what do u think is the best vampire movie.......i like salems lot the most.....and i also like the old vampire movies with christopher lee ..
what do u like????????
Dario Argento
Carl Theodor Dreyer's "Vampyr" and Paul Morrisey's Blood for Dracula.
The Redeemer
Yeah, SALEM'S LOT is the business. FRIGHT NIGHT is pretty decent too for a big budget American film. But George A Romero's MARTIN is one of the best. Ever.

"Salem's Lot" is still the scariest in my book, if for no other reason than it left a deep, scarring impact on me when I first saw it at age six. The makeup effects are as good as any I've seen since, though. They relied on real-life techniques, rather than the dime-a-dozen digital morphing effects in every vampire movie and TV show today.
As far as good 'n' entertaining, I like:
"The Lost Boys"
"Fright Night"
"Interview with a Vampire"
"Bram Stoker's Dracula"
"John Carpenter's Vampires"
...though each has its flaws, of course.
dean7879
i forgot about lost boys.....that movie is excellent and is alongside salems lot for my best vampire films.......interview witha vampire is also quality
SlipknoT
I like Fright Night and Interview with a vampire.

The Hammer films were also enjoyable (like the Cushing/Lee ones Dean mentioned before. I remember seeing one called "Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter" when I was a kid, and being impressed with it. It was in the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart a while back, so I picked it up. It wasn't quite as good as I remembered (they never are), but what was funny was that the "Captain Kronos" part was in tiny writing on the front cover, probably so people would think it was a "Vampire Hunter D" movie if they didn't look very closely.

What's the best vampire movie in my book?
I'll tell you....
From Dusk 'Till Dawn, baby!!!!!!
Lord_Andres
JC's Vampire and Vampire 2

Evil Dead
Best film from story point of view: Martin.....the best vampire film in existence.
Most entertaining: From Dusk 'till Dawn.......it's camp as hell but it is enjoyable to watch.
BackFire
From Dusk till Dawn and Vampires.
tabby999
Dusk Till Dawn (the first one, not the mish mash next two), Interveiw with a Vampire and the first Blade
Deano

Dracula: Dead and Loving it

tabby999
i'd like to add that Lost Boys is awsome.
ShaKoon
Dracula, though vampires don't die of eating garlic, nor do they fear holy water.
ShaKoon
i read it in a vampire fact book, it said all this stuff, it was really cool
i would suggest also Cirque Du freak, it is a different story, but it is all about vampires and junk
SUPERCOOL!
sorry, i double-posted, SORRY SORRY SORRY, i did not mean too!
papabeard
I like Peter Cushing and all that crowd and Nosferatu, i like old school black and white vampire films.
papabeard
I like Salems Lot 2 , is it called Return to Salems Lot?, sure it had a cool story about generations of vampires, anyone got any thoughts on this film?
Deano
i love all the christopher lee vampire flicks..they was cool
Impediment
My grandpa once sat me down and made me watch the 1920's silent vampire flick, Nosferatu, and I really enjoyed it. As far as modern vamp flicks, I'd have to say From Dusk 'till Dawn and Bram Stoker's Dracula. But honestly I've neer been too into vampires. I prefer psychos and zombies.
Jason_Krueger
I haven't seen it yet but heard it was good.......MARTIN directed by George A. Romero
Lady_Jade
Salems Lot. That movie freaked me right out.
kmcdude
That was nothing.vampire

Now that I think about it, no vampire or dracula movie is as frightening as it ought to be. From the time I was a kid, I was terrified of vampires having seen Fright Night but none of these movies are actually scary anymore because the special effects on the old movies have lost their scaring abilities. The problem nowadays is that the Drac movies are too low budget not much story line films and also they have sexified Dracula so much that he has lost his menacing, demonic image. That's why I like the vampires in Blade. I think the only person who every portrayed the immortal love with genuine urgency is Gary Oleman in Bram Stoker's Dracula and the only movies that had a bit of an original storylines (the usual, Dracula looking for Mina his lost love) were Interview with the Vampire & Salem's Lot. I wish they got it right for once and cast actors (for Dracula) who are not just hot but also capable of performing (like Viggo Mortensen, or Joaquin Phoenix, etc.) and did this legendery character some justice with ofcourse good plots, good writing, cinematography, direction, and special effects. I'd love to see that.

starwars For the best vampire movies for me would have to be Salems lot (which is on sometime this month) which I agree with what lady jade said and john carpenters vampires with james woods and daniel baldwin, and of course blade. I mention blade because the priest out of john carpenters vampires is in it as curtis the one who turns into an vampire, the worst vampire movies are the third from dusk to dawn and the sequel to john carpenters vampires los meurtes with jon bin jovi. Also the first til dawn movie kicks ass.
Treehuggerjanie
salems lot. i love queen of the damned too but there isnt anything amazing about it. it just appeals to me
beta-wolf_101
I don't really like vampires they seem to pretty boy to me, personally I prefer werewolves, but I'd have to say Lost Boys atleast they had fun.
kanis
starwars In an gory sort of way.
iTsOKtoSin
Ahh... and shakoon how would you know what vampires die of? Though I have to agree with you. Holy water is as plain as water, blessed by seventy year old priests and garlic is a type of food that lies in many entrees though we do not know it. And another thing - of course if you steak ANYONE through the heart they are going to die. ^^ quite amusing thought actually.
beta-wolf_101
Since this is a movie forum I think they"d go off movie rules.
iTsOKtoSin
yessir. 'beta-wolf' sir if you are talking about my entry.
I think Interveiw with a Vampire was nice.

house
from dusk till dawn, blade, fright night
kanis
starwars Til dusk til dawn rocks so does john carpenters vampires.

OH GOD NOOOO! I'll do anything, just don't make me sit through this film again^
Best vampire movie? I like all of the hammer ones, but they are looking a bit dated now. Near Dark I also enjoyed, but I'm yet to see a 'flawless' vampire movie yet.
One of the best books I have ever read is a vampire novel by Brian Lumley entitled 'Necroscope'. This would make a bloody brilliant film, and its criminal that nobody has adapted it yet.
papabeard
How about THE HUNGER starring David Bowie

zombieman
I think that belongs under the 'nightmares' thread that was started earlier.
hellraiser34
Vampire movies are my favorite. Loved Blade and Lost Boys. Salems Lot scared the crap out of me when I was a kid but now not so much. I thought it was kind of cheesy watching it now. But what can I say, most of the movies made from Stephen's books aren't as good. Zombieman, I would have to agree with you on the Necroscope book. I have the series and it kickes some major a**. I have always thought they should make movies out of those books.
p_s_luvit1989
From Dusk til' Dawn, Salems Lot (The original not the re-make),Salems lot 2:return to Salems lot and Vampire Clan.
Papabeard: Salem's lot 2:return to salems lot is an awsome movie. the whole story outline was incredable and I love the way they filmed it.
zombieman
I could never bring myselft to watch return to Salem's Lot, because they should never have made that movie. At the end of the book, Ben Mears burns Salems Lot to the ground, thus destroying it. They totally went against the original material by making a sequel, shame on Stephen King for not blocking the production of it.
kanis
starwars Lost boys was brilliant the bonfire scene really freaks me out, and the way they did was alright i guess but what do you think about the mutant vampires in blade 2 they were pretty weird with the mouth opening outwards and a parasitic tongue comes out. Yeah he shoulkd of but i was unaware of a sequel til you guys mentioned it, the book is cool because he kills Susan at the end and in the film they sometimes show that.
jayy
UNDERWORLD (YOU BIIOOTCHES!!)
From Dusk Till Dawn
Near Dark
Lost Boys
Interview With A Vampire
Blade
Bram S.'s Dracula
Fright Night (great movie Roddy McDowell was awesome)
John C.'s Vampires (just the first one, the others sucked bad)
Salem's Lot just made me laugh. Not scarry at all!!

THE BEEESSSSSTTTTT EVVVEEERRR!!!
kanis
starwars Cool the vampire werewolf combo thing.
Nay sayer
I like FRight Night, Lost Boys, Interview with a Vampire, Bram Stroker's Dracula and Nosferatu with John Malkovic
kanis
starwars It was a cool film especially when the main characters mate becomes a vampire dog and what do think about the second fright night?
Renegade-agent
Interview with the vampire-has lestat aka the brat prince, the best vampire of all time, stylish and evil, also portrays the story from a vampires point of view and shows how they too can suffer, this is shown excellantly through louie's narration of the story,it is excellant in every aspect.visually, directing wise, acting wise, perfect.
kanis
starwars That's not really my kind of vampire movie, anyway have you noticed that vampirisim in films can be treated with a certain type of pills or a blood transfusion or dna altering chemicals.
Whurlysplat
Interview is simply the best imo
jOHN_Anderton
The vampires in the film "The Forsaken" are scariest imo because if they were real thats probably how they'd behave. Sorta like pack animals and sort of like modern day lowlife's on crack but with much more umph, more intelligence, more lethality. I wish I could find this movie on DVD but I think it's not even available for some reason.
kanis
starwars It was pretty good, some vampires should be feral like the ones in john carpenters vampires their always slashing growling and throwing rather than biting.
papabeard
How about Nadja by David Lynch?
