The sentence "Tired Hiker's pad" has a: ' before the s, which means that theres a letter missing when theres not, that sentnce actually actually means "Tired Hiker is pad" because usaully when the ' is before and s it means is. Just thought I would let you all know.
cLoVi€
i thought this 's is the ( omg.. i don't know how it is called in english...)
genitive(?) form
Tired Hiker
Nope. You are wrong. The sentence, Preston's weener is crooked, means that my weener is crooked, not Preston is weener crooked. Get it?
burlyman
apostrophe+s replace is, or means belonging to. retard.

If the name of the entity that something belongs to end in s, only an additional apostrophe is required

No, you're definetly wrong....
DracotheDragon
when you say it's, that means it is. But when you use the apostrophe in a sentence like Tired Hiker's Pad, it means he owns it. DUH. fyou retard.
Cyclops
It is intended in the Posessive form. It is not necessarily replacing anything.
The Sentence "The Pad of Tired Hiker" can be rewritten in the form of "Tired Hiker's pad."
's = belonging to, posessive.
