a stylalsied symbol of the Naboo people or something...

theEviljedi
That's what I heard too RC.

Ratcat
And I'd love to know where his oplot outline came from. Another site, new on the field (prequelspoilers.com or something) also had an almost identical plot scope.

If it's real then how did they get it and why hasn't LFL leapt on them with a cease and desist. If they have the real deal info then thats copyright breach.

Dim
I don't know...I've wondered about their spy network... it all seems weird to me...Does anyone else think this?

Ratcat
The latest is he's removed the plot summary and said he lost a friend in Australia over it. I do wonder, like you Dim, how real it is.

To that end I have started an electronic scrap book of all these plots so when the film is released I can go back and see how much, if any is correct. Thinks like the Jango/Obi Wan fight have to be discounted as it is 90% proven that they DID come out of LFL. (I kept a copy of thoser too.smile )

BThere's also a new site, prequelspoilers.com that also posted the exact same thing almost, just before Aldera.Net. How does a site which is 4 weeks old get that stuff. Guess I just don't have the right connections. sad

King Jedi
Ratcat you could just make it up like they do. Although I'm glad you don't. Look how many people Supershadow fooled with the whole Darth Rage thing. There were some people on here who beleived that.

Ratcat
Thankfully I'm not that good and writing fiction.smile

Darth Daft
I always wondered where that Darth Rage rumour went...

Anyway, is it possible that the person in the select pic is a Gungan? Or are the fingers not right? Its just that the material the clothing is made out of looks rather organic and natural like Gungan clothing.

Dim
Yeah the fingers aren't Gungun..

You know it could just be a humanoid who uses body makeup...kind of like the Twe'liks.. That's why I think it's Jamillia.

Darth Daft
Yeah I guess so. But if it is a female Gungan then wouldn't it be so annoying if it was Jar Jar's love interest? I'd hate that so much. The scary thing is, thats actually possible. Lucas might make Jar Jar fall in love. (gulp)

Gundark
Holy cow, the hands aren't THAT big, gang. My first impression was that the person was standing perhaps behind a chair with their hands in from of it, maybe speaking before they pull the chair out and sit down. Or rather, maybe a throne. OR MAYBE A CRADLE.

Dim
hmmmmmmm...Gungun Looooooooooooooooove big grin

Nah...I agree with Gun...the hand definately aren't THAT big.

Darth Daft
Yeah I know, but still it brought up a rather interesting, yet scary thought about Gungan love.

Ratcat
Hay Gundark,

I hope you're not thinking that the cradle may contain Luke and Leia. I bet you are, go on admit it.

But seriously, it would be a bit early for that I think.

Darth Daft
Jar Jar's kids then. (gulp). God how annoying would they be? Imagine if Gungans had multiple children and there were 20 little Jar Jar's running about.
Sorry, I'm getting a little carried away with this Jar Jar kids thing...

Ratcat
Nah they'd be in a bowl like tadpoles...

Darth Daft
Good point. Gungans are amphibious so their children must be born and brought up within water. They probably have tanks within Otoh Gunga where kids grow up.

Ratcat
Or they just shove em ouside and tell not to swim off...

Darth Daft
Yeah but then they might be attacked by water predators.

Ratcat
Tell em to swim away from anythings thats big and has teeth. There ya go, easy....

Darth Daft
Yeah I'm sure they can use their huge ears to swim along at lightspeed. That brings up a thought. What would happen if something moved at lightspeed through water? Would it make some wierd water boom happen under water? Or would the water split apart and make some long wormhole from the track of the thing that was moving at lightspeed? I dunno. I'm no good with physics and all that kind of thing.

Dim
Hmmm..that's a really good question...And it would probably be really visually cool to see to..Anyone here know anything about areo and hydrodynamics?

Ratcat
I would imagine you would generate a wave front quite a few hundred
or even thousand miles high.

As light speed is 299,792Km
a second in a vacuum and the refractive index (basically the
drag) of water is 1.33333333.

Therefore light travels
through water at about 224844Km per second, so just where are
you going to find a body of water big enough?

Darth Daft
I dunno. Mon Calamari?

Well even if there is no ocean
large enough on Earth, I wonder if there's some other way they
could run an experiment to see what would happen. I've seen footage
of an airplane flying past faster than the speed of sound and
it looked really cool.

Ratcat
At those speeds you could circle the surface of Jupiters clouds
once a second.

Darth Daft
Why thanx, Ratcat. I shall have to tell that to all my friends.

Jedi Mercenary
Lightspeed is a crazy, crazy way of getting arond, the generators
take advantage of the fabric between planets.

Jedimaster3838
It appears to be Tatooine and one of the things looks like a
Jawa, is the other Anakin?

Darth Daft
Possibly, and I must say this is actually an excellent pic. It'
s been a long time since we've seen any really cool select pics
like this one. It's certainly a jawa and like you say, the man
is probably Anakin. And what's that on the left side of the pic?
Anakin's transport he uses while on Tatooine? A landspeeder maybe.
..

Ratcat
This is definately another one that would make a great wallpaper for you PC/Mac.

BTW, that's a Swoop at the side. If you look close you can see the supports that will be removed in post-production so it looks like it's floating.

Darth Daft
Really? That's cool. But are you absolutely sure about that? It might be the Jawa's cart full of junk.

King Jedi
So Anakin is going to be flying around Tattoine on a motorbike. He's getting badder all the time. It'll be a tattoo and a nose ring next. Just wait and see.

Ratcat
DD, pretty sure yes.

Check out this comparision:

www.episode-2.co.uk/news/...lect19.htm

KJ, well he's a brash 19 year old, what do you expect.

Jedi Mercenary
Awesome, Swoops in Ep2

theEviljedi
Anakin is looking for his lost mother and asks a Jawa for directions? Go figure.

Ratcat
In the EU doesn't Aurra Sing ride a cusytomized Swoop. Maybe she steals in from Anakin....

Dim
Hmmm, I had started a pic with Anakin and Padme righting a bike or swoop a while back...too bad I hit that glitch.

Darth Daft
Thanx for the comparison Ratcat, I see what you mean now. It'll be great to see Anakin ride that thing.

Xantos Clone
yea! cool...I bet anakin was thinking "wohh...I gatta get one of those !!!" when Darth maul almost ran him down with his sith lord speeder bike thing..

Dim
Yeah..it's very Rebel Without A Cause..stick out tongue

Ratcat
Nah, the rebellion doesn't start in Episode-II!!! laughing out loud

theEviljedi
I hope your being sarcastic RC.roll eyes (sarcastic)

*Opps,I didn't see the laughing icon*

Ratcat
No, I dealy serious..... NOT!!! laughing out loud

Darth Daft
The official site has posted a slightly earlier pic this week, one of a triple-engined ship going through Hyperspace. Pretty cool, although I can't work out what the square is there for.

theEviljedi
I guess they posted it earlier because it's a holiday.

Darth Daft
Who's ship do you think it belongs to? It looks like a Republic ship, similar to the Cruiser from TPM.

Ratcat
This select is quite clever as it uses it's own image to hide the important details.

If you look at the central rectangle you will see it is actually a smaller version of the main picture. It has been reduced and strategically placed to cover the bigger image of the ship in order to hide details of the vessel.

My initial thoughts were that this was the Nubian from Episode-I but then I realised that it had one engine too many, the Nubian had two wing mounted sublight engines whilst this has a third central engine.

Maybe it iis an enhanced version of the Nubian, maybe the next itineration of the Nubian design???

I think the cloud like areas are supposed to reprtesent Hyperspace, that's where you can see that central image is a smaller version of the main one.

Not much enhancement can be done, which is a major shame. Oh well, nice picture, good tea. Come back next week.....

Darth Daft
Well spotted RC.
Shame there's not really much to discuss about the pic apart from who the ship might belong to.

Ratcat
Yeah, TFN have got it into their heads that it's a Sith ship because it's engine coroan is green just like Mauls was????

I thought the corona was actually blue, looking at it again I think it's just a Old Republic cruiser as seen at the beginning of Episode-I.

Darth Daft
However, it is a little hard to tell how big it is. If you imagine its the size of a fighter then it would seem a more elegant stealthy ship. It doesn't look particularly evil so I wouldn't say it is a Sith ship.

TFN also said how it looks strange having the large spine thing at the bottom as it would not be able to land, so when you turn the pic upside down it makes more sense. I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet.

Gundark
I would like to point out on the previous pic...while the shorter figure appears to be a jawa and the taller figure appears to be anakin...there's only one sun in the sky that I can see. Ahem. smokin'

Darth Daft
They'll obviously put the second one in during post production. Besides, perhaps the 2 suns don't always have to be side by side. Maybe they sometimes come far apart and one may be in view of the camera while the other isn't.

Gundark
And here with tonight's weather....outer rim meteorologist DD !! Okay, maybe digitally added later..stick out tongue , but wouldn't the suns have to be the same distance from each other all the time (like cause of gravity between the suns). rolling on floor laughing

Darth Daft
Hmmm good point. Plus, I can't figure out how Tatooine would orbit both of them if they keep changing positions. Lets just stick with the post-production excuse then.

Gundark
Okay, I'll compromise with you on this one. Post production insertion. PPI for short. Kind of sounds like a surgical term. Ouch. sick

Ratcat
I was just gonna say that I can't remember a shot of on Tatooine where both suns weren't right next to each other.

Back to my big book of the universe (AKA The New Atlas of the Universe by Patrick Moore), they call that a Binary Star System. Both stars revolve around themselves witha common center of gravity and any planets/saterlites rotate around the pair.

Just thought I'd mention it. cool

Gundark
I bow once again to your superior intellect, RC. smile

Hey, UBH, looks like you're gonna have to start "Son of Select Pics".

Darth Daft
Hmmm, the newest pic is pretty dull. Reminds me of Select No. 3, just a senate official from TPM sitting in a possible interior of Coruscant.

Ratcat
But at least this one appears to be fully made up and everything. The previous one was only half in costume.

Dim
Well, closing topic...Goodbye Toonbuck, can't say we'll miss ya..
