HavocHound
Please list all the games you can think of whose stories would make a good flick that haven't been done already. I'll start.

- They Hunger
- Flashback
- Out of this World
- Faxanadu
- Alone in the Dark
- The Last Half of Darkness
- The Legend of Zelda
- Half-Life*

*Half-Life could be combined with Blue Shift and Opposing Force for a 3-way movie with multiple main characters.

I have an idea of which actor's would be good for Half-Life. Charlie Sheen could play Gordon Freeman. Bruce Campbell could play Barney Calhoun. And Michael Biehn could play Corporal Adrian Shepherd. I know Michael Biehn might seem too old to play a corporal, but they can make him look younger, like back in the '80s when he was playing characters like Kyle Reese and Corporal Dwayne Hicks. Either that or he could play a seargent and someone else could play Shepherd. But who? Someone in their 20s who's a good character actor. You choose.

Texas
Spice World

ToMacco
Have they made a good movie from a video game yet? No. Oh wait, I forgot about Super Mario Bros. roll eyes (sarcastic) big grin

Ushgarak
Flashback would be odd, based as it was on Total Recall but with aliens in...

Charlie Sheen as Freeman? Nowhere near nerdy enough.

ToMacco
Warrwick David would make a good Zelda (or Link or whatever the hell his name is)

Texas
Warwick Davis is a good actor, he's playing some scarry looking weird wizard tecaher dude in HP.

King Jedi
His voice annoys me.

Texas
Doesn't he have a Scottish accent?
rolling on floor laughing

ToMacco
I am William Wallace!big grin

Texas
I'm Scrouge McDuck!!
Wait! Is he Irish?confused

ToMacco
I think he was Scottish. Along with his arch enemy, Glomgold. Man, Ducktails is a great show.smile

Texas
Race cars, laser, aeroplanes,.......da-da-da-danger lurkes behind you...what to do? Just grab on to some ducktals Woo hoo...Disney's Ducktales!!!
I loved that cartoon, it would come on right after Tale Spin, I really miss that cartoon toosad

HavocHound
Mel Gibson plays some of the best characters ever!

- Max Rockatanski
- Martin Riggs (or is it Briggs?)
- William Wallace
- Benjamin Martin
- Porter

The first Lethal Weapon was good except for the part where Riggs takes out a sniper with a pistol from way-afar. No pistol is that accurate. That's what rifles are for. Every Lethal Weapon after that one became contiuously more anti-gun, which displays the hypocrisy of its creators. It confuses me how Mel Gibson would be party to that, seeing as how his other movies display a completely opposing viewpoint (and one I agree with).

The first Lethal Weapon is also good because of Mel's zany antics - like the part where he pulls a Curly and slaps all those guys across the face simultaneously.

ToMacco
I loved Scrooge's #1 Dime. I always envied him for keeping track of his first cent earned.

How did he get it anyway, Tex (or whoever). I seem to remember that he polished shoes, then got his first dime. Is this different from anyone else's memory?

mah
thats what i remember too.

ToMacco
Does anyone know if it is still on perhaps the "Disney Channel"?confused

HavocHound
The reason I think Charlie Sheen could play a good Gordon Freeman is because of the character he played in 'The Arrival', Zane Zaminkski, who was very much like Gordon Freeman. He'd just have to dye his hair and eyebrows red, grow a goatee and dye it red, and wear green contancts and '50s-style thick black plastic-rimmed glasses...oh yeah, and khaki slacks, a blue button-front shirt, a red and black diagonal-striped tie (upper-left to lower-right), brown shoes, and a white lab coat. And over that, he'd have to wear an orange and black hazard suit. Actually, I'm not sure if Gordon takes off the tie, shoes, and lab coat before putting on the hazard suit, but he probably does.

To quote one of the scientists, "Why do we all have to wear these ridiculous ties?!"

I hate all ties - neck ties, bow ties - all of them. Ties are useless. They're meant for nothing but image. Society thinks of them as symbols of professionalism. I think of professionalism in terms of functionality, not image. Form follows function. A tie has no function, serves no purpose. It's pure aesthetic. As a utilitarian-minded person, I oppose the futility of image without substance. A vest is a far more practical choice than a tie.

I also don't like multi-thousand dollar business suits. If you're going to spend more than $100 on a garment, it better be made out of leather. You can get a leather jacket or trench coat for between $100 and $400 that'll last you the rest of your life and longer. Compare that to a flimsy $2,000 suit that could get torn up with the greatest of ease. So then, where's the logic in wearing any material besides leather?

Leather is so versatile. There all kinds of colors, textures, and types. If all the mediocre body-covering materials were abolished and leather adopted as the new standard, humanity would be liberated from the complacency imposed on them by normalcy-enforcing textiles. The choice of the individual would still exist because of leather's versatility. Everyone would have their own custom-made leathers and everyone would be able to afford it. No one would have to be satisfied to just make due with the Tyranny of Cloth.

JediOasis
Metal Gear would make a GREAT movie.

ToMacco
For some reason I picture HavocHound as a big coffee drinker.big grin

HavocHound
guilty! wink
rolling on floor laughing
I like all kinds of coffee, though when I typed that, I hadn't had any. I like the thick stuff - cappucinos and lattes. My favorite is a hazelnut cappucino with orange syrup and nutmeg.

HavocHound
Metal Gear would be great! big grin Michael Biehn would be THE Solid Snake! Who could play Hal Emmerich (AKA Otacon)? How about Kevin J. O'Connor? He often plays quirky sidekick characters like Otacon (example: Joey from 'Deep Rising').

But how would they handle Solid Snake AND Liquid Snake? There's only one Michael Biehn. They'll find a way. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that Michael Biehn plays Snake.

Here's some more ideas:

Psycho Mantis: Kevin Spacey
Vulcan Raven: Dolf Lundgren

Any other ideas?

ToMacco
Michael Biehn was awesome in "The Terminator" and "Aliens"

HavocHound
He sure was! He's one of my favorite actors, right up there with Bruce Campbell, Jack Black, and Ahmed Best.

ToMacco
What else has Ahmed Best been in?

HavocHound
He formerly performed in a play called 'Stomp' (which I've only read a few things about). He's also done commercials (no big accomplishment there, considering that commercials are evil). And he's also written lyrics and he sings too and plays I don't know which instruments.

But Jar Jar is a major accompishment if you ask me. It takes a special kind of person to bring to life such an utterly unique (yet classical in the archetypical sense) character like Jar Jar. big grin

ToMacco
sad sad sad whatever.

HavocHound
You don't like Jar Jar much, do you ToMacco? sad

ToMacco
I don't dislike him. I just don't know why everyone talks about him all the time.

Texas
Ahmed Best is a major league looserroll eyes (sarcastic)

ToMacco
yup

HavocHound
Yeah, but so am I...

...LOSERS UNITE!!

HavocHound
I talk about Jar Jar all the time because I'm a Jar Jar fan. I also talk about Ash all the time because I'm an Ash fan - same as with Mad Max, Travis Bickle, and several others.

Darth Gehenna
Max Payne would make a good film, but it's already being made into one.

Machine
silent hill
metal gear solid
an actual final fanatasy
postal
uuuummmm and maybe iam not sure how but counter strike would be good
oh yeah and resident evil which is coming out in april but did you know they fired george romero the creator of the genre idiots like that deserve to die of cancer or some type of incurable disease

HavocHound
I can't believe I forgot to mention Silent Hill! embarrasment

Which character should the movie follow - James Sunderland or Harry Mason?

Ushgarak
They fired Romero because they thought the script was crap, apparently. Guess we'll never know.

HavocHound
I also heard that Romero made the zombies all hokey and crap with blue-green skin and glowing red eyes - which is NOT Resident Evil-esque whatsoever at all. In fact, that doesn't even follow his own classic style!

Machine
actually i read the script and sounded really good . you can also read it at www.homepageofthedead.com

Machine
why only follow one when you can follow them both and get two times the chilly atmosphere of that great game .you can see more of the games monsters and scary shit with two charaters to follow.

Traydemark03
What videogames have the potential of being good movies?

I think:
-Metal Gear Solid
-Legend of Zelda
-Megaman
-Fatal Fury

Punker69
what about GRAND THEFT AUTO?

Zed
There was a movie called Grand Theft Auto dont know if that is what the game is based on.

Max Payne would be a great movie.......... well it is........ well kind of

MUSE(a band)_16
they are making a max payne movie and an devil may cry movie too

Dogbert
they shoud make a true crime: streets of LA movie

113
They should make a halo movie, but it'd have to be really well done...it has the potential to be really crappy or really good

I agree with traydemark03 on Metal Gear Solid

and since they already have a resident evil movie franchise..maybe a silent hill one also

Evil Dead
The Legend of Zelda................hands down. They really need to make a big screen version. I'm sure it would do well with the nerdy (sorry to stereotype but if the shoe fits), Dungeons and Dragons playing, Lord of the Rings watching crowd.

113
yo that just reminded me, dungeons and dragons did become a movie...wow that was awhile ago...i liked that movie too

BakaXero
isnt Fatal Fury already a movie
or a u talkin movies with real actors
personaly i hope it doesnt happen cause theyll stuff like they did street fighter
like wat happend there
but i thought Zangief was pretty cool
i reckon they should of looked more into the story of street fighter b4 they made it

Traydemark03
Yeah the streetfighter movie was crappy. The only good part was when Zangief said, "Change the channel!" As for fatal fury, I would like to see a real people version. Of course it has to be placed in the right screenwriter's hands like all movies. Who has the rights to Fatal Fury since snk is gone?

Thomas Anderson
Metal Gear Solid would make a great movie. But they must use at least the voice of Snake from the games. He's got the best voice I've ever heard.

Traydemark03
Yeah that's true... What ever happened to Meryl in the game?

BakaXero
i just thought of somthing
if they made any of these movies the storyline would suck so bad because all theyd be doin is show wat they can do with their computer special effects

SaTsuJiN
-clocktower
-soukaigi
-psychic force
-soul calibur
-sonic the hedgehog (hey, they did mario, so sonic cant be worse)
-Morrowind
-Quake 3 : arena (would be funny as hell)
-WarCraft 3
-Diablo/ Diablo 2
-Doom
-Half-Life
-Legend of Zelda
-Metroid Prime (or just Metroid in general)

Lord Soth
Well, Legend of Zelda (a given at this point), plus

-Grand Theft Auto
-Metal Gear Solid
-Baldur's Gate
-Diablo
-Devil May Cry
and War of the Monsters That would kick ass!

BakaXero
i would like to see many of these become movies
but due to recent movie releases
i jus know theyre gonna skrew it up some how
All mad titles but theyll become blockbuster dissapointments
but then Mortal Combat was alright
so that give me hope

glenn
James Bond: Nightfire

the ill
Half Life would definately make a awesome film but I always thought that they should make one for soul reaver

That would be well cool

glenn
Hmm. Soul Reaver would be good as a film but there is no real story to the game apart from kill your own brothers and solving puzzels to get to Kain. I agree with you with Half Life. Classic game. Great movie if they make one.

SilverFighter
These would be good video game movies:

Halo
Prince of Persia: Sands of time
Crimson Skies: High road to revenge (neat title)
Manhunt
GTA: Vice city
Duke Nukem
Counter-Strike (This one would be a box office hit for sure)

Lord Soth
Halo would make a great movie.

Could anyone else see a Devil May Cry movie being made? I certainly could, a great story to play off of

Traydemark03
I think they are making a devil may cry movie.

Kes
Yeh, I could definitelly see a Devil May Cry movie.
I also heard they are making one, but cant remember where.

Lord Soth
Okay, I'm going to search for information. (and if I find none, there is no movie. That's how thorough I am stick out tongue)

Lord_Andres
Doom would make a great scifi action movie, and Warcraft III would be great as well, huge battles, and epic scenes big grin

lil bitchiness
Silent Hill! thumb up

Lord_Andres
oh I almust forgot, they should make a series of the Heretic/Hexen games

kalantiaw
it depends... you can either give in to torture and let her die or you can tough it out and end up saving her, then snake retires and they lived happily ever after... or so he thought *cue suspenseful music*...

this game would make a great movie... the story line is great and the characters are only a handful, which would make it easy to folow for those who didn't play or finish the games...

Lord Soth
News on DMC: No official word from movie studios, but buzz is abound.

MovieMaker5087
Well, for me, I got a couple. But the numero uno Video Game I'd love to see get made into a movie is simply just a one-word game-

1. Halo

If you've played this game, then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, for God's sake, DO IT!

Number 2 would have to be

2. Battlefield 1942

Sure, we've got plenty of WWII movies, but the game itself has a lot of campaingns that could make up a good storyline and a triliogy of these films (Battlefield 1942, 1943, and 1944)

3. The Maz Payne Series

Film-noir at its best. Definently like to see it hit the silver screen.

4. Castlevania

Great game, but almost just like Van Helsing. Damn you, Van!

5. Dragon's Lair

If you're from the 80's or a hardcore gamer, this game actually is a movie in itself! But rumors and actual storyboards floated around after the game's release to the arcades in 1983 that a Dragon's Lair movie would be made. Sadfully, it never did. Rumors, however, are still floating around, and there might be a chance of this game hitting the silver screen!

Well, that's my top 5. How about you guys? What Video Game would you like to see get made into a movie?

Creechuur
1. Devil May Cry - This game is screaming for a movie. It would be so good.

2. Tron 2.0 - I want a kick a$$ modern Tron sequel!

3. Silent Hill - Creepy.

4. Mark of Kri - I'd love to see a Disney-style animated feature with Conan the Barbarian-style violence.

5. Marvel vs. Capcom - How cool would it be to see all the best Marvel characters in an anime? Forget the Capcom, a Marvel anime would be dope!

1-winged angel
1. Conker's Bad Fur Day- how funny would it be seeing a swearing red squirril shoot people to death.
2. Super Smash Bros. Melee- i dont know what the story line would be but seeing all the nintendo guys kill each other it would be great.
3. Tenchu series- ninjas that kill so vilently hell yes.
4. Kingdom Hearts- it would be good if there was no singing.
5. Suikoden series- these games are soo good story lines.

Aku
Devil May Cry would rock and it could also use the Van Helsing kinda cheese-iness but put it to good use coz dante (the guy who you fight as for those who dont know the DMC series) is cheesy anyway. So it would rock.

"lets rock baby"

Metal gear solid would be a classic movie and also tekken. Theyve made mortal kombat and street fighter. And tekken is cool so they should make that.

Maybe they should make tenchu into a movie coz that game ownz.

eleveninches
I liked the first FF movie (the spirits within)

1-winged angel
it was good but now that they are making one bout the ff7 game thats gonna be way better

§pearhead
They should defineitly make the Legacy of Kain series into a move blink Playing that game is a lot like playing a movie, actually confused

boxofdeath2.0
That is the most asinine thing I have ever read. What you're saying is if they make a Halo movie that it will either be good or bad? Thanks for the insight. I'm sure it took many long hours of extensive research to come to that conclusion, and for it I appluad you. Do you have a weekly column I can read or a newsletter I can subscribe to?

Aku
Yo boxofdeath2.0 chill winston. Yeah sure hes abit of a dumbass but he cant ehlp it. Nah just kidding. I dont know the story of Halo but i reckon doom would be a better shoot em up film. They made a film called counter strike but ive never seen it. Apparently its crap though. Wow that was a vlid point big grin

<<Solo>>
Final Fantasy and Zelda would either be a piece of sh!t or something totally awesome.

PurityKnight
have you ever seen Scarface?
a lot from the game GTA Vice City is from that movie

_Av0nA_
Diablo is kinda cool. I prefer online games though.. something like tibia or runescape big grin Try It! :P VRy Cool~ I just start playing runescape but I think it is like a quest or something. Its 3-D that's all I know right now.. lol laughing

gls

9) Dead to Rights---maybe in a few years...
10)Metal Gear Solid--- been talked about for years...

well that's all... for now..

Aku
Theres apparently a new mortal kombat film comming out soon. And the guy who played jonny kage in the first one will be in the new one appareantly. Kung Lao forever!!!!

gls
yea there is- i just mentioned it (see above)

Aku
lol. sorry my concentration these days.

Doctor Strange
This month's Gamepro had a list games that are going to be made into films. So, I, being the nice guy I am, have decided to list them to you with a running commentary.

Ready for showing:
Backwater: Never heard of it.
Bloodrayne: Huh, always thought it would be a porno if made into a film. Obviously, it's going to be R-rated.
Doom: Seriously, what are these developers smoking? Doom wasn't fun for it's story, which was total crap, it was fun because blowing up zombies is cool! A movie full of that is not, though.
House of the dead 2: I need say no more. This speaks for itself.

Now filming:
Silent Hill: I've never played it, but the general consesus is that it's the silver medal to Resident Evil(which rocks) Let's hope this film maintains the game's spirit more.

Script complete:
Dead or alive:... boobies...
Driver:Yes, Hollywood is so creatively bankrupt that they're basing a movie on a driving game. And not a driving game with a cool twist like F-zero, but just a regular driving game.
Mortal Kombat:Hey, remember that half decent film with a really crappy sequel? Let's make a third one! *headdesk*
Onimusha:This actually sounds pretty cool. After the insanely dissapointing Last Samurai, I'd really like to see the demon-fighting Samonosuke. Hell, this game was based on Kurosawa, right?
Prince of Persia: I'm actually excited. Disney's gotten their hands on it, and if the game itself was very cinematic. Thi film could actually be a turning point for both Disney and game movies.

Scripts in revision:
Psi-ops:That's what I call fast. This game came out last summer and already Hollywood is drooling over it.
Spyhunter:....what?

In development:
Darkwatch:Again, what?
Dead to rights: My friend rented this game. It was a half-hearted cop game with a stupid storyline. Skip this one, folks!
Death Jr.:Huh?
Devil may ****ing cry. I know there's a 99% chance this film will fail, but as a fan of Dante's pistols, his demon powers, and his metrosexual fashion sense, I can't help but remain hopeful for this. At worst it will be a second Van Helsing, and that was an okay popcorn film.
Far cry:???
Fatal Frame: A game where your main weapon is a CAMERA. 'Nuff said.
Fear effect:Huh?
The getaway:Mob movies? Yeah, that'll attract the teen crowd.
Halo:Blue pill, please.
Hitman:Wow, a game no one likes made into a movie no one will watch.
Hunter:The reckoning:No clue, though I feel as though I've heard it before.
Max Payne: Hmmm... maybe...
Metroid:This has been discussed at length. I remain catiously optomisitic.
Resident Evil:Afterlife: *sings* Everything old is old again...
Return to Castle Wolfenstien:What's that? That's the sound of a movie flop.
Tekken:I'm neither here or there. Never been much of a Tekken fan.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell:Tom Clancy is a douce anyways. I hated both his books and games.

pr1983
laughing

i've played it... is scarier than resident evil...

considering samonosuke was based on a real guy... this could be sweet...

prince could be very good...

good luck bringing that to the screen, they'll need it...

have you heard of fear effect? the softcore shenanigans of two lesbian secret agents?

Delta 62
I hadn't heard about an Onimusha movie..but since he IS a real guy..it could be awesome. I wish they could skip ahead to the O3 script, it was the best game in the trilogy. A Warrior Within movie could be incredible..I'd love to see the Dahaka pursuit sequences in a movie.
