I want this thread to be devoted to the ladies. I wanna create a place where we as women can get together and talk about our favorites-- comic books, titles, characters, artists, etc; movies, actors, anything that crosses your mind. Time for all the ladies in the house to sound off!
Since this is my brain-child, I'll go first, of course. But before I begin my mad ravings, I'd like to throw out a question--Do you think that admitting your gender adds or detracts from your individual opinion--that is, do the guys take you more seriously if they think you're one of them? Or do you think that they respect you more because you don't only care about hair styles and fashion trends?
Now, then, I'm 30, been married for almost 9 years, and have 3 sons--Brendan, 7; Cameron, 5; and Alex, is 3, but he and I will be celebrating our 31st and 4th birthdays on the 7th and 6th of June, respectively.
I have been in love with Spider-man my entire life, and began collecting comics when I was about 10 or 11. The first series I began actively collecting was the Transformers and G.I. Joe--and am still an avid fan of both today. The Transformers was initially supposed to be just a 4 issue limited series, but it ended up being 80 issues long. At the top of the last issue was the heading "#80 IN A FOUR-ISSUE LIMITED SERIES" I always thought that was funny.
I have always been a Marvel girl, though I did collect some DC stuff for a while, as well as some Image stuff for a bit. I had been unimpressed with the same sort of primitive drawings that the 2 giants were releasing, and Image's pencils and inks were light-years ahead of where I thought Marvel should be, but fortunately, they evolved.
My favorite character is Venom, though I have many, many others that I love nearly as much. My favorite artists are Skottie Young, who I know most people hate, but who gives a sh*t? I also love McFarlane, Michelinie, and Bagley's work. But enough about me... I'd like to hear from all the gals who post here. Not just about comics, either, but that's a good place to start.
