Everytime I go to google.com (which I do pretty frequently seeing as its the best engine on the net) the internet screws up and this lil box pops up saying 'Internet Explorer has encountered an error and has to shut down immediately' and so on. So I have to close it all and start again.

Its weird cos this only happens on google, nowhere else, and it happens every time I go on it. I just wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this problem

Well, there was a short period of time when my system was unstable as hell, and every time I opened IE it said that it must shut down, would you like to send an error report? bla bla. Check your memory--you might have a severe lack of space. That was my problem.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that, but its pointless because it only does it with google. I've been streaming videos, downloading and doing other complex, memory consuming stuff just fine. and no other sites cause this problem, just google

ok, i don't know if your problem was solved b/c this thread devolved quickly, but here is what i suggest. first, run Ad-aware on your computer, and delete all the junk it finds. THen, run norton virus-scan. (make sure you updated both of them). Then, see if it is doing it still. If it is, go to any other search engine, do a search for the problem. usually, no matter how obscure the problem, i can find about 50 pages (at least) that resolve issues i have.

ok, i did a (google) search and found this...of course, this was posted in 2002, so i don't know if that is the problem, but you might email them anyway.

From what we can tell, it looks like a subtle bug in IE versions 5.0 and 5.0.1 involving UTF8 support. Starting later tonight, we'll be pulling back on UTF8 in those browser versions.
Starting tomorrow, if you visit Google and IE still crashes, please send email to [email protected] with:
- your IE browser version
- your operating system
- whether you have the toolbar installed and what version

We're pretty sure the toolbar isn't related to this, but it pays to be complete. We're hoping that this fix tonight will solve the issue, but if you have any problems we'd like to hear about them.

I had the same problem with google. Search for a file called "QHosts" and delete it. It's some kind of virus thingy.

theres a lot of trojans that can exploit files n make some pages impossible to load...i had 13 this week (n i got rid of em all thank god) but try gettin a virus scanner from McCafee...its the best ive ever seen
