I was wondering ive read in places about wolve. and ive also read posts of people in this fourm and some people says his claws are a result of the Wepon X program but i thought that they were actually bone which is another of his mutant powers? any one know the real answer are they origanaly bone (part of his body, the mutant gene) but coverd with adamantium or are they just a result of the wepon x project?

Arachnoidfreak
yes, they were originally bone. thats why when he lost the adamantium, he still had claws. if they were just metal from the weapon x project, the claws would have disappeared.

eleveninches
He still has bone claws under the metal (though im not sure whether or not they were broken - they would have healed anyway)

Darth Jello
he always had claws, they were broken when cyber stepped on, and snapped three of them, I think either jubilee or shadowcat used those claws as weapons for awhile. they grew back of course.

Arachnoidfreak
what exactly is Jubilee's power?? sparkly thingies??

FrothByte
uhm.... the power to produce fireworks? smilesmile

eleveninches
Wow, what a usefull power. Fireworks sad

Arachnoidfreak
but i heard somehwere that she kills alot of people to save wolverine from some group...cant recall the issue right now, but when i get home ill post it. it personally sounds like a useless power(other then for entertainment i guess) and i was wondering how she could kill so many people.

Darth Jello
its low level plasma, she's basically havok jr. I'm not quite sure, but i think she may have mowed down the hand (impressive for a teenage novice). but back to the point, i think wolverine may have had his claws surgically removed at some point before weapon x and then just repressed that memory.

Arachnoidfreak
here it is. the issue im talking about Uncanny Xmen 251.

Wynndar
this is something no one knows..including the writers of X-men who have contradicted themselves in the past...bad editing, making wolverine's claws bone after he lost his adamantium....originally, wolverine's mutant powers caused him to thrust bony spikes out of his skin...kinda like Marrow...but more spikey and random...his claws were givin to him by weapon x and are mechanical...disagree????remember when wolverine fought the morlocks...i think either in his first encounter with them, or right after colossus got raped by pyro and avalanche, and his body went into shock and he almost died, they tried taking him to the morlock's healer...oh shit..maybe it was when they tried rescuing Kitty from Caliban...I cant remember...anyway...he had had his powers stripped from him by one of the morlocks...him and all the x-men in the room had no powers....however wolverine "My claws r not a mutant power, their mechanical"....then he fires out his claws and gets ready to kick ass...his claws come out due to machinery located in his forarms...i dont think he was born with that smile....also in one of his battles, he had the flesh torn from his forarm and the machinery was exposed...it looked kinda like wolverine was some kind of cyborg or something, but it was just the mechanism that fires his claws out...

WWestFlashFan
why'd u have to tell me that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wynndar
sorry...it does bug me how some writer seem like they know nothing about comics sometimes...ive only been collecting for 10 years or so...a punk ass kid compared to some people who have collected their whole lives...but im just 21 years old...it helps to have a middle aged neighbor with thousands of comics in their collection...so ive absorbed a lot of info from his collection...so i get pissed when writers write stupid or contradictory shit

Irish Wolverine
Wolverine represses his memories, which is why he thought he didn't have bone claws. I think the reason they remained there when his powers were taken away might be because while the bones were gone, the adamantium was still there. But yeah, that still doesn't make that much sense. Since he discovered his bones were bone, he's lost his powers, and was still able to use them. Maybe they're like......a part of his body, not just a mutant power. Who knows. Writers contradict each other all the time, it's kind of weird that it goes unchecked.

Spawnie
They took out the adamantium, and then he was in the danger room when he wished the claws by instinct. He got bloody hands and bone claws out. I always wondered about that, and I thought it was cuz his healing power wanted to replace something that was missing. It's not just the healing power but the mutant gene itself. Wolverine with the adamantium is a fully functional mutant capable to defend himself, but u take the metal away and u got him powerless. By powerless I mean his body sostained a great shock and had to adapt to the new fisiological conditions. I thought he grew bone claws out of instinct, and self preservation.

I still don't know what happend to the Wolverine that was on adamantium overdose. They captured him and put him in a container and shot him up with extra adamantuim. The whole thing crashed and Wolvie got so much bigger and more primal. How did they change him back? His healing power went into Tilt, and mutated his body.
Cannonball was with him, and got beat up really bad, lol.
Someone tell me the rest of the story, plz.

Thank u

Sacrifise666
i thought wolverine had wooden claws first then styrker put the adimantium over the claws than the whole body.

WWestFlashFan
WOODEN!!!!!!!!??????????? THERE BONE

Maelstrom
The way i see it is if you took nightcrawlers power away he would still look like a deamon. Take away wolvies powers and his bones dont' turn human. Just because your powerless dosn't make you not a mutant. His healing factor and senses and fighting abiltiy would leave him and he would have to rely on his training, which is why Xaviar rids them so hard not to rely on thier powers.

SuperDarryl
Thats a first.... Never heard Wolverine to ever have wooden claws. What good what they be to him? He would have a tough time stabbing someone with Wooden claws. They would definitly snap off in what ever he stabbed. Wolverine had bone claws, and had an adamantium skelton transplant, thus giving him adamantium claws. Wooden, I think not! Thats almost as bad as plastic claws....lol

Arachnoidfreak
how about Paper claws? rubber? how about claws made of glass

VENOMfan
he should have spaggettie claws and be called Noodlerine

Arachnoidfreak
laughing hahaha nice

Irish Wolverine
In Origin, it shows that he has always had bone claws.

Darth Vicious
wait wait wait, What the hell is that that Collossus got raped by Pyro and Avalanche? where was that? a porno X-men comic?

Arachnoidfreak
i dont think he ment an actual 'rape'. just that he got his ass kicked

Darth Jello
some people just have a crude commande of the english language.

DarkCrawler

Darth Jello
wolverine had the claws all along, that's why sabretooth and bullseye have had adamantium bonding but no claws. although Daredevil 197 shows a very cool picture of bullseye with claws in DD's nightmare. he doesn't have a mechanism either. the comic you refer to was days of the future past, and logan looks like a droid cause the artist didn't nkow how to draw an adamantium skeleton. the only other issue that supports the implanted claws theory is an issue of what if where someone else gets the bonding process and ends up with jagged, deformed claws. again this is false. if you read the weapon X comic, you know that the claws started with and excessive drain of adamantium in the wristes, the staff had planned for an normal skeleton but didn't anticipate bone claws, hence the excess drain.

Wynndar
hahahahah....ok guys....i dont have a personal connection or opinion about wolvie....im just refering to facts...he has said that his claws are mechanical...im not talking about days of future past...he has actually had his mechanism visible in fight with oth silver samuri and omega red...where they showed the contraption in his forarms that fires the claws out...no...if nightcrawler lost his poers he would look like a regular man...jus like when rogue kissed the Thing....Reed Richards cant turn Thing into a human...but Rogue kisses him and neutralizes his mutated DNA, making him more human looking...im not trying to degregate wolvie...im just pointing out facts...writers have contradicted previous writers when explinaing wolvies claws...he did have bone claws originally...but they came out all over his body....not just his fists. And he has said himslef that they come out due to a mechanism in his forarm...not due to mutant power....thus the only rational explanation for bone claws is that they grew inside of his adamantium claws...there r hella holes in the adamntium story....dont try to explain it maelstrom or darth jello...no bullseye doesnt have claws...why does adamantium sabertooth have adamantium claws on his fingers.....how about lady deathstrike?....why does wolverine have an adamantium skeleton...however when he talks his teeth have no adamntium on them....however, when u see pictures of wolverine's skeleton, after he theorhetically dies he has a adamntium skull with adamantium teeth in it???so do u mean when wolverine dies he should just have a skull with no teeth in it....cuz his teeth, unlike the rest of his skeleton, r not made of adamantium......writers for wolverine contradict other writers all the time.....how the hell does he grow those damn side burn and mutton chops...every hair on his body regrown in about 10 minutes anyway....it doesnt make sense for him to have such a high maintenance facial hair appearance...there is no argumenet here...writers contradict...if they stuck to the original story, after wolverine lost his adamantium, he would have bone claws coming out all over his body not just his fists

Red Superfly
Also - if Wolverine had bone claws how come in some pre-weapon X stories, he wore a "gauntlet" with claws on, like Vega from Street Fighter 2. I don't get it.

I think it's lame anyway - bone Wolverine is rubbish when you think about it. How can he cut through doors like he used to? His bone claws would just snap.

He used to be able to throw his claws around without a care in the world, because he knew his claws would be fine. Now, he knows that his bone claws will do absolutely nothing and will just snap off if he tries to claw at things.

I'm glad he didn't stay like that.

It makes him more primal, I guess, but it still sucks.

Also, about Wolverine being the only mutant with adamantium claws - didn't X23 get claws too?

Wynndar
they r stronger than regular bone...they will not snap with any force he can provide

Red Superfly
Yeah but there's no way he'd be able to punch away things like he used to, or cut down metal doors.

Wynndar
yea...no way....but he could cut some metal....just like sabertooth can cut metal with his fingernails smile

Arachnoidfreak
not only do writers contradict other writers, but artists f*ck up all the time. in Cable/Deadpool, Cable's scarred eye switches sides. on the cover of #1 its on his left, inside the comic its on his right. its on his right on the cover to #2 as well.

Magee
lol

Red Superfly
Yeah, it happens, because sometimes a picture looks better if it is flipped. It's one of those composition tweeks that artists need to get right.

Red Superfly
I'm glad Wolverine got his skeleton back btw.

I found it hard to take the loss of the adamandium as much as Wolvie did.

Darth Jello
in which issues could you see this "exposed mechanism" and gauntlets? I know that Cable originally was a cyborg and he does things like repair his arm during the x-tinction agenda, but in what issues did marvel get this sloppy?

Wynndar
i dont think it could be considered sloppy...but it was sloppy for them to give him bone claws and not explain it or contradict wolvie's history

Darth Jello
i'd just like to know which issues he had gauntlets and mechanisms in. and strangely, he did have short hair during the wolverine and typhoid mini series. prolly cause she kept burning it away. so, the people on typhoid mary's obsessive lovers list grows (worst list to be on in the marvel universe):kingpin, daredevil, deadpool, wolverine, ghost rider, spider-man...the poor, poor souls.

Wynndar
i dont know about the guantlets...i dont think that was a consistent comic book...but yea i think it was like in some comic where he was fighting in WWII...i will try ot find the issues where his flesh was torn and the mechanism was visible....i also think it has been shown in an x-ray image of him...I even think the old marvel universe guide describes them...because they also mention the maximum speed at which he can eject his claws

eleveninches
Yeah, she appears in NYX as well as evo.
Also, I remember reading somewhere where sabertooth gets adamantium claws put in (although Im not sure whether or not it was ultimate xmen).

Irish Wolverine
That was in Ultimate X-Men
