Beastbone
Hi everyone! I've posted this at a few other sites. Some of you may have seen it already. Just looking for some fresh eyes.

EXT. BLACK
The screen is blank. Silence. And then, in darkness:

JEAN (v/o)
Mankind stands at the edge of a precipice.

Slowly a hazy panorama fades in. We are under water. Entire trees are submerged. In several places, there are chunks of concrete wedged into the mud. We pass slowly through the trees, toward an indestinguishable object.

JEAN (v/o)
Factions of humans and mutants alike have staked their claim on the world and neither seems willing to relent to the other. A final, violent evolution, looming just over the horizon, has inevitably arrived.

We pass a tree. One of it's branches is broken and embedded into the water's floor. A shiny thing hangs from this branch. We move closer to it and see that it is "dog-tag." The word "WOLVERINE" is engraved into it.

JEAN (v/o)
One species will flourish, the other will slowly die out, generation, by generation.

The branch snaps and the dog-tag sinks to the bottom. We keep moving.

JEAN (v/o)
However, a new exponent has entered this equation.

We are moving closer and closer to the indestinguishable object. It looks almost like a...human body.

JEAN (v/o)
While the rest of the world asks itself which race evolution will choose to inherit the Earth, no one is asking the more important question.

We are close to the body now. It is a female, garbed in black leather that has began to fall apart after a few months. Her neck is very obviously broken. She floats just above the floor. We have seen her before. She is Dr. Jean Grey and she is dead. We zoom in close on her dead face until we reach a tight close-up on her open and lifeless eyes.

JEAN (v/o)
What is it we are evolving into?

Her eyes blink and when she re-opens them, they are full of orange and red fire. We quickly zoom into these eyes. Cue music. Openning credits roll.

EXT. MUIR ISLAND--NIGHT
The complex is fairly small and modern-looking. Lots of floor to ceiling windows. It appears as "quaint" as a genetic research facility can be. There is a sign out front: MUIR ISLAND: GENETIC AND MUTAGENIC RESEARCH FACILITY.

INT. MUIR ISLAND HALLWAY--NIGHT
Xavier and Logan move down the hallway towards a door. The interior of the complex is very much like the lower levels of the X-Mansion. Blue Steel.

LOGAN
Who's this MacTaggert lady?

XAVIER
Moira is an old friend. We've been working together for almost twenty years.

LOGAN
How come this place is so out of the way?

XAVIER
Moira specializes in extreme mutations. Mutants who have become a danger to themselves and to others.

Logan stops. His mood shifts dramatically.

LOGAN
Is that what this is about?

Xavier stops. He wheels around to face Logan.

XAVIER
Logan, please.

XAVIER
We're here because Moira needs my help identifing an unknown mutant signature.

Logan snorts.

XAVIER
Though I was tempted.

A voice from over Xavier's shoulder draws their attention. It is a Scotish female.

MOIRA
Fighting in my hallway?

ANGLE ON MOIRA
She is slightly younger than Xavier, red haired and beautiful. She wears a white coat. (I keep picturing Gates McFadden from "Star Trek TNG."wink She steps out of the doorway and begins to walk towards Xavier and Logan.

MOIRA
Maybe I should lock both of you up.

She and Xavier embrace.

XAVIER
Moira this is Logan, he is...at the school he...

Xavier is a little lost trying to explain Logan to Moira. She laughs a little and then approaches Logan.

MOIRA
So this is your adamantium man, Charles. Pleased to meet you.

Logan gives a little nod or wave or something.

XAVIER
Have been able to isloate the mutant's location?

MOIRA
I have. I don't think you'll like it, though.


CUT TO:

INT.MOIRA'S LAB--NIGHT
Xavier, Moira, and Logan look at a view screen. There is a map of North America on it. The rest of the lab is a little dark. Moira points as she speaks.

MOIRA
The "pulses" started at about three am last Wednesday and have been getting stronger. One of my operatives in Michigan was rendered unconscious for a few hours.

LOGAN
You say these are going through North America?

MOIRA
Yes.

XAVIER
The pulses have coincided with my recent episodes, Logan.

LOGAN
How come the rest of us are okay?

XAVIER
The episodes are telepathic in nature. Cerebro isn't completely back on line yet, so I haven't been able to find the source.

MOIRA
Charles beleives that these pulses are being used like a homing beacon...a cry for help.

LOGAN
So lets find this guy and help him.

He looks at Xavier.

LOGAN
We do that right?

MOIRA
I'm afraid it won't be as simple as that, Logan.

Moira punches some buttons. The image of the map is gone. We are looking at a satelite photoghraph of Alkali Lake. Logan and Xavier are frozen in their tracks.

MOIRA
Judging from the strength levels of the pulses, this has got to be the point of origin.

XAVIER
Moira, certainly there's been some mistake.

MOIRA
I'm sorry, Charles. I've checked over and over.

ANGLE ON LOGAN
He stares blankly at the screen. Finally.

LOGAN
Well, what are we waiting for?

EXT. MUIR ISLAND--NIGHT
The X-Jet leaps into the air and shoots off.

CUT.

END OF SCENE

INT. THE HELLFIRE CLUB, SHAW'S OFFICE--NIGHT
Magneto, Shaw, Mystique, and Worthington stand near the fire. Emma sits in an easy chair, seemingly the focus of those around her. Shaw turns and looks at the fire. Worthington looks a little lost.

ANGLE ON SHAW
He looks satisfied.

SHAW
After all this time...

MAGNETO
The possibilities are limitless.

EMMA
Erik, dear, you realize that we cannot force Mrs. Grey to power the machine.

WORTHINGTON
Machine?

SHAW
An Egyptian bauble that Lensherr and I aquired years ago.

EMMA
Don't concern yourself, Warren.

WORTHINGTON
Why wouldn't she do it?

MAGNETO
It's the motives she would question, my boy.

WORHTINGTON
What does the machine do?

ANGLE ON EMMA
She stands suddenly. She looks around.

EMMA
Some one is eavesdropping.

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
He isn't surprised.

MAGNETO
Charles.

CUT TO:

INT. THE X-JET--NIGHT
ANGLE ON XAVIER
He sits next to Logan and Moira. He is concentrating. He takes a deep breath in and relaxes.

LOGAN
Where is he?

XAVIER
Someone is hiding him from me. We'll have to assume, for the moment, that Magneto is abreast of the situation.

LOGAN
That means step on it, right?

CUT TO:

INT. THE HELLFIRE CLUB, SHAWS OFFICE--NIGHT
Same as before.

EMMA
He's lightened up for now.

MAGNETO
You have my gratitude, Ms. Frost.

SHAW
Is he close, Emma?

EMMA
For the moment. I think he's airborne, moving towards North America.

MAGNETO
We have wasted enough time.

SHAW
Worthington, go ready the club's jet.

MAGNETO
There is no time. They'll be in Canada within the hour. I'll go, you catch up to me.

EMMA
Shaw, we can't trust him on his own!

Magneto is moving toward the window.

MAGNETO
Mystique will stay with you. I assure you, I'll be back for her.

Magneto holds up a hand and the window locks shatter and swing open.

WORTHINGTON
Wait.

Magneto turns around. Worthington starts to remove his tuxedo jacket.

WORTHINGTON
I'm coming with you.

Worthington looks back at Shaw, who nods and then removes his coat. Behind him, two thirteen foot wings made of white feathers unfurl. He approaches the window. He dives out. Magneto slowly lifts from the ground and follows.

ANGLE ON MYSTIQUE
She is worried about Magneto.

INT. HELLFIRE CLUB, SHAWS OFFICE--NIGHT

ANGLE ON A TELEVISION
A small black and white monitor. We see Jean Grey still restrained in the machine. She doesn't struggle. The Phoenix effect is still ambient in the room.

EMMA (OS)
I've got her. For the time being at least.

PAN UP TO SHAW AND EMMA LOOKING AT THE MONITOR
Shaw sits behind the desk, Emma leans over it.

SHAW
Time being?

EMMA
She's getting stronger. If we're going to do this it needs to be soon.

Shaw sits back in his chair.

SHAW
Agreed.

MYSTIQUE (OS)
We need Erik to activate the energy converter.

PAN OVER TO MYSTIQUE
Who stands next to the window, looking out wistfully.

MYSTIQUE
We shouldn't have left him.

Emma walks into frame.

EMMA
Phoenix was temporarily weakened after her display. It was our only chance to--

MYSTIQUE
I wasn't talking to you.

ANGLE ON EMMA
She winces, insulted. She moves to retort, but then recoils.

EMMA
Of course not.

WIDER ANGLE
The whole office. Mystique moves to Shaw.

SHAW
What do you prepose we do, Mystique? Time is a factor. Phoenix could slip out of Emma's control at any second.

MYSTIQUE
Have you seen the news?

Mystique leans in over Shaw, and adjusts the monitor.

ANGLE ON THE MONITOR
A 24 hour news channel. Images from the X-men's press conference. Random. Stealing the helicoptor.

ANCHORMAN
--a private army in upstate New York, Xavier's School has been investigated several times by different branches of the government regarding their mutant connections. Prior to the attack on US armed forces at New York's Laguardia airport, Ms. Munroe made her intentions very clear. The group is believed to been en route to London at present....

ANGLE ON SHAW, EMMA, MYSTIQUE
They look at each other.

END OF SCENE

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT--NIGHT
Jean and Emma. Jean is in the machine, Emma stands before her. In the
background Shaw is out of focus at the control station. Some somber, light
music subtly kicks in. (Think of when Xavier goes into the bad Cerebro in X2.
That's what I hear in my head.)

ANGLE ON JEAN
She is still. Her eyes are empty. This is not Jean we are seeing; it's
Phoenix, enthralled by Emma.

ANGLE ON EMMA, OVER JEAN'S SHOULDER
She reaches her hand at Jean.

MEDIUM SHOT: EMMA, JEAN; SHAW OUT OF FOCUS
Emma slides her hand down Jean's cheek. She throws a glance over her shoulder
to Shaw.

RACK BACK TO SHAW
He begins to press buttons.

CUT.

INT. THE STOLEN JET--NIGHT
Cyclops presses some buttons, while Storm holds the stick.

PAN BACK PASSED BEAST AND NIGHTCRAWLER TO ICEMAN AND ROGUE
Rogue shivers visibly, reacting to Emma's touch. ICEMAN leans in and puts his
arm around her.

CLOSE ANGLE ON ROGUE
Her expression matches Jean's.

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT--NIGHT

CLOSE ANGLE ON JEAN
(Just to cover my tracks) She indeed has the same look as Rogue. The Phoenix
effect begins to extend out of her again. Her eyes line with fire. She looks
like she is about to speak.

CUT.

EXT. CANADIAN WILDERNESS--DAY
Through some trees, we see a small Military compound.

CRANE UP TO A BIRDS EYE VIEW
We see clearly that the Canadian Compound is very similar to the Mutant Death
Camp from the first scene. Large stone perimeter walls. Both a blessing to the
production designer and a testament that the danger room sequence is not that
far off. Worthington drifts into frame.

ANGLE ON LOGAN
Worm's eye view: We can still see Worthington in the sky. Logan is watching
the compound. Worthington descends and lands next to Logan.

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT--NIGHT

ANGLE ON SHAW
As he begins the final stages of the sequence, flipping levers and adjusting
settings.

WHIP PAN OVER TO JEAN
Emma stands nearby, though the Phoenix effect has nearly over taken the entire
frame. Jean leans her head back and slings it down.

JEAN
Scott!

CUT.

INT. STOLEN PLANE--NIGHT
A very sharp cut in on Rogue, who mirrors Jean's movement and speaks in unison
with her.

ROGUE
Scott!

WHIP PAN TO CYCLOPS
Catching everyones reaction on the way. Cyclops instantly flys from his seat
and begins to move back to Rogue.

TRACK CYCLOPS
He reaches Rogue, who is generally creeping Iceman out.

CYCLOPS
Rogue? What is it?

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT--NIGHT

ANGLE ON JEAN
Shaw has moved to Emma in the background. Jean jerks around.

JEAN
Not...right...something...

CUT.

INT. STOLEN JET--NIGHT

ANGLE ON ROGUE
Cyclops, Iceman in background.

ROGUE
Not...right...something...

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT--NIGHT

ANGLE ON JEAN
Emma and Shaw look concerned in the background.

JEAN
...the White...Queen...

CUT.

INT. STOLEN JET--NIGHT

ANGLE ON ROGUE
Iceman, Cyclops in the background.

ROGUE
...The White...Queen...

SWISH PAN TO BEAST
This sounds familiar to him.

BEAST
What did she say?

TRACK BEAST
As he starts back towards Rogue.

CUT.

EXT. CANADIAN COMPOUND-DAY

LOGAN'S POV
Two guards changing shifts in front of the huge gate in the wall.

REVERSE ANGLE
Logan and Worthington look at each other.

LOGAN
Done anything like this before?

WORTHINGTON
I snuck into the Dean's office in college.

Logan is visibly unimpressed. He starts down the hill that they have been
standing on.

TRACK LOGAN AND WORTHINGTON
As they make their way down the hill.

LOGAN
Why would you do a thing like that?

WORTHINGTON
One of my buddies changed his grades. I was going to change them back.

Logan gives a take of utter disbelief and then puts his arm out and stops
Worthington.

WIDE ANGLE ON THE COMPOUND

A guy with binoculars on top of the walls. The shift change guys are still
talking.

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT-NIGHT
Shaw and Emma look at each other.

PAN AROUND SHAW AND EMMA 180 DEGREES
Until Jean is in the shot. She is motionless now.

JEAN
It's time.

CUT.

INT. STOLEN JET-NIGHT
Same shot except with Rogue in Jean's place and Cyclops and Beast in Emma and
Shaw's places.

ROGUE
It's time.

CUT.

EXT. CANADIAN COMPUND--DAY
Wide shot. The guards have stopped talking. One of them heads off. The othere enters a code and opens the gate.

REVERSE ANGLE
Logan and Worthington. Logan looks at him.

LOGAN
Okay.

Logan darts off, low. Worthington leaps up and out.

TRACK WORTHINGTON
As he shoots up into the sky, his wings beating. We catch a glimpse of the horizon in the background. The sun is setting.

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT-NIGHT
Close on Jean. She looks upward. The Phoenix Effect is at its strongest now.
In fact, we can't tell exactly where it begins and Jean ends.

PULL BACK
As Jean RAISES HER ARMS THROUGH THE RESTRAINTS AS IF THEY WEREN'T THERE.
(Think Kitty Pryde.)

ANGLE ON JEANS FEET
She is barefoot. Her ankles are also restrained. The metal restraints from her
hands fall into frame and dangle just above the floor. Jean steps OUT OF HER
ANKLE RESTRAINTS.

ANGLE ON JEAN, CLOSE
Her eyes are still skyward.

JEAN
I'll save you all.

CUT.

INT. STOLEN JET-NIGHT
Similar of Rogue. Eyes up.

ROGUE
I'll save you all.

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT-NIGHT
Medium of Jean, over Emma and Shaw's shoulders. Jean looks down. The Phoenix
effect vanishes. It is SILENT. No Music. Nothing happens. Emma and Shaw look
at each other, confused.

CUT.

INT. STOLEN JET-NIGHT
Same deal: Rogue is quiet, looking down. Beast and Cyclops are confused.

CUT.

INT. HELLFIRE BASEMENT--NIGHT
Slow pull in towards Jean. SILENCE. When we reach a close up of Jean, she
lifts her head slowly and looks forward. She whispers.

JEAN
...now.

PULL BACK
To include Shaw and Emma, as the Phoenix Effect seems to replace Jean's body; a being of pure white energy. We caught a glimpse of her at the opening of X2, but now we see her as she truely is: the most powerful being on the planet. The Phoenix resembles Jean, but is mostly a mist/cloud of glowing fire. Music swells. She looks up again.

ANGLE ON EMMA AND SHAW
Shaw has a protective arm around Emma, as they step backwards away from Phoenix. They are bathed in light.

ANGLE ON PHOENIX
As parts of her nebulous body slowy drift apart and upward.

TRACK THE PHOENIX EFFECT
As it picks up speed, moving towards the top of the great chamber. It is no longer shaped like Jean, jsut an extension of the effect itself. It zaps through the ceiling and is gone. Silence.

CUT.

INT. THE STOLEN JET--NIGHT

ANGLE ON ROGUE
As Cyclops, Beast, and Iceman try to restrain her. She is spasming and screaming, tearfully.

ROGUE
I've got to save us all from them! The White Queen told me how!

They have her calm now.

ANGLE ON BEAST
Who takes another hypo from his sack. Thumps it. Squirts it. Leans in towards Rogue.

BEAST
This will knock her out, I'm afraid.

ANGLE ON CYCLOPS/BEAST/ICEMAN
Rogue is out. Beast pulls away with the needle. Iceman sits next to her and takes her hand.

ICEMAN
Will she be alright?

BEAST
Hard to say. If I knew what the hell was going on, I could give a more detailed prognosis.

CYCLOPS
The White Queen?

BEAST
That's what she said, yes?

Cyclops nods.

BEAST
Strange. The telepath in London. Emma Frost.

CYCLOPS
What about her?

BEAST
It was a joke...I used to call her "The White Queen."

STORM (OS)
Guys...

NIGHTCRAWLER (OS)
Mein gott...

TRACK BEAST AND CYCLOPS
As they leave Rogue with Iceman and make their way to the cock pit, eventually including Storm and Nightcrawler.

SCOTT
What's up, Storm?

STORM
I control the weather, right?

BEAST
Control might be the wrong word, actually...

STORM
You know what I mean. How come I've never seen anything like that before?

Storm gives an little upwards nod. Nightcrawler points out the windshield. Cyclops and Beast gaze out, mystified.

PULL IN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE HORIZON
Where out over the Atlantic ocean, a large...well...Surge of white-hot Heat Lightening is moving from cloud to cloud. It is the Phoenix Effect, crackling it's way across the Atlantic: FAST. It spreads towards us, touching every cloud within range and then reconnecting and disconnecting again. A Phoenix Storm. It reaches us and fills the screen.

WHITE.

CUT.

END OF SCENE.

EXT. ALKALI LAKE BED--NIGHT
We see a roaring fire. Track passed this to reveal several torn pieces of parachute material marked with coal in tiny squares. These seem to be failed atempts at something that took several tries. Keep going. Pass the still unconscious Moira MacTaggart. Hold on the dead dear, that has had several chunks ripped out of it. All the while we hear:

XAVIER (OS)
You see, Erik. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

MAGNETO (OS)
Suddenly you're the expert.

ANGLE ON A SCRAP OF PARACHUTE MATERIAL, CLOSE
It has been laid out into a grid of charcoal marked squares: 8 x 8. Once we see the wooden pieces Xavier was carving earlier we know what we are looking at. It is a crudely fashioned chess board. Magneto has obviously made the first move. We see Xavier's hand move one of the wooden pawns forward two spaces.

XAVIER (OS)
I've been beating you for forty years. I think I have a little lattitude.

MAGNETO (Chuckles OS)
Lattitude?

ANGLE ON XAVIER
He is lit by the light of the fire. His normally pristine suit is covered in deer's blood. There is blood on his face.

XAVIER
From the first move, Erik, you set yourself up for defeat. The knight?

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
He is likewise lit and covered with blood.

MAGNETO
That's a risk I'm willing to take.

ANGLE ON THE "BOARD"
As Magneto moves his knight again; it is almost even with Xavier's pawn.

MAGNETO (OS)
Besides... I could harldy call this a knight. Usually it looks like a horse.

ANGLE ON XAVIER
He smiles as he moves.

XAVIER
And here I thought you would be touched I modeled it after you.

MEDIUM ANGLE: XAVIER AND MAGNETO
Magneto laughs and so does Xavier. Right now they are alone in the world.

ANGLE ON THE BOARD
Xavier's pawn has taken Magneto's knight. Xavier clutches it.

ANGLE: XAVIER AND MAGNETO
Xavier holds up the knight.

XAVIER
See what your bravado has cost you? One of the most important pieces. Crucial.

MAGNETO
Perhaps different things are crucial to different people.

XAVIER
Perhaps.

ANGLE ON THE BOARD
Magneto moves his other "knight."

ANGLE ON XAVIER
He throws his head back.

XAVIER
Erik, you can't be serious!

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
He looks coldly at Xavier.

MAGNETO
I assure you, Charles. If I am anything at all, it's serious.

ANGLE: XAVIER AND MAGNETO
Xavier does his best to continue without laughing. He makes a move.

XAVIER
Do you remember the first thing you ever said to me?

Magneto makes a move.

MAGNETO
No. Though I'm sure it was very appropriate.

Xavier moves.

XAVIER
It was. We were working as doctors during the war.

Magneto remembers. Then he moves.

MAGNETO
Yes. You were seventeen.

XAVIER
And you were eighteen. Good God, Erik. Your voice had barely changed.

Xavier reflects a moment and then makes a move. Magneto moves.

MAGNETO
And you had a full head of hair.

Xavier moves.

XAVIER
There's no need to be cruel.

ANGLE ON XAVIER
Over Magneto's shoulder. Magneto moves. Xavier leans back.

XAVIER
We were stationed in Korea. At...At, uh...The Kumsong River Valley.

MAGNETO
God help us.

XAVIER
I remember... I was in the medical tent. And... No... Yes, it was. Moira brought you in. I was treating a Australian Private with bronchitis. And you came in, with Moira, and you looked at the patient... You looked at me and you said, "You're not contagious, are you?"

Xavier laughs.

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
Over Xavier's shoulder. Xavier finally leans in and moves. Magneto laughs also, remembering.

MAGNETO
Yes... And then you said, "If I am, maybe you have an immunity to it."

Magneto raises his eyebrows.

MAGNETO
Appropriate, indeed.

ANGLE ON THE BOARD
Magneto moves his remaining knight and takes Xavier's bishop.

ANGLE: XAVIER ON MAGNETO
Magneto shows the bishop to Xavier.

MAGNETO
You see. Perhaps his brother did not die in vain.

EXT. ALKALI LAKE BED--NIGHT

ANGLE ON THE CHESS BOARD
There are only a few pieces left. We see Xavier and Magneto's hands make a few moves. One of them is very definitely winning.

MOIRA (OS)
Do you think its possible that there will be an end to this? To everything? Humans and Mutants.

PULL BACK
To include Xavier and Magneto, still playing. Moira sits in the background eating some deer meat.

XAVIER
Moira, the day this ends is the day that one species is gone.

MAGNETO
I couldn't have said it better myself.

XAVIER
Integration is an unending war. A war of bureaucracy and etiquette.

MOIRA
It sounds like a hard life.

Xavier looks pointedly at Magneto.

XAVIER
I had no desire to find the easy way.

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
He looks up.

MAGNETO
Easy. Your right, Charles. I will never fathom just how difficult your life is...safe within your manshion. Your school. Those of us that wander the world, trying to find a place to sleep are just too lazy to make a difference.

ANGLE ON XAVIER
He snaps up.

XAVIER
You are a fugitive, Erik!

WIDE ANGLE
Xavier and Magneto, Moira between.

MAGNETO
And so are you! Now that they know who you are they'll beat your door in and lock you up with me.

XAVIER
They aren't monsters, Erik, we can reason with them.

MAGNETO
That just shows how little you know about them, Charles.

MOIRA
And what about you? What do you know about us?

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
He turns to Moira.

MAGNETO
I know that your earrings aren't real silver.

ANGLE ON MOIRA'S EAR, CLOSE
As her EARRING UNFASTENS ITSELF AND MOVES TOWARD MAGNETO. IT RE-FASTENS IN MIDAIR.

TRACK THE EARRING
As is drifts passed Moira's terrified face. Follow it passed Xavier, who is stoic and down to the "chess board," where it hooks itself on Xavier's king. The king is hopelessly caught between Magneto's knight and a rook.

MAGNETO (OS)
Checkmate.

ANGLE ON ALL THREE
Xavier and Moira are tense.

MAGNETO
You needn't worry, Charles. Perhaps now that my...strength has returned, we won't be so helpless.

Xavier seems relieved. He looks down at the board in disbelief.

XAVIER
You beat me...

Magneto grins.

MAGNETO
Convenient that your telepathy isn't working.

Moira laughs.

ANGLE ON XAVIER
He is shocked.

XAVIER
Erik, I never... you're not suggesting...

ANGLE ON MAGNETO
As he laughs, also. Suddenly a large rack of spotlights blares to life behind him. Imagine a sporting vehicle's light rack, but 10 times as powerful. Magneto looks back and then immediately shades his eyes.

REVERSE ANGLE ON ALL THREE
As they are bathed in light. All of them Squint and cover their eyes. Magneto stands up. Moira moves to Charles.

PULL IN ON XAVIER, CLOSE
His eyes widen.

XAVIER
Good God...

REVERSE ANGLE, WIDE; SLOW CRANE UP
As another light source moves towards the original. In fact we can see a lot of these light racks moving around, only partially illuminating each other for a moment. There are about six of them. We can determine that each stands about 12 feet tall. Every once and a while we catch a glimps of a large rust colored arm or leg, but we never see one of them CLEARLY in this scene. MAKE NO MISTAKE: THESE ARE SENTINELS. (Thank God!) They move in a slow criss-crossing pattern towards Magneto, Xavier and Moira.

PAUSE.

NOT A CUT. JUST A BREAK IN WRITING. SORRY.

Ignore Flavinho. I've read your story twice. I love it so far. It's one of my favorite X-Men Fanfics and I check back regularly for updates. Why, I don't know seeing as how you don't update that often. Which is fine by me because when you do, the writing is of excellent quality. Of course, that's not to say that I'm not annoyed everytime I check back and see the same update. stick out tongue

Anyways, keep up the great work and I can't wait to see what else you come up with!
