Shadowy_Exa
i recently found one of these on my pc,
i need some info on
trojan.8 dialer.
it was on my pc
does it ALWAYS stay dialed up everytime on online-how much does it charge, and how nasty is it
its removed now
yerssot
sorry, couldn't find that virus in my database, and my knowledge of dialers is limited, but my guess is it would dial up to a number in the states where you have to pay per minute?
Shadowy_Exa
Im english.
i god rid of it, but im worriued
if its charged money im banned from the pc
Shit
yerssot
I'm not sure how it can charge you if you are not on dial up
Shadowy_Exa
well say if it downloaded itself when im on the net.
and then i disconnect
and reconnect later on
does it still charge?
yerssot
I did a quick research, the only thing I got is it's dialing a high-cost number using a modem
Shadowy_Exa
High cost
SHIT
Fire
Thank god for broadband, then they can shuve their dialers where the sun don't shine.
Anywayz I like yerss have a limited knowledge of dialers but I always thought they didn't work until you really told them too. they just installed themselves.
Clovie
it costed as if you phoned a pay-phone (teleaudio)
it is veeeeery expensive
pooor ya
TOH
Its a trojan (OH! ) most likely introduced by Kazaa program... install a firewall or give up peer-to-peer...
Shadowy_Exa
well i need to know about this one.
IF it dialed up without me saying anything.
and yeah i used kazaa-not anymore though *throws away*
i have a firewall didnt work lol
Serisouly i need info on this little git!
Shadowy_Exa
Here- i searched my results for past virus tests
and heres what it is
yerssot
well, I guess it didn't do much damage yet? and I still don't know how they can phone up a number if you don't surf on the telephone line (I mean, how can they charge it to a phonenumber if you're not on it?)
Shadowy_Exa
i use a modem
it takes up the phoneline
i only come on at offpeak hours
if it charged it will show up on phone bill, it wont do any damage before then
until my parents see the money they owe
yerssot
but you got rid of it, so it's all well now
Clovie
it is changing the number which you r using to connect to net.
JKozzy
Do you have dialup? If you do, might want to check the charges... if you have broadband, can't do crap to ya
silent_kisses
Thank you Broadband
Shadowy_Exa
yeah i got rid of it yerss
But if it charged, im going to cry
yerssot
well, are you sure it actually did dial a number?
I am a Sock
but it gives you many other viruses.
well, it looks like the little bugger is gone. Rin and a-v every week and u'll be dandy
Shadowy_Exa
Yerss no, im not sure it dialed, the number i dial up to the inteernet with has never changed
and there was never a number changed on my 'connections'
so i dont know if it did dial or not.
i was just asking wether any of you guys knew if they automatically dialed up?
yerssot
best thing you can do is ask Raz
Shadowy_Exa
But i always Pm raz whenever i have a pc problem
which is quite often---i doubt that he can still be bothered to reply no_2
Raz
I have no idea how dialers work, but I'm guessing there are two types. One that automactially dial themselves and others where you have to manually do it.
Which one you got? no idea. Try searching Google.
Shadowy_Exa
it cant find anything
Clovie
if it didn't change your conecting number there is nothing to worry about.
yerssot
Clovie to the rescue
Shadowy_Exa
Thank you clovie
and yerss thanks for looking into it again
and thanks raz for trying to help even though you were clueless
silent_kisses
I've never had a problem
Plus my computer is completely secure
I am a Sock
when I had dial-up, I never had problems. When I got DSL, my comp was virus central. Of course, we didn't have a good firewall. That could be the problem
silent_kisses
I have all types of protection, firewalls, virus scans, privacy filter, and spam protection and such
Shadowy_Exa
noce to know you lot use protection
yerssot
that's why this section is here... to help out
Clovie
your welcome
i have dial-up and i have no problem with viruses..
i only once have a problem with hacker..
and if i knew who he is i'd kill him.
(i do know that guy lives somewhere near me and it makes it even more annoying
)
Raz
If you follow the instructions posted here: http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f13/t296008.html
Your computer will be secure.
Shadowy_Exa
@ yerss yeah but you could just ignore people
You should have scanned his IP and hunted the git down
yerssot
actually, it's not that easy, some servers change IPs every time, so you can't get much out of it
Clovie
it is more complicated.
i have kind of inside-network.. and everyone here has same ip.
i may be using 10 or even a hundret different comps and it will still be same number.
and i already got rid of that
i change some options in firewall and now everything is great
Shadowy_Exa
thats a lil dangerous dont ya think
because what if sombody near you joined up there
and tis the same IP
Shadowy_Exa
Well if you get banned for socking if that happens i will point this post out
"The Tex"
I get tons of dialers installed on my comp all the time.
Never a Trojan8.dialer...but I wouldn't worry about it; I have dial-up and none of the viruses have ever dialed any long distance calls or such.
yerssot
tex.. you get those from visiting porn-sites... having a bad sex-life?
Shadowy_Exa
non-existant is more the word
Clovie
exacly...
yerssot
joking of course
Jedi Priestess
Kazaa=all virus all the time
