At the University of Texas you can take a class that teaches you Dwarvish, Elvish, and Orcish. You also learn the history of Middle Earth. How kool is that.

Exa
REALLY?? confused eek!

I wonder what dwarvish and orcish you learn there... tolkien didnt write enough to make that possible

sauron
PH MY GOD I WANT big grinbig grinbig grinbig grinbig grin

orlandoOYEA
Yea i read it in a magazine. I think they teach the history of each culture too. Its awesome.

Exa
Ok, for the history you can also just read the silmarillion big grin big grin big grin

I'm also member of a site where you learn the history (again) and the greyelven language and then have tests and stuff about it... quite interesting though I do not like tests but as long an there is nothing such stupid as marks...

fini
welllllllllllllllllll i think that inventing languages is not only for tolkien to do, i'm sure some people went ahead and created their own language or continued what tolkien statred.

orlandoOYEA
Yes, most likely though it would be an interesting class to take. It would to have a test on Elvish or something. I tried to find it on the UOT site but there was nothing.

Kitoky
I'd rather learn the language at my own home with my own computer, much more fun than listening to a teacher rant on about adjectives and nouns.

Camellia
Oh, I want a class like that in the college I'm going to go to in September!!!

Ha, not likely!!!

I'll just stick to my film and media studiesbig grin

Elondra

Elondra
My German is not that good unfortunately.

orlandoOYEA
Elondra, where do you live? I live in Maryland and i dont think i would go that far for college

Discos
A clas like that sounds nice, Come to think of it me and my friends 80% of the time during breaks at school talk about Lord of the Rings, there are also when my friend plays chess he uses characters from LOTR, lol it is quite amusing, he mostlty forgets which characters are for which colour,

The white pieces represent the "good" side, the pawn pieces represent either orcs or soldiers (pending in which "side he is on"

He makes the"queen" aragorn due to the Kings lack of movement on a chess board and that the Queen is ultimately the greatest piece,

Discos - erm, yes back to the subject

Melani
Do they teach online classes???? oh god i hope so!!

BingaBonga
Yea, I knew that, but I wouldn't take it. I have been learning spanish for now 5 years, and it's so hard for me... It's not just one language, it's three, tough stuff.

orlandoOYEA
Yea i am doing spanish too. I dont think i could handle 3 diffrent languages

BingaBonga
I'd probably forgot all that I learned about them... sad

Exa
I love languages... at school I have to learn German (ok thats no foreign one), English, French, Latin and Italian; I always mix them up with Sindarin and Quenya, especially the grammar sad
