There must have happened something very important to make him think that the dark side is the best. What do you think? He got tired from the Jedi somehow (or had a conflict with them) and tried to find a quicker source of power?

I think something happens where the council finds out about Padme being pregnant, they suspend or ban Anakin, and then he goes to the Dark Side after being persuaded by Palpatine. Palpatine will play a crucial role in Anakin's turn, and in Episode III as he moves from Supreme Chancellor to Galactic Emperor.

I agree with you in many things, but I don't think the Jedi will expel Anakin from the Order. It would be too risky. I think he'll quit the Order by himself. That's my opinion, of course, I may be wrong.

I doubt they will ban one of their best jedi ever during a full-scale galactical war

well, if you look at it, his mother got killed, he doesn't feel supported by his mentor, has a big ego (come on, the nagger about how good he is!) and padme going to OB1 instead of him

Word has it the Clone Wars will be ending well before the movie's end, so he may be banned then.

I think his mother getting killed pushed him toward the Dark Side, but not into it. There is something more, something very significant which will push him and/or persuade him.

natethegreat... the rumor as it stands is that the last battle of the Clone Wars will be shown as the first scene of EpIII, and this is more or less a fact with all the spoilers and hyperspace chats we had

that's not it, Lucas himself stated that there is always balance in the force with the Jedi running around but that as long as there are also sith there is imbalance
yeah, anakin did bring balance but not by first helping to kill jedi but ONLY by in the end killing sidious and redeeming himself making there be no sith anymore

In my opinion, killing the majority of Jedi Knights cannot bring balance to the Force; think about it: Murdering the keepers of the peace has only brought terror to the galaxy = IMBALANCE. It doesn't necessarily need to be compared to a scale (is it Ok?? I've never used this word before in English). Balance is brought by extinguishing evil, so Anakin did it by killing Palpatine.

If your explaniation with the Sith and Jedi are true then how could there be "balance" with even one jedi and no sith?

anakin was too old and his life too traumatic. Plus consider this: gee, there's a sithlord on the loose screwing up the whole galaxy. let's cast off the most powerful force user for screwing around with a senator and leave him hungry for revenge and easy prey for the dark side.
my point being: though I highly doubt the council finds out about anakin's trespasses (they're figting a war! they've got more urgent things at hand!!!), if they did, they could not afford to lose him because of his potential to be an unstoppable enemy (proves true), anakin falls because of a very messed up life of usury, loss, neglect, and helplessness. In his situation, i would fall victim too

Anakin finds out that Padme is cheating on him with Obi-wan. He takes his anger out on Dooku, and totally slaughters him, which turns him over to the Dark Side.

We also need to consider the small fact that, whilst the Jedi where aware of the prophecy of the chosen one, the sith were totally ignorant of it. For did not the Emperor Himself suggest that the Son of Skywalker be destroyed. It took a former Jedi (Vader) to remind His Excellency, Lord Sidious that Luke would make an excellent ally to the sith.
Balance here? Clearly so.

Indeed, indeed, and the point is, it was Anakin/Vader who instigated the balancing factor with Luke as the catalyst to what became a swift chain of events. Obi Wan very probably foresaw this, hence his decision to hide Luke from Anakin, knowing full well that they would meet later, Anakin could fulfill his prophesy and Luke would would complete the circle that the sith, inadvertently, had started.

Darth Sidious/Emperour Palpatine seemed to have been totally oblivious to all of this but then the Sith where unmindful of the "Living Force", they simply wished to tap into it's inherent power, not learn from it's ability to guide and teach.

Whilst the Jedi allowed themselves to be nutured and guided by the Force, the Sith took it's power to try to feed power. They cared not about the continuance of the Force, nor little about knowledge of the Force.

Perhaps all along, the Force itself ensured fulfillment of the prophecy. Perhaps the demise of Vader/Anakin and Sidious/Palpatine was simply...........the Will of the Force.

Immediate power. Staying with the Jedi would have made him powerful but it would have taken too long.

How about this? Palpatine tries to convince Anakin that the Jedi are corrupt and they could have saved his mother. The Jedi discover Palpatine's Sith ways and attack him. Anakin, confused as ever sides with Palpatine to defeat the Jedi. This is what I have concluded from the various hints that Lucas has dropped in the commentary of the two DVD's.

I would agree with the good/bad balance agreement, but Lucas clearly says that the Dark Side is clouding the Force. Therefore the force cannot be in balance until the Sith are defeated.

That's what I rekcon too. Palpatine manipulating things to turn Anakin against the Jedi, against Obi-Wan.

Palpatine will work on Anakin to made it a Sith Lord by manipulate him well. Playing with his feelings at will. Anakin will also see that the Dark Side is well beyond the light side in term of tool of destruction.

I agree with The One Part 2 it makes sense.
I dont know about anybody else but i want to see Anakin fall to the darkside by trying to do something good but he fails so he gets mad and turns to the darkside. Then Plapatine tells him if he was on the darkside he wouldnt of failed.

I think that booth anakin and Dooku both joined the darkside with the best of intentions.

First timer here, just thought i'd put in my two cents. From rumor that i've heard I believe that there is some big arguement between Obi Wan and Anakin that turns Anakin. I've also heard that at some point, my guess is obviously after he turns, there is a big fight between the two. Obi Wan woops Anakin and pretty much cuts him to pieces, thereby forcing Anakin to become half machine as is seen in ROTJ.

Anakin was just a big brat in my opinion who had a temper tantrum and this tantrum just happened to effect the whole galaxy since he's full of midichlorians.

It's going to be all Sidious he's going to be chatting away at Anakin's ear throughout the entire movie and then during the duel with Windu is when we will really see Anakin turn to the dark side, Sidious may bring something up about his mother or Padme saying that its the Jedi's fault etc..etc..etc..
