All hell has broken lose here in Minnesota! We got 12 inches of snow today, and more is coming tomorrow!

There is no such thing as snow in these parts.

I love winter. The only thing that sucks is I have to wake up 20 minutes earlier to scrape ice and snow off my car!

Yeah, I saw that on the news. They are predicting we might have one of those hard winters down south. They tend to happen about once every 10 years.

The last time we had 12 foot snow drifts and it snowed for like 3 weeks solid. Had great fun racing our cars through the snowed up country lanes.

No whilst 3 weeks and 12 foot drifts may not sound like a lot, in the south of England it is a hell of a lot. Normally we get the slushy and ice, hardly enough to build a decent snow man.

This is when I miss the fact that we moved into the town and out of the villages nearby.

Yep!!! My favorite is when the drifts come there are some country lanes that end up with drifts so high they practically join at the top, creating long snow caves.

Last time it snowed reall bad , 1990 I think it was, we raced through those lanes and as we went the caves snow would start to collapse down. I nearly got buried once. It was amazing.

Back then I had a crappy little ford escort, fancy trying it now in the Vectra with a much bigger and faster car. Plus the ABS and Traction Control mean you could go faster too!!!

My fondest memories of winter when I was a child was when we'd get up and put on the local tin-pot radio station to find out which schools were closed for the day.

When it snows here in good ole PA, Tommy and I take out the old 73 Chevy pick up and do doughnuts on the back roads.

Way I'm looking at it is that my Vectra is due for renewal in 6 months time so if I were to smack it up too bad then I'll just get my renewal brought forward. (After all, it WOULD be a genuine accident... )

Schools were closed all over the place here the past two days. For those of you who don't reolize it, if you get a couple of inches of snow per hour, it adds up fast. The plows can't cover the ground fast enough.

This cold spell that passed through recently was ultra pathetic!! In Dallas we had an 'Ice glaze', which is like half a millimeter of ice, and everyone panicked and there were like 74 car crashes, and a school bus full of children was stranded on an overpass

It was! Then it got warmer, and then this week we had that cold spell, and now it's sunny and back in the high 50's.

Apparently it's been an indicator of heavy snows following on 4-8 weeks later when it happens at this time of year, according to the weather guy on the TV anyway.

I gave up on asking for video games, my parents havn't bought me any of that for a couple of years.

There's no chance for a digital camera, though. Those are like $700 dollars. My family isn't exsactly rich. Not poor by any means, but not rich.

I havn't had a cell phone since this summer. A bunch of my friends and I went to this river just over the Minnesota border in Wisconsin. It's called the Apple River. What you do is, rent a tube, then float down a river all day long, drinking beers. Man is that fun! You're drunk all weekend (which seems like a good idea, until Sunday when the headache sets in ). Anyway, to make a long story short, I dropped my cell phone in the water when I was all wasted. So I've been paying $50 a month for the plan, and havn't had a phone. I can't cancel the plan, because I would get a huge cancelation charge.

maybe you'll get the digital camera next year... enter a bunch of contests they usually have stuff like that...you can always hope
