I seen this asked somewhere before and thought Id ask our kmc readers.

I think that a nice bookmark adds to the pleasure of reading. I have a real cute puppy and on the string is a hanging bone.

I was wondering what everybody else use as a bookmark? Do some of you simply fold the corner of the page ?

i have to agree with you Paola it is a sin! I loaned a hard back copy of vampire lestat to my sister and she did that...I was so steamed!

i use a real bookmark with chinese writings on it.

I use anything within my reach, be it sheet of paper, a movie case, or even another book. anything goes. lol

oh yeah, i also usually just fold the book on the page i have, face down, screwing up my book, but saving me the time of reaching for a bookmark.

I have found my self without my favorite bookmark and will use like a scrap of paper...I used a leaf once.

Oh i use them all the time..

I have lots of different ones I got them from people who bought me books... most of them have cool sayings on them..i love that!!

i don't like to bend the pages. most of the time i use a receipt or a scrap of paper or a pocket calendar. i don't own any fancy bookmarks.

I use those annoying adds that fall out of new magazines

i usually use a pic i draw or a leaflet that i get in the street i'm not attached to bookmarks BUT FOLDING THE PAGES????? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! my friend once folded pages in my BEAUTIFUL, OLD COPY OF 'MASTER AND MARGARET' WITH A RIBBON BOOKMARK INCLUDED THAT IDIOT and when i saw it i tore apart his silmarillion

michail bulhakow - he's a great russian writer it's my favorite book in poland you HAVE TO read that when you're a junior in high school
it has many plots mainly it's about the davil, who's making his annual fiest in moscow and he need a chic for the ball so he chooses one margaret, it's the history of margaret and 'master's' (he's a writer) love and satans almighty crew containing: behemot- a talking cat, warionucha - a vampire, azazello - a demon an one more who's a demon too but i can't remember his name
there's an important sub plot about uhm... the guy that decided that jesus must be uhm... corssed (not sure how to call him in english but in polish we call him poncjus pilat) and how buhlakow thinks the bible history really went
it's a really good story sometimes halarious, sometimes sad you should check if you don't have it in your library

since i hardly read ever, i just have a piece of yellow card it has an arrow on each side, so i turn it over to remind myself which page im on next time

I don't use proper book marks, but I do have two special little keep-sakes that I use. I've usually got two books on the go, one's usually a study book and the other for pleasure....

1. The first is half of the aeroplane boarding pass (that they give you when you embark) from my honeymoon flight to the Maldives with Mrs.MM.

2. The second is an envelope that once contained an invitation to a close friends wedding. I kept it cus it makes me laugh, he posted it with my nickname written on it. It say, "To Cat & Emma".

I used to work in my local library at weekends and in one of the returned books someone had left a slice of bacon that they'd been using as a bookmark.

i always use business cards from my favorite places b/c the are flatter than some decorative bookmarks. they won't dent or run the pages.

I'm really bad - I fold over the pages!

It's funny, b/c I buy nice bookmarks, but I usually end up using receipts or any other kind of paper that happens to be nearby.

I use one of my dirty socks. The smells so bad and stong that it keeps the book from closing so i know what page i'm on!!

I USE MY LEGOLAS AND GIMLI BOOKMARK(VERY PRETTY). LEGOLAS IS IN THE BACK, GIMLI IN FRONT OF HIM WITH HIS AX. ON A BROWN BACKGROUND. THERE IS STRING AT THE TOP AND AT THE END OF THE STRING THERE IS A LEAF BROACH LIKE IN THE MOVIE

i would never use a paper clip and fold pages, don't want to damage the books i like best!

When I can find it, I have this cool magnetic bookmark thingy.

Right now I cannot, so I am using a small credit card booklet...

I used to have a really nice bookmark it had some saint on it ...then i lost it...now i use those demo credit cards that capitol one or those credit card companies send

I just tear up a piece of paper from something useless and use it as the bookmark. After I finish the book, i throw it away. Haha

Yeah, me too! I've been known to use bills too. Not that I throw those away, though.

I Use My "Maury" Ticket I got From the show.... as an audiance. I scaned it... which is stupid... now I lost my place in "Order OF The Pheonix"... which I am re-re-rereading.

(Only HP Book I have so....But I already read all the other ones)

I use this really nice red leather bookmark i got at the start of the year 2000 from my school. Ever since i got it i've used it its my favourite i wont use any other.

I use this thingy my parents got me for Christmas one year it says my name and what it means. Or if I am reading more than one book I also use my LOTR one it says on it One ring to rule them all...........ect you know it im sure.

I've been wanting The Hobbit for quite awhile and my husband bought me this really nice hard back version with a case and he also bought me a LOTR bookmark. It's a Rohan one and it's pretty nice too!

5 months ago I let my cousin borrow an easy reader, he never gave it back to me!!!!

Things I Use~
1 flip the book over
2 free book mark from the library
3 whatever the heck i pick up
And folding the pages is like a huge no-no!

I often flip the book over. I also use receipts from the library if I have one around.

i'm reading a really battered version of the stand at the moment and pages are continually falling out so i just use those.

I used to have a couple of hundred leather bookmarks from places i'd been, but when my wife left, she took them with her... so now i use a bit of junk mail in my bathroom book (currently The Amber Spyglass) an old receipt in my lorry book (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy) and a picture of my son in my bedroom book (Mountaineering and leadership...)

I use movie ticket stubs, post-it notes, the inside part of the slip cover thingy on hard backs, basically whatever's lying around... Or nothing at all.

Anything handy at the time. I DO NOT fold page corners over (That just makes me soooo mad!) At the moment I've got supermarket receipts stuck in the 3 or so books I'm reading.

I'll either just flip the book so it's open and facedown, but I'll usually use something like a pen or marker and hope that it doesn't roll out.

I just bought a new bookmark to replace that one. It's metal and the to is shaped like a western revolver (I thought it fitting to use with my Dark Tower books)

I always like to use something complete...as in I can never use a torn bit of paper or something that doesn't have straight edges if it's meant to.. I suppose that's the OCD in me.

My friend told me bookmarks are for wimps..coz he just remembers the page number..

I use anything that's within reach almost. Scraps of paper, evenvelopes, other books, notebooks....the list goes on. Though sometimes I do use a real bookmark...And I will NEVER fold the corner, that's terrible!!

I have a book marks in all different books that I leave in a book when I am done then pull out and put in the new book I am reading. I have a few of them because I read so much.
