K... I wanna know your opinions on why Darth Maul is the shit.

this is suppose to be in the episode I and II but what the heck hes the best sith i have ever seen.he kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!

His physical appearance is totally original and I'm pretty sure thats why he is feared by those against him.. who would want to fight thatlol

Do you even have to ask? He is the most visually impressive villain EVER. My blood races when he's onscreen.

I have read better villains (drow are absolutely nasty), but I have never seen one that looked so good...and lets face it, the prequels are all about the look.

Even if they made a movie about the drow, they wouldn't look as good as Maul.

Yeah he's just pure intense raging evil.

Vader and Palpatine are evil, but much more controlled. Maul is a loose cannon.

Did put up one intense fight though, only I'd like to have seen more 1 on 1 between Maul and Obi-Wan.

I've come to accept that Maul's ego was his downfall. His death pi$$ed me off at first, but it now seems like one of the few things that makes sense in the story. Obi-Wan eventually becomes a Jedi legend so who better to have taken him out?

It just sucks that Maul and Qui-Gon were the two best things about Ep 1 and they friggin died.

I never had expected that Maul would die in the first movie.

Yeah, Maul did have a rather unique style of fighting. Enjoyable to watch that's for sure. Dooku was sort of old style but I thought he had more class.

Maul had similar fighting style to Jedi. Dooku's fighting was, while not as dramatic, still graceful and much more effective than twirly-around spin fighting--simple jabs and thrusts suited him fine. To be honest, I prefer him much more than Maul--in TPM, Maul really has no character identity, and we get the hint that he's been beaten and basically brainwashed by Palpy. Dooku isn't as so easily controlled, and as such, has more of a personal role in SW.

what sucked is that gl killed him off because i wouldve loved seeing maul fight at the end of ep2 on geonosis.

True, he did move quite fast against two Jedi. Very fun to watch. Dunno I just liked the whole climax of the Episode 2 duels better.

I agree with that. Dooku wasn't nearly as fast, however he dealt with the two of them very easily. His fencing-style of saber fighting decimated both of them, and had Yoda not interfered, Obi and Anakin would have been history.

To be honest, a duel between Maul and Dooku would be most interesting...

Obviously it wouldn't happen, however it would be interesting to see that. Dooku, I believe, would win. Maul was an apprentace at the time, and had never been the "master" of any Jedi, or Sith lords, (from all we know, at least); Dooku was the master of Qui-Gon, and therefore more experienced.

if maul vs dooku ever happened dooku would have a heart attack just trying to keep up with maul.

Uh...that's complete bogus. Dooku was perfectly calm when fighting Anakin and Obi-Wan. Maul wouldn't be much different. In a Vader vs. Maul fight, Maul would win, but only because the only time Vader is fighting, he's hobbling around and swinging his lightsaber around one-handed usually. Not too effective.

Vader hadn't ever needed to put up a good lightsaber duel after Ep III because a) He's mostly robot, and b) There were never any Jedi around to challenge him. When he dueled Luke, he had a HUGE advantage over Luke, and that was because of his knowledge of the force, not his skill with a lightsaber.

im not saying ot vader. im saying when anakin is finnally put into the armor after the duel with obi1.

Well...then we need to see how good he is at fighting in that you know as well as I do in that regard

it would of been cool if GL woulnt of put that stupid rule about 2 sith so we could of seen dooku say to maul:"kill them"then maul would of jumped into the arena and dueled whit anakin and obi1 while padmé would of tooked on that cat she fights with!

i don't know about you guys but so far all the prequel villians have sucked. darth maul was very unoriginal with the kiss/wwf makeup and his costume was nothing more than black jedi robes. count dooku is just too old for action. besides speaking good lines thats all he was good for. there seemed to be no creativity in his design whatsoever besides his lightsaber hilt. i guess GL can't make the villians too cool otherwise they might outshine vader.

Hmm...Dunno, I really liked Dooku. Despite his age, he kicked some major @ss against Anakin and Obi-Wan, put up a good fight agaisnt Yoda to. I liked it for some reason and I loved his dialogue. Maul, I enjoyed him as well, not as much as Dooku but was acceptable. Looking forward to Grievous in Episode 3.

If you think about it - OB1 should be 'The One' he kicks darth mauls ass in EP 1, Is a much better fighter than aniken in EP 2, defeats aniken in EP3 - gets kills in EP4 by Vader but becomes more powerfull by becoming a ghost figure...



The Vader fight seens that we have seen in past arn't very good - so i hope we see Vader in more action in EP3 - because he is suppose to be the best.

Man I hope the same, Vader in action in Episode 3, it wouldn't get much better then that.

I admit it would have been cool to see Maul have some sort of return in Episode 2, but I wouldn't have taken him over Dooku. I know alot won't agree with that but for some reason I loved his character.

Maul is the single reason i would ever watch ep.I again. His death seemed a bit premature though, at the time i wouldve preferred to see maul in ep.II, only after watching it, i guess he wouldnt really fit anywhere without some plot changes. Dooku should have one over him, seemed a lot more experienced and witty. Maul versus Vadar.. hard to say really..... I'd have to go with Vadar for the same reasons i guess.

yeah when i saw those double blades, i was like, genius! But he's still not that cool. Obi-wan is much cooler, to me anyway.

Xam and Evolution: I agree completely. Replace Jango Fett with Maul, have Maul fight Mace Windu, oh yeah!

I also agree about Maul's facial tattoos being really cool. It gives him a fierce, demonic look which suits him perfectly.

I know it's not going to happen, but wouldn't it have been great if someone had used the clone factories on Kamino to clone Darth Maul? And wouldn't it be good to see him fight bare-handed?

Maul was easily the best villian GL ever thought up.

His pure outstanding "evilness" is bar none...Way beyond Vader and sometimes, I think, Palpatine.

I am in total agreement with you.I hate Darth Maul with a passion.He WAS the biggest piece of cheese next to Jar Jar Binks.He was a horrible villain.Totally stupid and not at all a believeable looking villian like darth vader was.He looked like one of those wrestlers out of WWF.Him and Jar jar Binks were stupid and ruined that movie more than anything else.

how good he fights is kewl! He flips and jumps and the dual sided lightsaber rocks! The face paint is mysterious. It kinda gives him a rebellious look, like a tattoo. He seems like a biker dude, who does his own thing. I hated that he died in ep1! He needed to survive all 3 prequels. It would have generated more fan base, and filled GL's pockets a bit more.

First of all he has a very cool lightsaber and second of all he has a creppy voice and third and last of all he is just cool!JM

Ray Park with his high level skill in martial arts transform the final showdown in Episode I in an epic battle.He flip, leap, slash and show his own against two Jedi.2.
And he was an apprentice, like Obi Wan, but he defeat a Master.Maul's look and his voice make him looking like a demon, a beast.When he was separated from Qui Gonn from the laser door, QG starts to relax and focus himself on the battle, Maul provokes him, smiling with a bastard face and walking forward and back like an animal in a cage.

Maul is a baddass character either way you look at it, double-blade lightsaber, awsome face tattoo, and frickin horns! But he was almost even more baddass with his cloak up than down. And I think of his identity more of a mystery then non-existent.

Yes it sux that he died in episode I, I would have liked him to go all the way through to episode III - either way I agree with Creechuur, it was appropriate that Obi-Wan is the one who killed Maul.

Jedi90 - I have one question - how in the hell is Darth Maul an "unoriginal" character? Lucas knows nobody will EVER top Vader and he's not worried about that.

Darth Maul vs Darth Vader would be cool – but never would have happened even if Maul survived. Maul vs Yoda, now that would be exciting, they both have the jumping, spinning fighting tactic, and was somewhat likely to happen.

The coolest thing about Maul is his confidence and style.

What i liked about Maul was that he was very no nonsense get the job done kinda character. He only speaks once and what he says is basically his mantra in life, "I am a sith and i will have revenge agaisnt jedi" You can probably see him walking around thinking that to himself day and night. He is a soldier.
Also I would argue maybe one of the best fighters with a saber in the star wars world. He is very young mind you and not even fully developed in his powers yet he is fighting both Qui Gon ( who is very good) AND his apprentice??? For all intensive purposes he won too, but his confidence became his over confidence and he let down his gurad to early and Obi pulled out a awesome force move seemingly out of nowhere and dispatched Maul.
I think Maul was awesome. So many characters have so much to say, its realistic that one might find more solice in taking action more than speaking words.

As for the vs. segments of this post. I rate Maul a little higher on the fighting ability than most of you I think. I think for instance he would give both vader and dooku a run for their money though i don't know who would win with Dooku and Maul but i must admit i am pretty sure vader would win.

When I saw Episode 1 I missed when he was killed and I thought he would be an ongoing villan and I gotta say I was disapointed...

did you see how he killed qui gon? there was enjoyment in his acts, ya he is full with pure rage

Personally, I dislike Darth Maul. Mostly because of idiots who go on about 'OMg!!1 Lyk Drth Maul wld pwn evr1s @ss!' and his bland voice. Maul is only good against two or less Jedi, a three or more is way too many for him.

I think the reason everyone likes him is because hes a very dark, mysterious, sith lord who looks cool and fights well also

Pure evil, will kill anything. Don't mess with him he WILL own you. I agree him and QGJ were the best chars in ep1 and they both died in it.
