Comn Spidermans gotta have one of the coolest enemies around. Such as, Venom, Green Goblin, Hob Goblin, Carnage, Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, King Pin, and Rhino.

Wolverine also, some of his enemies are: Silver Samurai, Juggernaut, Omega Red, Sabretooth, The Hulk, Magneto, Lady Death Strike, Shiva, Genesis, etc.

Batmans enemies: Bane, Two-Face, The Joker, The Riddler, Cat Woman, Mr.Freeze, Superman(sometimes), Clay Face, Killer Croc, and a ton more.

Ok yea thats about it, for now...

Wizard magazine, in a special villains issue a few years ago, named Spider-Man the hero with the best villains. I tend to agree. Next is Batman and then the Flash, then X-Men. I think that's how it went.

How in the hell could anyone say Joker was gey in the first movie. Nicholsan was the ultimate bad guy performance of all time.
And to the other question, I think Spidey definatly has the best enemies, but Joker is my all time favorite villan. I love how he is evil like everyone else but does evil things in such twisted way. It was awesome in the first movie how he killed people and they died smiling. It was so wicked.

spidermans are so good because they're all pretty powerful, quite alot are just as strong as him which makes for really good fist fights. Scorpion for example is twice as strong and twice as fast(movement and reactions). Thats bloody powerful! Gobby is as crazy as the joker but with superhuman strength(nightmare!). Lizard is stronger than spidey and has bullet-proof skin, and can control reptiles in a mile radius. Electro, must be the most under-achieving villain ever. He can control and store up to a million volts(literally) of electricity!Really, he could kill almost anyone if you think about it. I mean, batman has hurt superman with massive electrical shocks, so presumably Electro could too.If you can hurt supes, you can almost hurt anyone!Then there's sandman who's indestructable and has 70tonne range strength(I think). Rhino= 80 tonne strength, 100mphspeed.
Theyre all absolute powerhouses but not too much like some of supes' villains. Spideys win by a country mile IMO.

And I didnt even mention those lovely sociopath symbiotes - Carnage and Venom!

One of the best parts of Spider-Man's villans is how they not only affect Spidey, but many of them also affect Parker. Goblin is his best friend's dad, and then his best friend. Scorpion attacks a man Parker hates, but he is forced to protect him. The symbiote used to be with him, and it knows all his darkest fears. The villans for Spider-Man also have wicked deep stories. They all have pretty cool origins.

Definitely Spider-Man. Their abilities, storylines, character profiles...everything about them rocks.

Not only do they mess with him physically, but they mess with him mentally.

Of all the people to label a homosexual, you chose a character who was ratted out due to his dalliances with his boss's woman and spent the rest of the movie in pursuit of another beautiful woman. This character, who twice shows his interest in the opposite sex, is played by Jack Nicholson, a notorious womanizer.
Where exactly is the gay part? Is it the purple suit? The pretentious nonsense about being an artiste? You're a moron. The purple suit and flamboyant behavior denotes insanity, not sexuality, and the "artiste" crap is part of the joke. Grow up, and learn to use the proper descriptive terms when writing and talking.

Even though I am biased towards Spider-Man villans, I have to admit that Brainiac from Superman is pretty sweet too. I HATE Superman, but Brainiac is pretty badass.

Jesus, Everyone knows Ghost rider has the best enemies. MADCAP is his enemie, and that alone makes him instantly better than other heroes, let alone his other cool enimeis. or spawn. he has some good stuff.

Venom is the best, altho his enimies get stomped by him. except Carnage

Spiderman: The Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Kaine, Vulture, Mysterio etc, all awesome.

However, I personally think that even though Spidey does indeed have the best long list of villains, I'd have to say the best all time villain has to be The Joker.

The Green Goblin comes close, as does Venom, but The Joker is the true super villain. I love it how, like Batman, he has no real super powers, but he's probably the most dangerous psychotic madman ever. Jack Nicholson played him brilliantly and he's the reason why the first Batman movie is the best comic-to-film ever. I also love the way Mark Hamill does his voice in EVERY cartoon version of the Joker yet. He's in Justice League, Static Shock and Batman providing that amazing Joker voice.

I am SO SICK of people thinking higher of "super powered" villains than the Joker.

Put it this way, if The Joker OR Batman had ANY super powers they would be TOO powerful and would both wipe the floor with any super hero or super villain. Think about that next time you yell "OMG joker is such a sUx0rz!!1111!!one!!!!eleven!111!!!"

In terms of writing a character (and not coming down to petty fanboy 13 year old power struggles) The Joker is pure gold (not to say Spideys bunch aren't, they rock too).

OK, it's not a comic but when I read the question I automatically thought of: Xena vs Callisto. I know, I know, it may sound laughable to the set in stone giants such as spiderman, batman etc but hey it still counts and I think Callisto is an awesome villian

Didn't read Red Superfly, before I wrote and I must agree, the Joker is one of the coolest villans, he's killed the second Robin, Paralyzed Barbra Gordon ( Original Batgirl), and killed the Comisssoners wife, he's even dealt death by nuke before, and Not only is he a maniac, but he's a genius at that, albeit a little misguided. Not even Gobby, who killed Gwen Stacy ( spidey's first true love), made cyborg imposters of the webhead's parents, and due to the curse of the Goblin caused the death of his best friend, harry. can compare to the negative impact Joker has had on Batman's life.

I say Bats Bunch are tops, The 1960's show turn the major 4 Joker, Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman, into major stars, They even team up in the 1966 movie to fight Batman and Robin. These 4 are tops, No other Villian of Batman's should be rated over these 4, and maybe even Spiderman's villians should be below these 4 too.

Joker is of couse tops. He is the best of all time, He does evil acts, that defie logic, I mean can you relly understand why he try to copy write fish?? Or why he killed his own goons just to prove a point?? Non of it makes sense, and even Batman does not know what Joker was up too even after he "Solve the case" He go back to the Bat Cave, and say something like I put Joker back in Arkham, but I still dont get it???

Spider-Man fights geriatrics. He has some decent enemies but most of his best fights are cross-overs with other heroes.

Hulk fights some sickos but I think Fantastic Four have the best enemies.

Dr.Doom, Galactus, Annihilus, Mole-Man. Plus all the random events they have to get involved in.

Batman has the most recognizable villains though. If you approached an average person on the street and showed him/her a list of the 10 most popular villains of Spider-Man (or anyother superhero's) and then a list of Batman's, which one do you think they will know the most?

The thread is "Which hero do you think has the coolest enemies", not "Which hero do you think has the most known enemies".

I agree Batman has some superb enemies (Joker anyone ?), but compared to those of Spider-Man, they are not as cool.

But that's of course only my opinion.

Bah, Batman's enemies have much more depth, see Long Halloween, and Arkham Asylum.

I have lately gone back to reading some old spider man comics and I realised something. Spider man villans can be some of the stupidest people alive in the comic book world. I mean the number of times that the villans have almost defeated spider man and then done something so stupid that a 10 year old would know not to do, it just pisses me off.

I dont know if this is just spider man (I am gessing it happens in all comic books) but the villans are really annoying me with thier incompetance at following through with thier plans. It always starts of well and near the end they do something stupid that is sometimes out of character. Lately I have been rooting for the villans (lets face it they could use the support), and finding myself annoyed at how the stories end.

One of these days I hove a villan smartens up and just puts a bullet in spider man when he is down instead of taking him back to his place for some chat and elaborate death trap, don't these people ever learn?

Joker, He is driving to insane, by the death of his wife, and falling into the vat, and Now he finds out his wife is murder, and he is caseing the dirty cop who did it down, He is going to kill him not unless Batman stops him of couse. I not too sure about the story line though, But I givinig it a chance.

Red Claw from the TAS, She was cool, She was going to black mail the us, with that weapon she stole, but Batman and Catwoman stop her.

Scarcrow, I think TAS Scarecrow was better than the comics lol. But for a while he was up there with Joker as top villians.

Clayface, I still dont see how Batman can beat him?? I dont see how Spiderman can beat him?? I mean the guy can not die, knock him off a building and he lives, He can drown Batman in his clay, but we all know Bats.

Twoface, Jones ruin him in Batman forever, One of the best shows of TAS was Twoface one and 2. Chance, Choose if your born or not, If you live or Die, IF your good or bad, I loved that line, very cool villian.

The peguin is cool, In the comics, he is the Kingpin of Gotham, with out the might.

FireFly, He was all sum in knightfall, He and the Joker/Scarecrow, was the main cause of draining Batman down for Bane.

Zsasz, With he kill he cuts a scar into his skin, He might have a higher body count than the Joker, and thats saying something.

joker is a really cool villain, and that the thing, he has no powers, yet he is SUCH a good villian, which only makes his appeal all the more. Kind of like how batman is a good hero, yet he has no powers (unless you consider bill gates as having super powers as well..)
