The relationship of Neo and Smith really took a 180 degree turn.... in the beginning of M1, they wanted Neo to be their source of information and were going to help him out... but at the end of M3, Neo and Smith were fighting for the future of the human and machine races... it's amusing in a way if you think about it. stick out tongue

Ahnold
Good observation, koz-man. A lot of things come full circle in M3...

The One Himself
Another interesting situation: In the first movie Neo was meant to destroy the Matrix and Smith to protect it. In RVL they changed places... big grin

MC Mike
yes

In M1, Smith was an Agent designed to protect the Matrix. After he got free, he could do whatever the hell he wanted, including destroying Neo.

Um. At the begining of M1 Neo has no record. No one knew of his illegal actions except for those who bought and dealt with him. The Agent's wern't helping him. They were blackmailing them.

"You've broken just about every law we have governing... etc."

I'm sorry but local law enforcment (or the FBI/CIA/MIB stick out tongue) agency around would want him in cuffs if they knew about what he does online.

The agents only knew because they're plugged into the system that everyone lives in. They know all. As morpheous said. They hold every key.

JKozzy
Exactly, so it was "Quid pro quo", they exchange stuff for each other's benefit, so I'd call that helping each other out.

The Omega
Jkozzy> Exactly.
If Neo and the anomaly really did become ONE, at the end of Revolutions, Neo might indeed become the protector of the program.

Agreed.

Morpheus:Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.
