There's only a few noticeable, decent movies in there. The thing is, they are all probably fullscreen, black and white, remastered sometime in the 80's when they went to VHS.

It's not as good a deal as it seems. They have "Cult Classic" discs like this in the Wal Mart DVD dump bins for $5.50.

Sure, if you don't care to see movies how they were intended to be viewed by the directors. That may not be the case with movies from the 40's + 50's, however.

Fullscreen isn't the way the movie was intended to be viewed, it's not the way the director intended you to see it, and of course, it isn't the way you saw it/it was presented in theatres.

I only own 1 movie in Fulscreen on DVD, and that's Ginger Snaps, which I plan on upgrading to the Canadian release which is Widescreen. Trust me, once I saw the light, I realized what a big difference there was between the two. It certainly isn't the same movie.

Movies are shot in widescreen, so to make it fullscreen they have to either chop out part of the picture or distort it entirely.

After you watch enough widescreen, you start to notice how awful fullscreen is.

I like both formats..............some movies I enjoy better in widescreen, some in fullscreen. I could not fathom watching movies like Gladiator in full screen........you would be missing half of the movie.

That said.........Stanley Kubrick hated widescreen and shot most of his movies in the full screen format. When they wanted to release his "kubrick collection" on dvd, they tried they're ass of to get him to convert the movies to a widescreen format (to appeal to the wide screen tv people who loathe the full screen format). He refused.......

I believe after his death they did convert some of his films to widescreen (thus stretching the picture).......but not many were produced. You would have a hard time finding a widescreen transfer of The Shining or Full Metal Jacket, because they were not shot in the widescreen ratio.

I've never really thought about this before. It depends wat movie it is i guess.
