I ahve like 326 mb Ram
a geforce NVididia 2 2200 or soemthing simillar
1.3 gigahertz processer
a large harddrive
and it spontanieously restarts. It actually restarted while I was attmepting to make this thread the first time.
Any help?
LarryTheArch
I didnt buy it, its a result of a TON of- its a custom thank you very much
LarryTheArch
Serious help, anyone?
yerssot
never worked with W2K so I can't really help
I thought I had an idea, but I can't remember the file you have to check
LarryTheArch
thnx anyway
the restarts seem completely random as well... a few minutes after starting the thread it did it, then 30 min later it didi it, and hasnt done it since... but it has only been like 20 or 30 minutes
yerssot
in the meantime, scan your pc for virusses too
LarryTheArch
I did, and nothign came u[
My dad had the same problem, but that was two eyars ago and he dont remember how to fix it...
yerssot
that's bad luck
when you're in a session and you hit ctrl+alt+del, can you see your pc generating a lot of winscript or something along those lines?
Paola
I had the very same problem once
all I had to do was clean it
LarryTheArch
What do you mean?
LarryTheArch
handles 8363
threads 400
process 45
and their is a lot of winscrip runnign as well
Dexx
well..sounds like a virus....update an antivirus to the latest version and scan again....
though you might need to format and reinstall
LarryTheArch
Ive reinstalled three times. Virus definitions are updated and nothing is wrong. No spyware is on my comp. Stupid microsoft. Ill just go bk to MEin a little while...
The One Himself
LTA I see 3 possibilities:
1) Processor's Temperature (is it an AMD?)
2) Video Drivers
3) Memory Problems
Fire
ooh TOH I know another one
Windows updates
installed any windows service packs lately LTA?
LarryTheArch
no its a 1.3 gigahertz Athlon
Possibly Video Drivers, i ahvent updated by nVida's in a while...
memory problems i dunno... all this werked fine on my Windows ME installation
LarryTheArch
uh... yes actually
LarryTheArch
from windows update center thingajobby
yerssot
in "run" type that file and there should be an option somewhere "stop making after X seconds"
change it to one if it isn't, cause my pc had the same problem a year or three ago and that was the problem
Fire
well those W2K service packs sometimes just flip
Dexx
get the last detonator pack, just in case...
LarryTheArch
k.. detonator from the nVidia site?
LarryTheArch
winscrip didnt run any times other than the last 1, and this 1 it stil hasnt
yerssot
than disregard what I said
LarryTheArch
k... 2k is annoying... grrr....
yerssot
go to XP
LarryTheArch
Or back to ME
StinkFist462
XP home ... thats what i got
Paola
I mean I had to blow the dust away from the CPU or however you call it
JKozzy
Isn't that an "AMD Atholon"....?
LarryTheArch
Ieasier to type that way....
Dexx
yes...detonator pack from the nvidia site...i think...
LarryTheArch
thanx guys. But I sed f it and went bak to ME and its all bk 2 normal.
yerssot
there ya go, microsoft
LarryTheArch
thanx guyz
yerssot
on second thought ... do update your virusscanner, there's a virus out named "Sassar A" that does what your pc did
Fire
LTA you prefere ME over 2K, 2K aint that great but ME is about the worst I've seen.
still XP Pro is the best I used so far
yerssot
Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Windows 95
Fire
